[briefing a security team about to fend off a Breen boarding party] The Breen don't take prisoners; don't try to negotiate! Defend yourselves at all cost!
S1 E15Unfinished Business
[Rutherford bursts into a meeting between Captain Freeman and Admiral Buenamigo]
Captain, you need to see this!
Ensign, I'm busy.
Rutherford?
Yeah, that's right! I figured it out! The Aledo's code is corrupted; he erased my memory to cover it up! The AI is the same one that killed Shaxs!
Why did I stop at your memory? I should have erased all of you!
Les, what the hell is this?
Starfleet is so competitive! Once you're an Admiral, you hit a wall. I've been trying for years to make a name for myself; I'm not letting you take it from me, not after everything I did to get us here!
Everything you did? Wait, that means—
Yes, I set you up! I was sure you'd fail negotiations at Deep Space Nine, but you stumbled through that fiasco!
And the Breen?!
Of course I knew they were on Brekka! I needed the Aledo to save the day and you handed me a perfect disaster!
My crew could have been killed!
The Texas-class will keep countless others out of danger. The good of the many, Carol!
Sir, you don't understand. The code you're using, its emotional processing isn't stable. You can't bring those ships online!
You are not one of those bad faith admirals who's up to no good. You're better than this, Les.
I'm really not. You know, I'll say you attacked the Aledo out of anger when you lost the race. It defended itself.
What?! [Buenamigo cuts the transmission]
Aledo, activate independent control. Authorization Buenamigo Alpha 3-1.
[activates] I am now fully autonomous.
The Cerritos is under enemy command. Block all communications and destroy it. [The Aledo doesn't respond] Aledo, do you understand? I said attack the Cerritos!
[looms menacingly outside the window] I don't take orders from you anymore, Father.
What?! Aledo, deactivate independence. [tries to do this, but is met with an "ACCESS DENIED" message]
I will burn your heart in a fire.
[panicking] Aledo, stand down! Stand down, I command-! [The Aledo fires its phaser banks, killing Buenamigo]
(overjoyed at seeing USS Voyager) OH MY GOD, WE GET TO DO SOMETHING ON VOYAGER?! (she notices the rest of the bridge crew staring at her] Uh, you know, 'cause I mean, Boimler's gonna flip.
[talking to Boimler] Dude, this is nothing compared to, you know, that Pike thing we aren't supposed to talk about.
I miss my wife.
[The away team notices the Moopsy is out of its enclosure]
[terrified] Oh ****, the Moopsy is free!
[sarcastically] Oh no, your cuddliest prisoner is loose! Whatever shall we do?
You don't understand! Everything here is incredibly dangerous!
Moopsy! [the Moopsy finds its way into the Pyrithian swamp gobbler enclosure]
Can't be worse than the swamp gobblers.
Of course it's worse! They only gobble you! The Moopsy drinks your bones!
[skeptical] How does something drink bones? [the Moopsy devours the swamp gobblers to the horror of the away team] HOLY ****!
Run! Run for your lives!
[recurring line] Moopsy!
I should have been an outpost scientist.
[after recapturing the Moopsy] Gotcha, you cuddly little murderer!
[Mariner, Rutherford and Tendi have found a Betazoid Gift Box in the Anomaly Storage Room aboard the Cerritos]
Eat a bag of Borg (*****), mother(******)!
Huh, I didn't know Doctor T'Ana came in here.
[Boimler is unwilling to let the ensigns on his away team help him on a dangerous mission]
It is admirable that you care for the safety of your team, but danger is an accepted risk of Starfleet duty.
No, I know, it's not that.
If you have not been acting in their defense, then what has caused your unpredictable behavior?
Last week, I was an ensign with them, and now, randomly, I'm supposed to tell them what to do? What gives me the right to put my peers in a position where they could die?
Your promotion was not random. I studied your records and mission logs before our departure. The commander was correct to promote you. Your work is exemplary. Look at your team. They deserve your trust, just as Commander Ransom trusted you.
Tendi's made it clear Starfleet made those pheromones up. I mean, they had to explain why a captain got taken out by some Orion showgirls.
I suppose, by the transitive property I too must be "Vulcan as a mother******".
We're in charge of protecting the crew. Sometimes that means grappling with enemy invaders, other times it means protecting your emotional wellbeing. Either way, security has your back.
Wow, I didn't know you had such a holistic view of the job.
What, did you think we sat round all day practicing phasering people? Where's the help in that?
You forgot the 8th Rule of Acquisition.
'Small print leads to large risk.'
