[Trevor and Elvis are dozing by the bus stop and Norman Price sneaks up behind them and gives them red spots on their faces]
Ho, ho. I'm glad I spotted you here. Hee, hee.
Fireman Sam · Season 1
[Trevor and Elvis are dozing by the bus stop and Norman Price sneaks up behind them and gives them red spots on their faces]
Ho, ho. I'm glad I spotted you here. Hee, hee.
[At Bella's Café, Bella is showing her ring to Dilys]
Is a family heirloom, it's a beautiful, no, Mrs. Price?
They can work wonders in class these days, can't they?
[Trevor enters the café]
Good morning, ladies! Oh, a double dose of beauty to behold. Lucky me.
Oh! Oh, you are a card.
I'll have a cup of tea, please, Bella, my lovely. [Sees the ring on Bella's finger] Goodness me! You got a diamond the size of a sugar lump. [Bella goes over to the sink and puts a cup of tea in the sink] You haven't gone and got yourself engaged, have you?
Don't be daft, man, she inhabited that ring.
[Then, Norman comes into the café]
Mum, there's a man in the shop.
Tell him I'm closed for lunch!
From the VAT! [Leaves the café]
Oh! Excuse me! [Gets out of her seat and walks out of the café] Norman, come back here this minute! What exactly did you tell him?
[Meanwhile, Bella gives Trevor his cup of tea]
Now, come on, my lovely, let's have another dekko at that rock of yours. [Bella shows him her left hand, but her ring is gone] Oh. Um, Bella? Where is it?
[checks her left hand] Oh, mamma mia! She disappear into slim air.
Well, no no you had it on when you washed those cups up.
Come here. [Walks back to the sink] It - it must be in the sink. [Looks in the sink and finds that her ring has gone completely] Oh, no no, it's not.
Well, no it's just gone down the plughole, see? I'll bet you anything it has. [Puts his screwdriver inside Bella's sink] We'll just, uh, take the grill off the pole. No, it's too small for my hand. Now, see, I'll try and get it from uh, from underneath. [Starts inspecting underneath the sink]
I no no. Ah, maybe my hand defeat.
Now, which one is the worst. [Touches one of the two small pipes] Um, is this? No no, no no, it must be this one. [Pulls the other small pipe and water comes rushing out, some of which squirts Trevor in the face] Oh! Blooming heck!
Trevor, what have you done?
Oh, come. Come over here, Bella, quick!
I can't! My hand is a stuck in the plughole!
[At the fire station, Penny Morris answers the telephone]
Pontypandy Fire Station... Oh, hello, Sam. Sunning yourself on the Costa del Porthcawl?
[on the other line] No. No, not quite. I'm in the phone box outside Dilys' shop. I was wondering how things are going.
We're all fine here.
Everything in the garden is lovely then, isn't it?. You don't need, uh, anything doing?
Well, if you're desperate for something to do, you could always weed my garden.
Oh, no problem. [while Penny is surprised by this immediate acceptance] I'll be there in two ticks. [hangs up the phone and mutters to himself] I've had enough taking it easy to last me a year.
[Sarah and James Jones are sitting outside Penny's house, waiting for the fire brigade to come and rescue Sam, who is stuck inside deep soil]
You can't drown in soil, can't you?
Don't say things like that!
[Final lines in the original series. In her café, Bella gives Norman a plate with a burger and some chips]
Hamburger and chips, Norman, your favourite.
Oh, thanks. [Picks up his burger and takes a bite] Mmmmm. Hey, Penny, can I have a lick with my burger now? Ha hey! Ha hey! [Licks the ketchup on his wrist]
[to Penny] See, I've tried to bring him up proper, Penny, I don't know where he gets it from. [Puts her finger on some mustard bottle and tastes it]
[Meanwhile, Station Officer Steele is congratulating everyone as he joins Sam and Elvis at their table]
Well done, everyone, lunch is on the fire service. Um....
Lunch here? But what about my curry?
Yes, uh, well I think it's probably, uh, dried to a frazzle now, Cridlington. Still, can't be helped.
I-I suppose so, sir. [Smiles] Hey, as Bella's so busy, I could give her hand with the cooking. [Leaves the table]
Oh, dear.
Aye, well good try, anyway, sir.
[Sam, Elvis and Penny are standing in position while Station Officer Steele addresses them.]
Jupiter is in good order, thank you. Now, the children are on holiday, and you know what that means.
Norman Price getting into trouble.
Not just Norman. It could be any one of Pontypandy's children. So stand by for heads stuck in railings, children stuck up trees and...
[while Penny chuckles] ...Sheep falling off Pontypandy Mountain, sir?
That would be a Mountain Rescue situation.
I think Officer Cridlington was joking, sir.
No he isn't, Penny. We had to rescue Woolly Wonders before now.
Anyway, we have to expect the unexpected and the watchword is "vigilance."
And that means keeping an eye on Norman Price.
[Norman Price has just climbed to a high ledge on Pontypandy Mountain when Woolly the Sheep lands on top of his head.]
Oof! Bloomin' pebbles are getting bigger! The weather forecast didn't say anything about raining sheep today!
[Fire alarm rings as Penny takes the note out of the fax machine]
A boy is stuck on Pontypandy Mountain with a sheep.
Norman Price!
[Tom Thomas, in his helicopter, lowers a harness over Sam Jones in order for him to rescue Norman from the ledge.]
[to Norman] Right, Norman, this what I'm going to do: I'm going to put this harness on and swing across to pick you up.
Like Tarzan, you mean?
No. Tarzan wasn't a trained firefighter, was he? This is safe.
[Scene opens at the fire station all covered in snow and Station Officer Steele is shivering]
This cold weather won't make our job any easier, you can't fight fire with ice cubes.
No sir, but this antifreeze should stop the hoses from freezing up.
Quite. Cridlington! [Sees that Elvis isn't listening] Oh, I say!
[Station Officer Steele walks over to Elvis who is wearing earmuffs]
CRIDLINGTON!
Yes Station Officer Steele sir!
See if you can get that icicle off.
[Elvis bends down and examins the icicle that's blocking the outside tap]
And be careful, the tips very sharp.
[Elvis stands up, only to rip his scarf on the icicle]
Yes sir, it is sir. Gone right through my scarf it has sir!
[Norman and Woolly sneak into Station Officer Steele's office at the fire station]
Bingo, this is perfect!
[Norman sets Woolly down while Woolly is bleating]
You'll be as warm as toast in here, see you later.
[Woolly makes his way to Station Officer Steele's chair and sets himself down on it, at that moment, Station Officer Steele walks in thinking that Woolly is a cushion]
Ah, a sheepskin cushion, just the thing for this cold weather
[As Station Officer Steele is about to sit down, Woolly bleats and alarms him]
What the-?! Look here! MEN!.
[Sam, Penny and Elvis walk in the office surprised to see Woolly there]
Yes sir.
This is a fire station not a farm! Get that fleecy flea bag out of here!
[Scene cuts to Station Officer Steele holding Woolly outside the fire station]
And see he doesn't darken my door again!
[Station Officer Steele sets Woolly down and goes back inside, Woolly slips on the ice and knocks Norman over]
Don't worry Woolly, leave it to me and you'll be snug as a bug in a rug, the cafe's warm, you can stay there 'til I get your bed ready.
[At Bella's Café, Bella is polishing her counter when Rosa comes over to her meowing at her]
Was a matter Rosa? Why you not a snuggle up in your basket? it's a nice and a warm by the pizza oven.
[They make their way to the pizza oven only to discover Woolly asleep in Rosa's basket]
Mamma Mia!
[Woolly wakes up and gets out of Rosa's basket]
There you are.
Norman, your a Woolly is a bully, he pusha my Rosa out of her bed, he is a baaad!, from a the cafe!
Okay, but we need something to keep us warm [he looks at the table clothe] can I borrow this?
Yes, yes, just a take him out please!
[Bella places Rosa back into her bed]
Come on Woolly, I got something to show you.
[While on their way to Dilys' shop, Jupiter suddenly skids on a patch of black ice]
Great fire of London! Black ice!
phew, saved us you did Sam.
Now to save Dilys and Norman.
Thank you Sam, thank you, me and my poor Norman could've lost everything.
Well at least this little fella's safe.
Snuggle Bun!
[Norman takes his Snuggle Bun hot water bottle from Sam, but quickly hides it behind his back from Bella]
It was your electric blanket that caused the fire Dilys.
That's strange?, I've had it 40 years and it's never been a problem before.
You have to be careful with old ones, if you don't store them right they can be dangerous.
So where are you going to sleep now Norman?
I'm too tired to care, anywhere will do, Mam, can Woolly stay with me?
All right then, just this once.
Thanks mam.
[Scene opens at the fire station, where we see Penny doing maintenance on Jupiter while sing the song London's Burning]
London's burning, London's burning, call the engines, call the engines, Fire fire, Fire fire, pour the water.
[At that moment, Elvis comes into the picture and picks up the grease gun with curiosity]
What's this for Penny, washing the wax out of an elephants ear?
[Then, he suddenly squirts himself with grease]
Oh! Great balls of fire!
It's a grease gun, hand it over Elvis, I need to grease the squeaky wheel, It's been driving Sam mad.
[Then right on cue, Sam walks in carrying two hard hats with lights on them]
Oh, need a hand Sam?
No thank you Elvis [He puts the hard hats in Jupiter, but then notices Elvis' face] Elvis, just look at your face! Are you going on the war path?
[Elvis notices the grease on his face and then looks at his reflection on Jupiter's mirror]
No, I had an accident with Penny's grease gun.
Well you better go and get cleaned up. We can't let standards drop just because Station Officer Steele's away!
[Penny chuckles]
