[thinking] I'll make this wacko wish he never tried to control my noggin'! [speaking] Yo! Listen up, you bald-headed freak! According to my math, you're gonna be all washed up in nine turns! That's if you can count!
Where'd he come up with nine?
Look, with Joey, you don't ask.
SSerenity
My brother's so awesome, he's got this whole duel calculated in his head already.
That's right, Serenity. You just keep believing everything he says.
[as Odion pulls out a replica of the Millennium Rod and holds it in front of him; shocked] That must be what he used to control me!
[thinking] The Millennium Rod! I knew Marik would use it to win this duel! That coward can't win on his own!
Point that thing somewhere else and duel like a man!
Look, Marik… Did you say, "very well?"
[thinking] That's a relief. Marik must have realized that Joey's mind is too strong to be controlled. That's why the Millennium Rod didn't work last time.
[thinking] Little do they know that Odion's Millennium Rod is merely a replica of the original item held by me. These fools will never suspect that I am the one they fear and despise so greatly! And while I hide safely in the shadows, Odion will fight my battles for me. But something else concerns me. It's Seto Kaiba and his role in this struggle. Little Yugi isn't the only one standing between me and the power of the Pharaoh, for the ancient tablets also depict a sorcerer, who bears a striking resemblance to Kaiba. And what concerns me even more is what appears to be my Millennium Rod in the hands of this sorcerer! So I'll keep an eye on him as well. And before the finals are over, Kaiba's Egyptian God card, Obelisk the Tormentor, will belong to me! Kaiba could never comprehend that card's power! And as long as Odion continues to deceive everyone into believing he is me, my plan to obtain the two remaining Egyptian God cards and Yugi's Millennium Puzzle should be simple. I'll show Seto Kaiba what true power is all about.
Hey, Seto. If Marik really is the leader of the rare hunters, he must have, like, a ton of rare cards in his deck.
KKaiba
There's only one card in his deck I care about and that's his Egyptian God card, the Winged Dragon of Ra. And hopefully that hack, Joey Wheeler will last long enough in this duel for me to see how Marik's card works so I can win it for myself.
[thinking] Listen to me, Odion. If you can't defeat this pathetic fool, Joey Wheeler, then you don't stand a chance against the Pharaoh! So unless you'd like to take an unexpected journey to the Shadow Realm, I'd suggest you refrain from disappointing me.
[thinking] Yes, Master Marik. I pledge my word that I shall defeat this worthless opponent.
It's time to duel, and destroy you!
Gentlemen, let the duel begin!
Don't count on it, Marik! I'm not scared of you!
Joey's Life Points are low, so he's got to protect himself. Marik may attack with his three serpents in his next turn, and Joey has to be ready!
SSerenity
Hey, guys, what Joey do to get rid of those gross things?
It's not easy. The first thing that boy has to do is keep his Life Points safe.
Your chances of victory have vanished. You'll never recover from the triple onslaught of my Embodiments of Apophis!
Oh, yeah? I'm gonna have to disagree with you. So take this. I place one card facedown and change Alligator's Sword from attack to defense mode.
That seems like a final desperate move to me.
Well, we'll just see. [thinking] As soon as Mr. Personality over here attacks me, I'll activate my Scapegoat magic card. It'll absorb the hits of all three of his slimy reptiles, leaving me safe and sound.
You're about to feel what real power can accomplish, Mr. Wheeler. Now, my three beasts, attack!
Marik, you're in for a surprise! Go, Scapegoat! My Scapegoats will absorb all three of your snake attacks!
Joey's smarter than I thought.
I see. Good move, but not good enough!
Observe, my Magic Jammer!
Bad news, guys. I'm afraid Marik's Magic Jammer trap card cancels out the effect of Joey's Scapegoat magic card.
That evil creep can't win this!
It's time to say farewell to your furry friends and hello to my serpents!
Apophis, attack! Destroy Rocket Warrior and Alligator's Sword! Now, attack his Life Points directly!
[Joey falls to his knees as his Life Points drop down to 200]
He almost lost the rest of his Life Points!
You've lost all your monsters. And now, you're down to 200 Life Points. One more attack and it's over.
You can do this, Joey! You promised to help me defeat Marik. And if you win this duel, he's finished!
[thinking] Wrong, you fool! I'm Marik. And your friend's about to lose at the hands of my servant, Odion!
[thinking] This duel can't end until Marik plays his Egyptian God card! I must see it!
You don't scare me! I'll find a way to crush your oversized scorpion, Marik!
That would be quite an achievement, considering my Mystical Beast of Serket is more powerful than all three of your monsters, Mr. Wheeler. The only question is, which is the first one it should devour? And it's pointless for you to try and stop my ancient creature because there's not a card in your deck powerful enough to do it.
There must be someway he can fight back.
SSerenity
Hey, Yugi... My brother can still win this, right?
Yes. Even though Marik has the upper hand, Joey can still beat him. He just needs to find the weakness of Marik's mystical beast before it wipes out the rest of his Life Points.
What about the card locked inside the ark, the Winged Dragon of Ra?
Yes, that's Marik's Egyptian God card.
[The gang is in Mai's room as she lies down in her bed, after her duel with Marik when he trapped her mind in the Shadow Realm]
SSerenity
Joey, she's not waking up.
She can't hear you. Marik trapped her mind in the Shadow Realm.
SSerenity
[worried] Poor Mai.
This tournament's gotten way out of hand! You know why?
'Cause there's a mind-warping psycho on board? [everyone looks at him] (What?) Just being honest.
Ta-ta, Virtual Kaiba. Soon that will happen to the real McCoy! You see, if your deck master is destroyed, you automatically lose the duel, regardless of life points. And when each of you loses a duel, one of us will take over your body!
I've heard enough! I've defeated you five white-collar has-beens once before and I can easily do it again! No matter what the rules are, I'll still take you down!
[Big Five evil laughing]
Let us out of here, you crotchety old cranks!
We've never even left this room, you fools!
But make no mistake, you kids aren't going anywhere for a long while.
You're trapped and your only chance of escape is to defeat each of us in a virtual duel.
There's no way you're gonna get away with this, you stuffed shirts!
Yeah! We'll kick your big-business butts!
Don't worry, Serenity. We can whip these five geezers one, two, tree. I promise we'll win. And I've never broken a promise to you.
SSerenity
Then promise you'll be careful, Okay.
If we stick together, they won't stand a chance!
Don't worry, I got your back, man.
Pass the jam, 'cause these guys are toast !
Hold on, guys. They never said which of us will actually have to duel.
[chucking] Good question, kid. Just to make sure that you all suffer equally, we'll be dueling against every one of you brats!
Remember, we need to take over five bodies. So the first five of you to lose will have the honor of gaining our minds while yours stay trapped here!
[all gasping]
Ever since you destroyed our bodies, all we've had are our dreams, Mr. Kaiba! Until now! The time has come to make our dreams a reality, by escaping from this virtual abyss and leaving you here in our place for all eternity! [The Big Five evil laughing]
All right, my Deck Master is gonna be Strike Ninja!
SSerenity
I pick… uh, Goddess with the Third Eye.
I choose Super Roboyarou.
And I'll be acting as my own Deck Master, Robotic Knight. And just to make this duel more interesting, we'll be battling above a sea of radioactive waste. Play by the rules and you won't fall in. There's one regulation in particular I'll be strictly enforcing. Under no circumstances are any of you to discuss your strategy with one another. Break this rule and you'll plummet into the toxic abyss below!
SSerenity
Tristan, wait! How can I duel without your advice?
You can do this! Just believe in yourself!
[Duel commences]
The female shall begin this battle. Engage!
SSerenity
Whatever you say. [draws] Here goes! Let's see. Which card should I play? Ahh, that's the one! Now, I'm going to summon Shadow Tamer, in attack mode!
[speechless] Wait! In attack mode?!
SSerenity
Oh, I didn't mess up already, did I?
[thinking] That monster is too weak to play in attack mode!
SSerenity
I'm terrible. Sorry.
Nah, you did just fine. Really! You're a natural!
[thinking] Yeah, a natural disaster.
SSerenity
I'll end my turn now.
All right, Nezbitt! My move! [thinking] I've gotta lead this metal meathead away from Serenity's monster! [speaking] So now I play Cyber Commander! Come and get me, punk!
[thinking] Tristan played a weaker monster than Serenity so Nezbitt will attack him instead! [speaking] I guess it's up to me now! Let's see.
[thinking] Come on, Duke. Use your head for once! Just play a lame monster so Robo-Geek will attack you instead of blasting for Serenity!
I summon The 13th Grave now, in defense mode!
[thinking] Way to look out for your teammates, Duke.
It's time for me to accelerate into high gear, with this! Giga-Tech Wolf! Attack the female's Shadow Tamer!
Oh, no! He went after Serenity's monster!
SSerenity
[heartbroken over the loss of Tristan; thinking] I ruined everything! Thanks to me, Tristan is… who knows where?!
Serenity, we may be able to bring Tristan back, but we gotta play our best! Now it's time for you to get up, brush yourself off, and duel! Serenity! [Serenity doesn't respond back; thinking] It's no use. [speaking] All right, we'll skip her turn!
Very well. It makes no difference to me.
[draws a Dice Dungeon field spell card; thinking] Awesome! This is gonna be tricky, but if it works, it could pay off big time. I just need a little luck. [speaking] I activate Dimensionhole! This magic card removes a monster from the field for one turn and I'm using it on my own monster, Dark Assailant! So your Machine King loses 100 attack points since my Dark Assailant is no longer on the field to give him extra power. And it gets better… check out this magic card!
Play whatever you'd like. There's absolutely nothing that can save you now.
Is that so? Not even this?
A Dice Dungeon magic card?
You don't know me, but let's just say I know a thing or two about dice. And now it's time for me to roll you right out of this duel, 'cause I'm changing this card game into a dice game! Now, I activate Dimension Dice and Dice Dungeon! This transforms the playing field into a dice board.
What exactly do you plan to do with this dice game of yours?
You'll find out soon enough, Nezbitt, when my high rolling sends you back to the junkyard!
I'm afraid you'll need a lot more than a few dice to dismantle a super human machine like myself, so make your move!
For starters, I'll sacrifice Yaranzo and The 13th Grave. This allows me to summon a super human creature of my own. Meet Orgoth the Relentless! Now you longer have those two monsters to give power to your Machine King, which means old tinfoil pants loses 200 more attack points! And now that that's out of the way, it's time for us to start our dice game, and this is how it's gonna work. We'll each pick a monster to step onto the dice board and we'll take turns rolling the die.
As you wish, foolish boy. I'll choose my still-powerful Machine King.
And I'll place Orgoth on the board. All right, I roll first! The die will determine my monster's strength. [the dice lands on a six] Oh, yeah, six, baby! That roll doubles its attack points. Not bad at all. Let's see… that gives Orgoth a total of 5,000 points. Time to see what Machine King's power will be.
[The dice lands on a one]
Ha! You rolled a measly one! That means Machine King loses 1,000 attack points!
Are you making these regulations up as you go?
Check the rulebook. Now the fun starts! Orgoth, prepare for assault! Now attack his Machine King with Diamond Blade Strike! This one's for Tristan! Goodbye, Machine King. Hello, scrap pile!
SSerenity
[thinking] As Joey and Yugi would say, "I have to trust my cards."
Serenity, you already know everything you need to in order to beat this guy!
SSerenity
Right! [thinking] I just have to remember everything Tristan taught me that day… [Flashback to her and Tristan's Duel Monsters strategy talk on the train] So I have to sacrifice my weak monster to summon a stronger one! Well… That means if I want to summon the strong monster in my hand, I have to get rid of my weaker Lady Panther, first! Maybe this game isn't so tough after all! So here goes… [speaking] I sacrifice my Lady Panther so I can summon Marie the Fallen One! Good!
[thinking] I hope Serenity's getting the hang of this, 'cause if she messes this up now, Nezbitt will win the duel in his next turn!
SSerenity
[thinking] I've got the monsters I want… Now I need that Polymerization card so I can fuse them together!
GWGoddess with the Third Eye
Serenity.
GWGoddess with the Third Eye
Fear not, Serenity. As your Deck Master, I carry with me a very special ability. The power of fusion. I have the ability to combine two or more of your monsters together without the need for a Polymerization card. But, you must discard one magic card in order to activate my ability.
SSerenity
Okay, now feast your eyes on this little number, Nezbitt! First I'll dispose of this magic card, so then I can activate the special ability of my Deck Master!
GWGoddess with the Third Eye
Fusion vision…go!
SSerenity
Goddess with the Third Eye, fuse together Marie the Fallen One and The Forgiving Maiden to form… St. Joan!
Impressive. But I'm afraid your monster isn't powerful enough to take me on. [Tristan's Command Angel glows, raising St. Joan's attack points by 400] What's going on? This can't be!
Awesome! Command Angel's special power kicked in! It raised the strength of every fairy monster on the field, including St. Joan!
SSerenity
Thanks to Tristan's monster card, we can still do this!
Now her St. Joan has 3200 attack points.
Yeah, but his Perfect Machine King still has more points. St. Joan needs another power boost!
No way! It's four of the Big Five! We beat you freaks in nature fair and square!
But we still have some unfinished business to take care of.
What do you creeps what from us?
Simple the same thing we've always wanted your bodies!
SSerenity
Now what, Joey?
Don't worry, Sis. This bunch-a-wackos couldn't duel their way out of a paper bag.
What makes you think we want to duel you?
My Associates and I have had enough games. Now it's time for us to take action!
Why duel you when we can take your bodies by force!
[Joey, Serenity and Duke had crashed after a harrowing chase from the four members of the Big Five]
[climbs out of the truck] Are you still in one piece, Duke?
[on the ground] I think so.
Serenity! [pulls his sister out of the truck]
For now, maybe. But soon, all of your bodies will belong to us! Now, which one of you two should I choose to take control of?
Hold on! I want to have first choice, Leichter!
We're going in size order, Crump, so you choose last.
That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard! I'm choosing now!
[hovers down and grabs Crump by the coat] Keep your wings to yourself until I say so!
[arrives with Johnson, who tosses Duke to the ground] Stop it, fools! We don't have time for all this bickering! Choose a body and stick with it!
Enough! Calm yourself! We have to act quickly if we want to escape to the real world!
[looks up at Noah by light] What’s that!
[Johnson looks up at Noah by light so was Joey, Serenity, Tristan and Duke]
Attention fools! This game is over!
Master Noah! Is not what it looks like!
Really? So you’re not breaking my rules? What kind of fool do you take me for!?
Please! I can explain, Noah!
I gave you all the chance to win your freedom and you’re all failed! Now you’ll pay the price!
If they keep this up, I'll never get my body back!
SSerenity
Don't worry, Tristan. Yugi and my brother are gonna win this!
Now that I've cleared the field of all of your monsters, it's time to work on your Life Points! I call Hysteric Angel to the stand! And now, I think our spectators are really going to enjoy this next move. Especially that little monkey-boy up there. [Tristan shrieks angrily] Time to put this body to good use! Now, Hysteric Angel, attack Joseph's Life Points directly!
Well, now I remember why I love your lawyers so much.
If you loved that one, just wait 'til my next move! Angel, use my Catapult Turtle's special ability to launch yourself at the defendant, Mr. Joseph Wheeler!
Well? Now it's time for you five to give Tristan his body back.
I'm afraid you've mistaken me for someone who believes in playing fair!
[shocked] Say what?! All right, it's go time!
[The Big Five charge at Yami Yugi, Joey, Téa, Serenity and Duke]
Now to take five more bodies!
[But then suddenly The Big Five backs away to Tristan's body]
[voice-over] Breaking my rules again, are we?!
[voice-over] You five fools have failed me for the last time!
YYYami Yugi, Joey and Duke
[shocked] What's going on?!
TSTéa and Serenity
[shocked] What's happening?!
[The Big Five scream as they disappear]
Oh, no! They took Tristan's body away with them!
I don't believe it! I'll be stuck in this monkey suit for the rest of my life! And I'm feeling more like a monkey and less like me every second. This stinks!
SSerenity
[hugs Tristan] I'm here for you, Tristan.
On second thought, I can learn to live with this.
Attention, everyone! In accordance with tournament rules, Joey is disqualified! So, the winner of this duel is Marik Ishtar!
[Mokuba and the others climb up on the dueling platform and circle around an unconscious Joey]
SSerenity
[devastated] MY BROTHER!
Let's get him downstairs right away! He needs to see a doctor now!
KKaiba
[thinking] I never thought Wheeler could withstand an attack but the most powerful Egyptian God card!
There goes another soul into the dark abyss of the Shadow Realm to wander the emptiness for eternity!
Joey! Come on, you gotta open your eyes!
SSerenity
Joey! It's me, Serenity! Please! Tell me you can hear me!
[shaking him in tears] YOU BETTER STOP KIDDING AROUND AND GET UP, MAN!
Well, well. Yugi. So, you decided to show up after all.
Of course. To miss this duel is to deny my destiny.
The second duel of the semifinals will now begin!
So, why didn't the nerd herd show up to cheer you on? Are they too busy trying to wake Wheeler up from his nap? [laughs]
Joey is in a great deal of danger now. More than you could ever know.
Wheeler shouldn't have been here in the first place. I warned him not to play with the big boys, and if you ask me, he got just what he deserved… A slap in the face by Ra! And if getting attacked by an Egyptian God card didn't knock any sense into that kid, then nothing will.
That's enough, Kaiba! You have no idea how dangerous this Duel Monsters tournament of yours has become! The outcome of the Battle City finals could put the whole world at risk!
The only one at risk is you! For once I win, you won't be number one!
Kaiba… It's not always about being number one. It's about dueling with bravery, honor and respect! And most importantly, putting the needs of others ahead of your own! And that's something Joey Wheeler did every day of his life. The reason he's in that hospital bed, is because he put himself in harm's way, just to keep a promise to a friend!
Pathetic. Listen, Wheeler can do whatever he wants, but I'm in this thing for one reason only! And that's to win the tournament and be recognized as the greatest duelist in the world! So why don't you save your Girl Scout speech for someone who actually cares. As far as I'm concerned, Wheeler never really belonged here in the first place.
[Meanwhile…]
SSerenity
[sadly in tears] Come on, Joey. Keep fighting! I know you can get through this!
[sees Joey's hand twitching] Check it out!
It's just a reflex. He's still out of it.
