[giggles] Okay, the story goes: the Magical Mermaid is relaxing peacefully with her Pokémon, Seel, when two evil villains suddenly appear. [she and Lily playfully place prop swords near Misty's neck]

We tie you up and try to make you tell us where the sunken treasure is. But when you won't tell us, we get really rough.
[nervous] Uh, can we use a stand-in for this part? [gets bonked in the head by Violet] Ow!

I'm doing you the favor, remember? So, stop picking on me! I'm doing the best I can!
Okay, then Daisy comes out all dressed up as the charming prince. And she, like, fights off the villain and saves you.
Hyah! [waves her prop sword around like she's fighting the villains] Uh! Y'ah!
The Magical Mermaid and the prince fall totally in love and raise a whole lot of Seel and live happily ever after.
[clapping] Seel, Seel, Seel, Seel.
[applauding] I like that charming prince.

[after Ash made a failed attempt to surf like Jan] I guess Ash must be practicing his wipeouts. Right, Togepi?
[chirps in agreement]
[climbs up to his board, but suddenly] Huh?! [his foot cramps up underwater] Ah, my foot! Something's wrong with my foot! [a wave splashes over him; meanwhile, the blue-eyed Pikachu senses what's happening and runs off] Help! Help!
[gasps upon hearing Ash's cries]
Help! Somebody! Help!
It's Ash!
Pika.
[Brock rushes out to help Ash as he manages to swim to his board.]
Ash, what's wrong?
It's my foot! [screams as a large wave crash over him]

[But before Brock can do anything, an even bigger wave head toward Ash.]

[Before the wave comes down on an unconscious naked Ash, the man from earlier rescues him on a surfboard with his Pikachu on the nose of the board, to the surprise of our heroes.]

[Puka tilts the board so that it heads to the pipeline of the wave.]
Puka, shoot the curl!

[The two shoot the curl and get Ash to shore and safety, while Ash, who is naked, wakes up briefly and sees what he thinks to be Pikachu in front of him.]

This is my cabin. How are you, kid? I know you are naked, so do you hurt anywhere?

[groans in frustration] Hey, let's go down the Pokemon village and buy some souvenirs. [tries to get Ash up from the bed] Maybe they'll have some--
[pulls away] Just leave us alone.

[sits up] Well, I don't want your help.

[stands up from the bed] Just get out.

[Brock and Delia run in]

One could only advance so far relying on strength and intuition. Trainers must learn to battle with a deeper understanding of each Pokémon's natural abilities.

[The episode opens on a footpath as the camera pans up to reveal that the footpath actually leads to Pallet Town]
After battling in the Pokémon League competition at the Indigo Plateau... [The camera fades to outside Professor Oak's Laboratory where a party is about to start] ...Ash and his friends return to Pallet Town for a hero's welcome.
[We see Ash, Pikachu, Professor Oak and Delia standing on a yellow table, holding drinks. Misty and Brock, meanwhile, are standing on the grass and holding their drinks]
Uh, I'm very happy to be back in Pallet home, and to everybody who supported me throughout the Pokémon League, I just want to say "thank you very much."

And thanks to Ash for representing us so well.
And we all owe Professor Oak a big thank you for hosting us here today. Now, let's start the party!

[With his mouth full] You're right. Geodude, Onix, Zubat, Vulpix, it's time to come out and chow down! Aaaah, ah!

[Brock and Misty's Pokémon come out of their Poké balls]

But, I... [Thinks back to when Charizard disobeyed him, breathes fire at him and napped during the Indigo League, thus costing Ash his match in Round 5 and letting Ritchie win. Then, Ash returns to the present] OK, OK. I'll invite Charizard next time.
Okay, everybody! Time to dig in!
[The Pokémon join in as Psyduck trips up]

I think he's grown up a lot since being in the Pokémon League. Don't you? Huh?

[Ash and Pikachu are running as they run past some of the partygoers]
Let's eat fast so we can eat again! [Laughs]
Pikachu.
[sighs]
[First lines. The episode opens in a forest as the camera pans down to Ash, Misty and Brock who are walking in the fog]
Once again, our heroes have left the comforts of Pallet Town behind them. Their sights set on a new goal. Now, Ash and his friends are heading for New Bark Town, and the Johto League. Well, maybe.
Pika, Pi! ("Ash!")

[pointing ahead] Pika, Pika. ("Look up ahead.")
What, Pikachu? [Looks up and sees a branch above him] Yeah, that branch looks familiar.

[collapses] Now we've been walking around in circles all day! You said you knew where we were going and we're totally lost, now! Where do we go?!

[The camera cuts to Ash who is standing with his arms folded. He then walks up to Misty]
Come on, Misty, let's go. We're waiting for your directions.

Well, this is gonna be a brand new experience for you.
[yells at Ash] WE'RE NOT LOST 'CAUSE OF ME!
Hey! Yelling never solves anything, so just calm down! You two have to learn to be more mature like me.

[Then, a strange creature catches Togepi's senses]
Toge. [Jumps out of Misty's arms] Toge, Togepi!
[Pikachu goes after Togepi]

[The title card comes up]
