[shaking Meowth] Excuse me, you're a Meowth. Why didn't you know?!
I'm dressed up as a person, so I didn't want to blow my cover! Capiche? [Well, you could have just answered the question like Jeremiah did, and none would be the wiser!]
Pokémon · Season 12
[shaking Meowth] Excuse me, you're a Meowth. Why didn't you know?!
I'm dressed up as a person, so I didn't want to blow my cover! Capiche? [Well, you could have just answered the question like Jeremiah did, and none would be the wiser!]
[Outside, Ash is lying on the grass, frustrated that he can't answer any questions right]
[groans] This stinks!
Relax, you simply show off your true power when you're in battle, see? Desk type work? That's not really your thing.
Pikachu. [He's got a point, you know.]
I wondered about that.
[immediately bolts up] Jeremiah!
For a trainer with six badges, you don't seem to know much. To be honest, I'm surprised.
Hey, I'll do better next time.
I would hope so. [he leaves]
Don't worry. It doesn't change you're a genius in Gym Battles, really.
Yeah, maybe. Hey, where's Dawn and the gang?
I don't know who you are, but you're certainly not trainers, so I'll just take care of you myself! Skuntank, let's go! [summons Skuntank]
Skunky! [Get ready to fight!]
Carnivine, follow suit! [Carnivine gets summoned, but like always, it hugs and bites James in the head affectionately] Great Galoot! Now, please, Vine Whip!
[uses Vine Whip to entangle Skuntank] Carnvine! [Let's see if you can break this Vine Whip!]
Oh dear, use Scratch! [Skuntank can't because it's trapped]
Skun-un-un! [I can't use the move while trapped!]
You can't? Alright, Night Slash! [But like the first time, it can't use Night Slash because it's entangled by Carnivine's Vine Whip]
Un-un! [I'm stuck!]
A class whiz does not make a great battle or made.
Peep's sake!
Spewing facts, battling fake! [While Jeremiah knows theories, he doesn't have battle experience. You need to apply the theories into real skills if you want experience]
I owe you a big thanks for saving Skuntank and an apology for the rude things I said.
Skunnnnn...[He really means it, Ash]
Naaahhh.
Really, after seeing your Ice Aqua Jet, it makes the quiz results seem like nothing. I'm going to put my kiai into it that someday I can battle just like Ash. Today's class was the best one I ever had.
Show us your kiai now! Abomasnow!
Hah. So that is Ash’s strategy? Abomasnow, use Ice Punch.
You said you were serious about wanting to win at Snowpoint City, so why do you still need Torterra to hold your hand? Using a Grass-type in an Ice-type Gym? I guess chuck that blind faith.
Stop right there! Just who do you think you are?!
Zoey, stop!
He has no right talking like that!
It's OK, Zoey.
Hmm!
I just hope tomorrow at the gym battle, Miss Senior wipes the floor with that jerk!
Don't you have an opinion?
At the risk of bragging, nope!
The fate of our future plans is in our hands!
I've got paws!
[mockingly] Alright, what's wrong? And here I thought you wanted to beat the man who defeated your brother.
[bitterly recalling his defeated Nidoking] The truth is, it's only because you defeated Reggie that my victory over you will have meaning. The challenge you always present to Trainers to find their own strength was something my brother wasn't able to do. But I'm not like my brother! My will gives me strength! And now, you'll see it firsthand!
NO! All wrapped up in the past. But why then do you walk the Pokemon path in the first place? Tell me, why do you battle?
[Paul gets visibly furious]
NOW, LAIRON! STANDBY FOR BATTLE!
[Paul recalls his defeated Magmar having suffered a devastating loss against Brandon. He hangs his head in embarrassment.]
Young man, this battle of yours, was this your true battle? You've done an excellent job raising and training your Pokemon but you allowed your emotions to betray you on the battlefield. [Additionally, Paul was also living in the past, treating this battle like a grudge match. Paul hearing this, looks up to Brandon] We will battle again one day when you learned to control them. [Paul, beginning to realize his own errors, silently bows towards Brandon]
Use Stone Edge!
Aaah! Stone Edge? Why? [Don't you just hate when that happens?]
[Ash recall Grotle and Paul recall his Honchkrow]
Ash miscalculated on when to use Synthesis. [Dawn is confused] Using healing moves leaves your Pokemon completely vulnerable. Consider your opponents condition or be an easy target like Grotle.
It sounds like Ash is feeling a lot of pressure.
Do you think so?
Ash wanted Grotle to defeat Honchkrow so badly that it clouded his judgement.
[Ash attempts to recall Buizel]
Buizel, return!
[Buizel stops Ash and gives him the thumbs up signalling he can still battle]
[Chimchar begins to glow]
Chimchar's evolving!
[Seconds later, Chimchar becomes Monferno]
MONFERNO!
That's great! You evolved into Monferno! [Note: Chimchar wasted 129 episodes to evolve into a Monferno. Ash just tried to defeat Paul using Chimchar without any intention of working on the Blaze ability and evolution and pays the ultimate price for evolving Chimchar too late in the journey. This is why the "Chimchar is a strong cute unevolved Pokémon therefore he does not need Blaze ability and evolution to prove his strength" premise is a bad message to fans because Chimchar is a baby mascot and not a genuine ace.]
