[The next day, we are in Sophocles' point of view, where Sophocles imagines that he is being confronted by his classmates for lying to them about moving house]

[Lana blows a raspberry and walks away with Lillie, Mallow, Ash and Kiawe]
[A fantasy featuring Tapu Lele begins as Tapu Lele itself scatters its glowing scales]
[voiceover] Tapu Lele, Akala's island guardian, is known to scatter its glowing scales from time to time. It is said that whoever the scales touch will instantly be healed.
[The camera cuts to Ash in the present]
Oh, yeah. So that's why. [Remembers when Tapu Lele gave him some glowing scales and they healed his hands]
You know what I think? I think Tapu Lele is the guardian of life itself. Its light heals wounds and gives strength to those who need it.
Do you think we'll meet again?
Of course! Just as long as that's what you want. It would make me so happy if you felt Tapu Lele's presence here, and if on our field trip you thought about what life truly means and the relationship between people and Pokémon. [Soon, Olivia, the students and their Pokémon have gone to the port to board a boat that's bound for Akala Island]
Now, all aboard, everybody! [Jumps onto the boat, but she trips up] Uh! Wah! [Hits the wooden floor while the students give awkward looks] Like I said before, nothing to see. Nothing to see.

Interesting. Serious explanations and then belly laughs after she trips.
[Soon, everyone has boarded the boat which is now setting off. Meanwhile, Principal Oak is waving goodbye to the students who wave to him back]

[The title card comes up]
[voiceover] Alola, Kanto!
[Samson, Professor Kukui and his class have arrived at an airport in the Kanto region)
Hope we get to see a Vileplume.

[weakly] Vul... [Lillie picks it up]

[The camera cuts to Brock who is carrying a black case]
Would you mind if I examine it? See, I'm actually studying to become a Pokémon doctor.
That would be great. We got off the plane, when all of a sudden...
Leave it to me. [Kneels down to attend to Snowy]
[Meanwhile, a disguised Team Rocket arrive carrying their luggage]
Ugh, this is so depressing.
Going through all this to get to headquarters.
[angrily] So why do we have to take orders from that bob-cut-and-glasses gal, anyway?
We'll get more lectures than all of my school years combined.
[to Matori who is inside a hexagonal bubble] Go away. Go away. GO AWAY!
Hey, no sweat. If we give Loser Locks this honey malasada, she's sure to get in a good mood. [disappointedly agrees] Yeah, like that's gonna work.
[Meanwhile, Snowy is being examined by Brock]
Just as I suspected. Just a little air sickness.
[The camera cuts to Professor Kukui, Samson and the rest of the class]
I wonder what's keeping Lillie.
[Then, they see Lillie with Brock]
Huh? Whoa! Is that Brock?!
[runs to Brock with Pikachu] Heyyy! Brock!
[But then, Brock sees a flight attendant lady passing by]
[lovestruck] Whoa! [Runs past Ash and Pikachu causing them to spin]
Ahh... Such a lovely flight attendant in all her radiance. [Takes out a bouquet of flowers] It would be paradise if we flew the lovely skies together! Chasing clouds with you... Soaring... on love's wings. [Gets pulled by the ear by someone's hand] Ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-OW!
[We see that the person grabbing Brock's ear is Misty]
All right. I come all the way to pick you up at the airport, and this is the thanks I get?!
[releases her grip and waves to Ash] Hey Ash! How have you been doing?
Pika-pika! [Jumps into Misty's arms]
Long time, no see, Pikachu!
The Cerulean Gym has the Cascade Badge.
And this badge is proof of victory at the Pewter Gym, the Boulder Badge.
[The class all stares in awe]
[to Ash] You won all the badges from the Kanto region, didn't you, Ash?
Sure did! You can win eight Badges and I won them all.
In my case, I gave him my badge out of pity! [Actually, Misty's sisters gave him the badge for stopping Team Rocket from stealing the Cerulean Gym Pokémon]
Say, that story has a familiar ring. [Brock gave Ash the badge despite Ash forfeiting his match due to not wanting to win through cheating]
Hey Ash, what's that supposed to mean?
[nervously laughing before backing off] And after you collected all eight badges, you can compete in the Pokémon League! [This is hinted that Ash did not seem proud of earning these badges out of pity nor what he was like in the past]
[Komala rolls over, bringing the scene to the Pokémon school, where Professor Kukui and his students are in the classroom]
Has everybody brought their own clay?
Would you like to share mine?
Thanks, Kiawe. [The camera pans to the right and reveals a clay mountain] All that?
Now, class, today you're going to sculpt your Pokémon partner, closely observing it while you work might lead you to discover something new.
Let's see. Who should I make? Nebby and Rowlet are asleep so, OK, Pikachu, I choose you.
Now, stay perfectly still.
[The camera cuts to Lana who is trying to sculpt Popplio]

Please make a balloon. [Popplio makes a balloon] Stop. Now, hold that pose. Stay still, okay.
[Popplio's balloon goes wobbly and then, it pops, soaking Lana and itself. Meanwhile, Sophocles has not started sculpting]
RDRotom Dex
It's the same.
[The camera cuts to a clay model of Turtonator which was done by Kiawe]
All done. It's Turtonator. [Turtonator cheers, but then the clay model's head looks down] No, it's not stable enough. [to Turtonator] Turtonator, get down. [Turtonator stands on four legs] That's it. Perfect. [Starts making the clay model again]
[Meanwhile, Mallow has also not started sculpting her clay model]
Now give me a cute pose. [Steenee gives a cute pose] Ah, perfect.
[The camera cuts to Sophocles' clay model which is now spinning on a pottery wheel]
All right, let's try you, Togedemaru.
I'm going to faithfully recreate Togedemaru's spikes. My super deluxe pottery wheel and carbon sculptor.
[Everyone, except Lillie, goes to admire Sophocles' invention]
Sophocles, why are you waiting?
[Meanwhile, Lillie has finished sculpting Snowy who admires her work]
It probably would be better if I slimmed it down a little bit.
[Cut to Ash who has sculpted a Mimikyu]
It looks more like a Mimikyu, not a Pikachu.
[The clay Mimikyu's head falls]
[The camera cuts to Rowlet sleeping in Ash's backpack...]
[...unaware that Nebby has managed to climb out]
[Everybody goes up the elevator to get their ride Pokémon. First, Ash and Pikachu climb aboard a Garchomp]

[The gates open for each Ultra Guardian and their ride Pokémon, and each of the platforms they are standing on rotate 180 degrees. Then, they get sent up one by one. At the same time, the Alolan Exeggutors that stand outside the Pokémon School lean back as the river opens up, forming a waterfall. A platform in the water rises, as do the Ultra Guardians on their Pokémon. Then, the platforms go rolling along and the Pokémon go flying out of the waterfall and into the sky, with Garchomp and Metang going first]

The Ultra Guardians, their mission - investigate Wela Volcano and find the reason for this magnetic anomaly.
[Soon, some of the lava from Wela Volcano is bubbling and the Ultra Guardians have landed somewhere nearby for their ultra-important mission]
Checking from the sky isn't enough. We should investigate on foot.
Got it. [Steps up to Kiawe] So, how do we investigate a magnetic anomaly?
I borrowed a portable sensor.
[We see through Sophocles' portable sensor and see Ash and Kiawe in a black and white picture]
You can find an anomaly with that?
Right. And since we have two sensors, we should all probably split up into two groups.
Lillie's right. I'll search the area near the mines with Ash and Sophocles.
Got it. Then the three of us should check out the area we're in right now.
[The Ultra Guardians return their ride Pokémon to their Ultra balls]

Maro-Marowak! [Togedemaru and Pikachu follow it]
[Kiawe, Ash and Sophocles go off to the mines with their partner Pokémon]
Now, let's see. [Her sensor starts up with a greyscale screen. Bright green triangles and arrows appear as they turn red right to left]
[Then, the three girls are shocked to discover three hikers. In real life, they are wearing green vests and carrying big brown backpacks]

Yo! Yo! Yo! [They scurry off]

I get the feeling I've seen them before.
[noticing the shaggy haired Eevee playing well with Popplio]
LLana
Eevee loves the sea for sure. [After a few moments of Eevee and Popplio later] Sandy.

Huh? You named it before you caught it?
You're getting ahead of yourselves.
Yeah, you're doing things backwards.

Attention, please! I'm happy to say that we have guests today!

[They can see a large pond with a fountain feature]

Then we can move on to a battle.

Huh? [Sandy jumps in the pond, but when Lana tries to jump in, Farley grabs her by the hand] No! Don't do it! You have to cross over the water, but you're not allowed to swim.
[Farley places a box down]

You're welcome to use these tools. Or you and your Pokémon can work together instead. The point is to make it across to the other side.
[Ash picks up a water shoe]
Whoa, how do you get it to work?
FFarley
Watch. [Places a water shoe on the floor] Like this. You put it on like so. [Puts his right foot in the water shoe. Soon, he is wearing two water shoes as he glides across the pond] And then you simply glide across.
Amazing. Like walking on water.
[Kiawe builds up his Z-Move]
Now! Here we go, Charizard! The zenith... of my mind! Of body... and spirit! With the great power of Akala! Ride the blazing hot winds and fly high! Supersonic Skystrike!
[His Charizard goes high into the sky]
Now, Vikavolt! Use Wild Charge! [Vikavolt uses Wild Charge and collides with Charizard] Concentrate your power. Locate a weak point and stop that Z-Move!
[As the two Pokémon battle, Rotom Dex, Ash and the girls talk]

It's holding the Z-Move back!

That's so incredible!
[Then, we see the Pokémon who are watching the match but then, Charizard's Supersonic Skystrike overpowers Vikavolt's Wild Charge as Charizard forces Vikavolt to the ground. Charizard is still standing, but Vikavolt shudders and then faints]
Vikavolt is unable to battle, which means Kiawe is the winner!
[Kiawe smiles and goes over to Sophocles who is now attending to Vikavolt]
Vikavolt! Thanks for the great battling. You gave it your all.
You were amazing, Sophocles.
Thanks. Next time I won't lose.
All right. Then I'll keep getting stronger so that I can keep up.
[Kiawe and Sophocles shake hands while their classmates and Professor Kukui watch. Meanwhile, at Sophocles' house, Sophocles' parents have been watching the match on their flatscreen TV]

You see, ever since Pikachu and I came to Alola, we've met you and tons of Pokémon. We learned lots of things at the Pokémon School. Yeah, it's been really the best, but now, I think... I'm going back home for a while and then I'm going to check out some other places.
Pika! [Jumps down onto Ash's right arm]
That'll give me a new chance to meet more new people and tons of new Pokémon and have a lot of Pokémon battles and get stronger and stronger. Someday, I'll do what I set out to do - become a Pokémon Master!
[realising that Ash has a new goal in life] You're not just talking about this vacation, you're really going...
[putting his right hand over his mouth] Aw, man. How about a warning, huh?
Yeah, really! W-What a shock!
The only surprise today was supposed to be Lillie's party.
It seems like I'm getting nothing but surprises, you know?

[At the docks, near a cruise ship, the Pokémon are saying their goodbyes to Lillie and her family's Pokémon. Meanwhile, Professor Burnet is hugging Lusamine who is dressed in blue]
Take care, Lusamine. [She and Lusamine step back and reveal Gladion and Lillie who are also wearing smart clothes to wear on their journey of searching for their father, Mohn]
[The camera cuts to Ash and his friends who have come with them to the docks]
I'll have a souvenir from Mossdeep City waiting for you when you get back, Lillie!
That's something to look forward to.

[Soon, the cruise ship leaves the dock, and Lillie, Gladion and their mother Lusamine are among the passengers. They see everyone on the dock waving goodbye, including Ash, Lana, Sophocles, Professor Kukui, Professor Burnet, Faba and Hobbes. Then, after several flashbacks, Lillie runs to the stern of the ship to give Ash a proper farewell]
Ash, can you hear me?! You know what? I'm really happy I got to meet you! You helped me out so much! After meeting you, I was finally able to become friends with Pokémon!
THANK YOU! [both Snowy and Megearna also bid farewell to Ash]
