Gotcha. [he and his friends run over to Katherine and Principal Ramirez, surprising them with horror] Principal Ramirez! Action News Team!

Excuse me.

Principal Ramirez, how much has Katherine Mulligan been paying you to steal out news stories?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

I don't know what you're talking about.

[sneaks up next to her and puts the microphone in her face, causing her to wobble and fall into the lake] We're asking the questions here.

The jig is up, Katherine "Shady Shader" Mulligan! The book Principal Ramirez was going to give you, is a bunch of phony news leaks we planted! Bam! [looks closely at the book cover] "Passion under the Pompeii Moon?" Uh-oh.

PRPrincipal Ramierz

[snatches the book from him, angrily] You bet you're "uh-oh." Ms. Mulligan and I are in a book club together. Now someone get me out of here.

That's the story. We've been meeting to swap novels we're reading.

So you weren't leaking our stories?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Of course not! This what you spend your time on, making false accusations? I have half a mind to shut down the Action News Team.

Please, don't!

No, dawg!

We're sorry.

Give us another chance.

[steps in front] I'm Katherine Mulligan, and I agree with these children. Sure, they got the story wrong. But they've got real drive. [giggles] It reminds me of me when I was starting out. I say they deserve a second chance.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[out of her mind; annoyed] Fine. [The Action News Team jump and share a high-five; exits the lake, wagging her finger] But no more wild goose chases or knocking principals in lakes.

Promise.

We swear.

It was Zach.

Thanks, Ms. Mulligan. But we have to know, how the heck have you been able to scoop us?

With help from my boyfriend. He's a real sweetie with even sweeter leads. But I had no idea he was getting them from you.

[Royal Woods Middle School; The judges award Stella for winning 1st place in the Science Fair for her Coaster Toaster invention and her friends and all the other students congratulates her while she smiles proudly of herself]

All right, Stella!

Way to go, Stella!

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[impressed] Nice work, Stella! I want to enter you in the state science fair. The winner gets a trip to robotics camp and an annual pass to the science museum.

Really? That sounds incredible! Count me in.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[picks her up and hugs her] Whoo-hoo! [sets her down] I can't wait to cheer you on during your presentation! Each student gives a big speech to the board of middle school scientists and an auditorium full of people. Go, Stella! [walks off]

Wait. [worriedly] What?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Good morning, kids! Hope you're enjoying the cooler temperature. As Astrid Bjorklundson says… "Temperatures as cold as ice will help the children learn real nice."

Who is this Bjorklundson character anyway?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

She's a leading education specialist from Sweden. And she has the coolest glasses. Check her out! [pulls up and plays a video on her phone]

AAstrid

My patented Astrid Method has improved student performance in over fifty countries. I not only preach the Astrid Method, I practice it myself. Brr! Thanks to that icy plunge, I just got ten new ideas! Hej då!

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Soon enough, you kids will be the top students in all of Southeast Michigan! I can see you're all shaking with excitement. And just a heads-up, from now on, school will start at 6:03 a.m. for mindful yoga. [plays another video]

AAstrid

To aid the student's aspirations, begin the day with meditations. Astrid Power Pose!

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Fun, right? Hej då! [skates off]

I can't start school that early. I need two hours in the morning to deep-condition my fiery mane.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a rush. Just got an email from Astrid's book club. She's on tour with a new advice book, "Are You There, Cod? It's Me Astrid." [shows Lincoln and his friends a photo of Astrid's book]

Oh. I thought we were done with the Astrid Method.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

I thought so too. But why would she write another book if her methods don't work? I'm gonna meet her and find out what's going on.

[shocked] You're meeting with Astrid?!

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Of course! Her first stop is Hazeltucky, today. [dashes off] And I'm late.

Oh, this is so not good. If Principal Ramirez and Astrid meet, we're more busted than Rusty's hair!

We have to make sure they don't meet.

[Outside the Bookstore, Principal Ramirez is having a stern word with the Action News Team]

We're sorry, Principal Ramirez. We shouldn't have deceived you.

It's just that the Astrid Method was making us miserable.

Eating all that fish was cramping my style with the ladies.

Yeah, it was the fish.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[sighs] Look, it's my job to make sure you're set up to succeed, and the Astrid Method guarantees that'll happen. So, we'll resume the program on Monday.

[as his friends groan in disappointment] Dang it.

AAstrid

Nej, wait. Principal Ramirez, studies have shown that student happiness is crucial for success. If these children aren't happy, than that means the program isn't working. I'm going to have to rethink it. [to the Action News Team] Thank you for your honest feedback.

[The Action News Team rush to the teachers' lounge and find it completely wrecked where Principal Ramirez is]

This is not looking good for Crikey.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Yes, Miss Zhou, especially since there is poo in the corner! [gags in disgust, then calls for Meryl] Meryl, bring a shovel and a bag!

This is not in my job description, ma'am.

[The Action News Team and Crikey have captured the fake Crikey and Liam takes off the mask, revealing to be…]

ANAction News Team

[shocked gasp] Mr. Budden?!

You're the one who trashed the school and framed Crikey?!

Why would you do that?!

BMr. Budden

[un-zipping the kangaroo costume] It was the only way to get your beloved Crikey out of here! He's overshadowed my pep band from day one! We never perform in our own anymore! We're always backup for Crikey. I didn't go to an expensive music school to be less pop songs for a kangaroo! And his treatment around here is frankly ridiculous. Donuts every morning, a key to the teachers' lounge. Oh, give me a break!

[video-calling Principal Ramirez on his phone] Did you get all that, Principal Ramirez?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[in her bathrobe and her hair wrapped in a towel] Yes, I did. [firmly] Mr. Budden, you and I are gonna have a little talk tomorrow. [to Rusty; annoyed] And Mr. Spokes, I don't know how you had this number, but lose it. [hangs up]

BMr. Budden

[ashamed] Well, Trevor Bernard Budden, you've done it again. I guess I deserve whatever's coming to me. [walks over to Crikey] Crikey, I'm really sorry about everything.

[Five minutes later… Principal Ramirez parks her car into the driveway of her house just as Stella returns the original parrots to their perch and Rusty hides the replacement ones in his hair]

[hastily as Principal Ramirez enters the backyard] Principal Ramirez. I bet you're wondering why we're all standing around here in our swimming costumes.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Not really. [shoves him, Zach and Kara out of the way; to her parrots, happily] There you are! Oh, my babies! Mommy missed you! [gives them smooches]

[mimicking Rusty] Rusty Spokes cannonball!

GPGreen Parrot

[squawks; mimicking Zach] Stella's pool party!

[mimicking Colonel Austin] Hasta la bye-bye, chump!

Yeah, about that. We can explain. We really messed up. We used the pool before we got your text.

We're really sorry.

Yeah.

[sighs] I'll just go to community college.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[puzzled] Wait, wait, wait. I'm confused. I told you to use the pool. Didn't you read my text?

[holds up her phone; confused] The one with the angry face emoji?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Angry face? I thought that was the "It's hot" emoji. [takes out her phone] See? I said, "I'm down. It's super hot. Swimming is the bomb."

PRPrincipal Ramirez

Principal Ramirez CANNONBALL! [runs and dives into the pool as the water splashes onto the replacement parrots in Rusty's hair]

NYNew York Parrot

Hey! I'm squawkin' here!

[Stella drags the award, chained to Principal Ramirez's desk to a bridge over a river, and prepares to throw it into the river, but the award hasn't touched the water]

[frustrated] Ugh! Come on! [prepares to throw the whole desk into the river]

PRPrincipal Ramirez

[off-screen] Stella, stop! [runs up]

Principal Ramirez? How did you find me?

PRPrincipal Ramirez

I just followed the drag marks. [gestures to the trail in the dirt; Stella pulls up the award and sighs awfully] Why are you doing this?

I'm sorry, it's just, everyone thinks I'm a goody-two-shoes and a teacher's pet as it is. I really appreciate what you and all the teachers are trying to do, but getting this award would only make things worse.

PRPrincipal Ramirez

I understand. We just wanted to honor you because you're such a good kid. It's not always easy to do the right thing, but you always do. And we admire that about you. It's a shame you want to give this up because of what other people think. But I can buff out your name and give it to somebody else.
