Scenes with Mr. Maellard 6

It's always good to have you at the park, Mr. Maellard...sir.

Mr. Maellard

Don't try to fraternize with me, Bert.

Actually, sir, my name is "Benson".

Mr. Maellard

I KNOW WHAT YOUR NAME IS, BEANBAG!! So everything is ready for the unveiling of the new statue today, right, Beanbag?

Yes, sir. The catering's all set and the sound system is in place.

Mr. Maellard

Good. Great. There's only one thing missing — my son, Pops!! When I told him he had to give a speech today, he ran away, crying! I didn't invite all my friends and waste a lot of money for nothing. Right, Beenteen?

Uh... no, sir.

Mr. Maellard

Now go find Pops so he can give his speech, or you're FIRED!! Underline, FIRED!

Mr. Maellard

Snacks disappearing from the snack bar, holes in the walls — $500 worth of prank phone calls?! It's ridiculous! What are you doing to my park, Beenteen?

But, sir, it's not my fault. It's Mordecai and Rigby. It's right here on my report.

Mr. Maellard

Are you my park manager, Beanteen?

Yes, sir.

Mr. Maellard

Then everything that happens here is your fault!

Well... yes, technically, but—

Mr. Maellard

Say it.

...Everything that happens here is my fault.

[a white limo crashes through the left side of the office!]

Mr. Maellard

MY CAR!!

[Mordecai rolls down the window]

Sorry, Benson, remember how I told you I can drive stick? Well, I'm a little rusty.

I told you that you should've let me be the one to park it!

Mr. Maellard

Why are they driving my car when I specifically TOLD YOU TO PARK IT?!!

I did, sir, but I delegated it to Mordecai and Rigby.

Uhh, this is getting a little awkward, so we're gonna take off. [backs away]

Wait!!

[the limo then falls onto the side of the house, bleeping]

Mr. Maellard

That's it! Emergency meeting tomorrow! Things are going to change around here.

[The next day, outside the house...]

Mr. Maellard

I'm sure you're all anxious to get back to work, so let me make this brief. Beancan, you're being demoted.

What?!

Mr. Maellard

Everyone, this is Susan. She'll be taking over Beanton's duties at the park.

SSusan

Thank you, Mr. Maellard. First, I'd like to thank Benson for agreeing to step down from his position.

What?!

SSusan

I know this park's productivity has been inadequate for a long time. But now that I'm here, we're gonna get this park back in working order the Susan way. So, Pops and Skips, I need you to clean the north end fountain. Muscle Man and Hi Five Ghost are on snack bar duty. Mordecai and Rigby AND Benson, you guys will be raking the leaves.

What?!

Mr. Maellard

Thank you, Benson, keep up the good work.

Alright, alright! Everybody back to work. We've gotta get this mess cleaned up, now! (everyone but M&R walk off) And that means you Mordecai and Rigby. (hands Mordecai a broom and Rigby a shovel) You better keep working after I'm gone, because if I come back, and you're not, you're fired!

(Benson gets in the cart and drives away.)

Haha, yeah, good to have you back, Benson! (to Rigby) You wanna go play video games?

Yeah-yuh!

(Benson looks at the duo walk up the steps in the car's rear-view mirror.)

Ahhh... It's good to be back.

[Enraged to see that Mordecai and Rigby destroyed the cart] MORDECAI, RIGBY! What have I told you about messing with the cart? If you think— [Mr. Maellard touches his shoulder]

Mr. Maellard

My office, now.

[the scene cuts to Pops' house]

Mr. Maellard

D'you have any idea how much those carts cost?!? I'm not paying park money to fix your mistakes!

But, sir...

Mr. Maellard

BUT NOTHING! [Mordecai and Rigby hears behind the door, off-screen] I could find a new park manager right now if I wanted to.

Don't worry, sir. The warranty will take care of everything. [Maellard takes his cue card, then angrily slams it on his table]

Mr. Maellard

This expires tomorrow afternoon!

But the dealership's too far away. I'll have to drive all day and night.

Mr. Maellard

Sounds like a personal problem. Get that cart fixed or you're FIRED!

[The scene cuts to Mr. Maellard angrily slamming the door at Benson]

Hey, Benson, what's with the fancy spread?

Mr. Maellard said he needed to give an announcement this morning. You know, you all could learn a thing or two about boss appreciation… [Mr. Maellard's limo suddenly crashes through the sweets; sighs and facepalms as Mr. Maellard gets out of his limo] Mr. Maellard! How nice of you to visit us today.

Mr. Maellard

No time for bollocking Benson. Take a seat. As you all aware: Park attendance has been declining for years. With no visitors, I'm basically just paying you boys to babysit Pops at this point.

And they're doing a bang up job.

Mr. Maellard

With that in mind, I've decided to shut down the park.

[The guys all start complaining]

No visitors?! Well, what about, uh, that guy? [points to Huge Head and everyone looks at him]

HHHuge Head

Wait, not yet!

Mr. Maellard

One ugly guy, plotting revenge on my son for the last four years isn't enough to keep the park open. You guys all had a good run, but I'm afraid you're all fired. Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta go rig a yacht race.

What? I'll buy you a new cake.

YOU REALLY SCREWED UP THIS TIME!!

Mr. Maellard

Hold on now, Benson. You share as much blame for this as he does. You are his manager.

It's true, Benson. I told you I needed a nap!

You were tired because you were up all night playing video games!

Mr. Maellard

Enough! Rigby's a screw up but discipline starts at the top. So here's what's gonna happen. (opens the drawer and gets some paper and a pen out) One of you is gonna write a letter of resignation by 5 o'clock. No one leaves this office until it's done. And if you can't work it out, you're both fired! (slams door)

This is the last thing I needed today. First, my car breaks down and I have to get a ride from my dad, and now this. All right, Rigby. Stop playing around and write that letter.

Why should I write it? Didn't you hear? Maellard said it was your fault, 'cause you mismanaged me.

Come on, Rigby. We both know this is your fault.

Not now, Benson. I'm reading off my management techniques. There's some good stuff in there. (Benson snatches the book from Rigby) Hey! I was reading that!

Why can't you take anything seriously?!

Why are you so uptight?

Mr. Maellard

What's going on in here? Give me that! This isn't party time, this is write a letter to quit time. And if I have to come back in here, I'm busting heads! (slams door again)

I'm not writing that letter.
