Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego's squad of squalid scuzzballs has struck again. This time, they finagled their furtive fingers into Zurich, Switzerland. Soccer is the world's most popular sport, and the dream of all national soccer teams is to win a World Cup. A global tournament is held every four years to determine a champion. The last World Cup matches were held in Italy in 1990, and the championship game was viewed by over 1.3 billion fans. In 1994, the games will be hosted by one of the only countries in the world where soccer isn't all that popular, the USA. The World Cup Trophy itself contains about 10 pounds of 18-karat gold, and it's kept in Zurich, Switzerland. The team that wins the tournament doesn't get the real trophy, they get a less-expensive copy. Hmm. What if we gave all our winners not a real trip anywhere in North America but just a video of one? Well, it just wouldn't be the Acme way. Well, today, the real trophy was swiped. Double Trouble, Carmen's matching makers of mayhem, zipped into Zurich, crept up on the cup, and then snatched it away. They renamed it the Trouble Trophy and plan to hold and international crime tourney. Your mission, gumshoes: bust Double Trouble on the double, return the World Cup Trophy to Zurich, and then capture Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her confederacy of con artists have struck again. This time, they KO'd Moscow's ancient walled fortress, The Kremlin. The belfry and bell tower of Ivan the Great are the tallest structures in The Kremlin. What's inside the belfry? Bells. 21 richly, ornamented bells hanging the tower and one more sits on a stone pedestal at the bottom. That's the big guy, the Tsar Bell. Cast in the 1730s, it weighed more than 200 tons, and is decorated with images of Russian royalty, a Tsar and Tsarina. It's the largest chimer in the world, and you'd think it would stay put, but no. When irresistible force meets immovable objects, something's gotta give. What gave? The bell at the base. Eartha Brute broke in and stole the Tsar Bell. Gumshoes, your mission is to bring in Eartha, ring in the bell, and ding out Carmen Sandiego once and for all.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her ring of robbers have ransacked again. This time, they made off with a marble masterpiece from Florence, Italy. In 1501, the artist Michelangelo acquired a huge chunk of damaged marble, someone else had been carving and then abandoned, Michelangelo took his chisel to it and carved the biblical hero David. Almost instantly recognized as a masterwork, the statue remains one of Europe's greatest treasures. It stood in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence for over a hundred years until yesterday when Eartha Brute went gaga over the marbled marbles and made off with him. Florentines watched in horror as she stomps away with a big bare buddy. Gumshoes, you've got to save Dave, unearth Eartha, and then capture Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego wicked wild persons have wangled another whopper. This time, the clobbered Kentucky. Louisville, Kentucky is home to the famous racetrack called Churchill Downs. Each year on the first Saturday in May, the country's finest three-year-old thoroughbred race horses gather at the downs to compete in the Kentucky Derby. Begun in 1875, the Run of the Roses is the oldest continually held horse race in the country. It is also the most glamorous. For three weeks before the race, Louisville is turned into a festival of balls and barbecues, concerts, competitions, galas, and parades. But yesterday, things got yucky in Kentucky. Patty Larceny, that sugarcoated pill, lassoed every last thoroughbred. She had just finished reading National Velvet and decided she just couldn't live without her own stable full of steeds. Gumshoes, your mission is to pick up Patty, put back the heisted horses, and then put down Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her notorious noxious ne'er-do-wells have nabbed again. This time, they've dogged Alaska. The famed Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race named the ghost town of Iditarod has been run every year since 1973. The route runs more than a thousand miles between Anchorage and Nome. It started because of a 1925 diphtheria epidemic. Dog-sled drivers called mushers ran medicine to remote northern parts of Alaska. The epidemic ended, but the race lived on. Every March, several dozen ushers meat for what may be the most grueling competitive event. They drive their specially trained dog reams for nearly three weeks, sleeping as little as possible, conserving body heat and fighting blizzards, thin ice, and charging moose. In 1990, four-time winner Susan Butcher set a record for the run: 11 days, one hour, and 53 minutes. But if you thinking about entering the competition this year, you can leave your huskies at home, because last night, by the light of the arctic moon, Wonder Rat swiped all the sleds and dog teams. That annoying little vermin will do anything to promote himself. Now he wants to have his own rat race. Gumshoes, your mission is to trap that rat, get the sleds back on track, and then catch crime queen Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her noxious knavish nincompoops have naughtied again. This time, the state of Florida caught their plaques. The ridge area of Florida is one of the most important citrus-growing regions in the world, producing one-quarter of all citrus fruits grown. We're talking more than 200 million boxes of navels, Valencias, temples, tangerines, tangelos, red grapefruit, white grapefruit, and pineapple oranges per growing season. It's about an 8 billion dollar industry that provides over 150,000 juicy jobs in planting, picking, packing, pulping, peeling, squeezing, and freezing. If you stacked all the half gallon orange juice cartons that Florida produces in two years, you could climb that stack to the moon. Or you could have until yesterday Eartha Brute flounced into Florida, raided the ridge, and grabbed the grove. Your mission, gumshoes: bring in the Brute, get the groves back to their growers, and then corner that cunning conniver Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her band of backstabbers have boosted again. This time, they sacked Miami, Florida. This Southern port is now home to a replica of the HMS Bounty. The original Bounty was the scene of a famous mutiny that took place in the South Pacific. Back in 1789, Fletcher Christian, the ship's first mate, led his men in a revolt against Captain William Bligh. When MGM was preparing to shoot its film about the mutiny, the set designers traveled to England to study the original ship's plans and captain's notes. Then, they built a new Bounty. Since then, it has traveled more than 100,000 miles including a one-year voyage to Tahiti for the filming. Today, the Bounty resides in Miami. Or it did until Double Trouble, that dastardly duplicitous do-badding duo, swept into Miami and swiped the ship. Apparently, they wanted to take the ultimate party cruise. Gumshoes, your mission is to trap those troublemakers, ship the ship back to its slip in Miami, and then bring down Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego's pack of predacious pirates has pounce again. This time, it happened in the heart of America's entertainment industry, Hollywood, California. Fame in Hollywood can be fleeting, but there's one place where stars' names really are immortal: the stretch of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street called the Walk of Fame. The names of nearly 2,000 entertainers are displayed in two and a half miles of bronze and terrazzo stars embedded in the sidewalk. The Walk honors performers from movies, TV, radio, and theater. There are current stars, stars of the past, and even the occasional animal. There's enough room left to put a new star in the pavement every month for the next 50 years. Or there was until Wonder Rat, Carmen's raunchy rodent, got busy with a toilet plunger and sucked up every last star on the sidewalk. He plans to engrave them all with his own name and logo. Your mission, gumshoes: snare Wonder Rat, return the stars to Hollywood, and then bring Carmen Sandiego to justice.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego's tribe of truculent tricksters has struck again. This time, they've burgled a bastion in Quebec City, Canada. High above the St. Lawrence River, on the summit of Cape Diamond sits a somewhat star-shaped potrait called The Citadel. Built by the British in the early 1800s, the Citadel has thick stone walls and a magnificent defensive position above a sheer cliff. Today, it serves as the headquarters of Canada's Royal 22nd Regiment and its cannons are still fired twice daily. (explosion) There's one. (waits for second explosion but nothing happens) Oh, oh, well. It's got... but now it's famous for.. (explosion) But now this famous fortress defends no more. Robocrook, Carmen's wrecking crew CPU, trekked into Quebec City, stormed the Citadel, and carried it away. Your mission, gumshoes: ruffle up Robocrook, reset the Citadel back in Quebec City, and then bring Carmen Sandiego to justice.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego's covey of cretinous creeps has created another crime. This time, they pulled their caper in China. In 1974, Chinese peasants outside the imperial city of Xi'an made an amazing discovery. While digging a well, they unearthed a tomb from the 3rd century BC, the final resting place of unified China's first emperor Qin Shi Huangdi, and the old king wasn't alone. To protect his tomb, his subjects buried him with an army of over 7,000 life-sized clay warriors. Historians says it took several hundred-thousand workers 36 years to construct the tomb and the Terracotta army. Since their discovery, many of the soldiers have been restored and returned to their posts in the large burial pit. But now, the army has evacuated. Carmen's henchrodent Wonder Rat, that self-promoting sniveling pseudo superhero, zipped through Xi'an and stole all the statues. Gumshoes, your mission is to reel in the rat, rerustle those statues, and then round up crime queen Carmen Sandiego.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her cluster of clever kleptos have clam dug again. This time, they've ripped off Rome, Italy. In Rome's National Gallery hangs a famous portrait of King Henry VIII of England. It was painted by the German renaissance artist Hans Holbein the Younger around 1537. After viewing some of the artist's work, the king commissioned several portraits of himself, his children, and his third wife Jane Seymour. Perhaps Henry hoped he'd heightened his heritage with the help of Hans Holbein's hand. This particular portrait with this precise detail and elegant composition is considered one of Holbein's finest works. But now, Hank has been heisted. In a rare and probably accidental display of good taste, Vic the Slick, Carmen Sandiego's marauding mustachioed malfeasant, have made off with it. Gumshoes, your mission is to pick up Vic, put back the portrait, and then pack in Carmen Sandiego's career in crime.

Gumshoes, Carmen Sandiego and her slew of her slippery sleazoids have struck again. This time, they did a dreadful deed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Ever since the Iroquois people first strapped bones to their footwear so they could glide across frozen lakes, ice skating has been the national pastime in Canada. And where there's skating, there's hockey. Since 1972, Edmonton has been home to the renowned Oilers hockey team. They won the Stanley Cup five times and they given the world Wayne Gretzky. But yesterday, Top Grunge skidded into town and slid off with the Oilers. That sleazeball on skates didn't just steal the team, he absconded with the arena. Gumshoes, your job is to skate the Oilers back to Edmonton, put Top Grunge in the penalty box, and then ice his evil coach Carmen Sandiego.

And this is Vic the Slick, Carmen Sandiego's mealy-mouthed mustachioed marauder.

His last known whereabouts: Nara, Japan, the nation's first permanent capital from 710 to 784 A.D. Nowadays, the city's famous for Nara Park and the 1,000 rare shika deer that wander its grounds. They're tame and extremely popular with park visitors. Some members of the Shinto religion even considered them Divine Spirit Messengers. But yesterday, the hooved hot shots involuntarily vacated the premises, when that sauntering decanter of banter Vic the Slick tiptoed into the park, unleashed his lasso and departed with the deer. He's thinking of selling them to Santa as a 2nd string team. Gumshoes, you've got to catch Carmen and stop that creep who made...

Rockapella (singing): Woo-woo-ooo-oo

Detectives, ACME Art-Net has tracked Vic the Slick to the place where Leonardo painted Lisa. Vic was spotted pinching a pinkie ring at the Ponte Vecchio, where they've been making jewelry since 1593. Now this city is often called "The Birthplace of the Renaissance", and the artists Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo did some of their greatest works here. Their recent decision to become ninja turtles has initially been controversial, but is now regarded as just another example of their genius.

(picks up the phone) ACME Crime Net.

MLMona Lisa

ACME Crime Net? It's Lisa. (furiously) WHEN a-you are gone, a-rescue me!! If this jerk drags me through the Van Gogh Museum one more time, I'm gonna throw him in the Amstel River! Everything's written in Dutch. Get me out of here right now!!!

We're on the case, ma'am! Thanks so much for calling. Been a pleasure. Bye. (hangs up the phone) I love it when she calls.

(knock at door)

Yeah, come in.

(Scott, the Dying Informant, screams as he gets thrown inside, but in the wrong position, so he moves properly to the drawn outline of a dead body)

I think we have a serious problem here. What's the matter, dude? Hey, come on. What's the matter?

(gags) I saw Vic in a Japanese-- (gags)

Come on. You can't die now. A Japanese what? A Japanese what? Come on!

An industrial center in western Japaaaaaaaan!!!

Come on! We need a little bit more. Just a little bit more! Come on.

The city's famous for Bunraku... Japanese Puppet Theater! (gags)

Is that it? That's all ya had to say to me? Is that it?! Haven't ya got anymore?! (loudly) ANSWER ME!!!!

(screams, then calmly:) It's just south of... Kyoto! (he gets up, spins around, does splits, and collapses again)

Scott, the Dying Informant! (applause; Scott picks up his hat) One more time! Bravo! How wonderful! (Scott heads back to the alley)

Hey, boss lady, I gotta stash Lisa someplace. She's gettin' on my nerves.

Take her to a souk in Morocco.

Souk? What's a souk?

It's an outdoor market where you can find everything from snake charmers to pastries filled with pigeon meat. Vic, you'll love the souk. You can argue over the price of everything.

Yeah? Where is this Morocco place, huh?

It's a country in northern Africa on the Mediterranean Sea. And, Vic?

Yeah?

Lose the plaid suit.

Oh Carmen, you've got no style.
