You know, Steve, I was gonna ask you what happened to you to turn you into this. But then I realized it was always in the cards from the moment that I met you. You were on your way to becoming exactly what you are now.
SSteve
I love him. I know you don't believe that. Especially right now. But I do.
SSam
Yeah, you love him. Right. That's why you get some woman to snatch him from school and tie him up and leave him in a van. You don't even remember his medicine.
I should've stayed a resident. No responsibilities, just heal 'em and deal 'em, that was the life.
SSam
Morris, can I tell you something as a friend? [Morris nods] Sometimes you are such a little bitch! You make three times as much as I do, and for what? Give orders, instead of take them? Boo-hoo for you!
[Sam finds a patient with end-stage ovarian cancer on a computer in the break-room]
SSam
Hey! Been looking all over for you.
DDiane
I gotta... get an airline ticket, before the price goes up. [Sam gently pulls her away from the computer]
SSam
C'mere. Come on, sit down- please? [Diane reluctantly follows her to the couch]
DDiane
Malaria... won't feel... as bad as this.
SSam
Look, the fluid in your belly is compressing your lungs. If you let us take some of it off, it'll make it easier to breathe.
DDiane
I just wanna get o-on the plane.
SSam
I understand that, okay? But you are breathless and you are pale [moves Diane's hair out of her eyes] and flight crews are trained to spot people just like you.
DDiane
[pause] I'll wear blush.
SSam
Parasentisis will only take a few minutes.
DDiane
Sam, I have friends... in Costa Rica... and they're waiting for me. [tearfully] It's all planned out.
SSam
[nods, but gives her a direct look]This is your only chance to get there.
[to Abby, after her son Joe is injured and being sedated] I remember, when Alex was three... I took him to one of those bounce-houses at the carnival. Of course, he's in there with five and six-year-old kids, so he gets knocked down, right? And every time he tries to get up, he keeps getting knocked down- and he's crying, "Mommy, Mommy!" And- the attendant won't let me in because he thinks I'm some stupid teenager, right?
I stood there, and I... cheered him on. And, every time he got knocked down, I told him, "I know you can get up!" But... that's when it hit me. They fall. And all you can do is be there... and hope they keep gettin' up.
I hooked myself up with a tight, little sex machine. Energy-efficient to the tune of 40-plus miles per gallon, and draws babes to Archie like bees to honey.
