What's this?
Things we studied in mathematics. That's long division. It looks a lot harder than it is. It's nothing to worry about.
Nothing to worry about? It's just like Too-Tall said! It's too hard!
Oh dear, you've worked yourself into a tizzy!

What's this?
Things we studied in mathematics. That's long division. It looks a lot harder than it is. It's nothing to worry about.
Nothing to worry about? It's just like Too-Tall said! It's too hard!
Oh dear, you've worked yourself into a tizzy!
Do you know what a synonym is?
[Sister mistakenly believes Brother and says "cinnamon"]
Uh-huh. It's my favorite spice. Like synonym toast and synonym buns...
[laughs] No, that's"cinnamon". I said "synonym". It's word that's spelled differently, but it means the same thing.
[chuckles] Too busy?
I promised Brother I'd make a picture.
You can make me a picture at kindergarten, Sister. They've got lots of paint, crayons and every markers you can think of.
But I want to hear my storybooks!
They have lots of books at kindergarten, too. With stories you haven't heard before.
I was going to build something with my Toy blocks.
They have enough blocks to build a Toy castle at kindergarten. That was one of Brother's things about school.
There's a tub of blocks bigger than you.
What do you say, Sister? Can you give kindergarten a try?
And so, you went with Brother on the bus for your first day of school.
Is it all right if I sit here?
Uh-huh!
[When they get to school]
Welcome to Bear Country School. My name is Miss Honey Bear, and I'm your new kindergarten teacher! Would you like to come inside and meet your new classmates?
[When it's time for recess, all the cubs go out to play. Mama Bear comes to school to see how Sister is doing. The cubs who are heading out to recess bump into Mama.]
[realizes] Mama, why are you here?
Oh, I just thought I would stop by to see how you were doing.
I'm having fun! Brother was right, they do have lots of paint colors, more than a hundred!
[chuckles] Is that right?
And they do have a big tub of blocks, just like Papa said. Lizzy and I built a giant castle!
Lizzy?
Uh-huh, she's my new friend.
New best friend.
[shakes hands with Lizzy] Pleased to meet you, Lizzy.
Hi, we're having recess!
And what do you do at recess?
[to Lizzy] Do you know?
This is my first one!
[chuckles] I'll help you get started! Come on over to the swings and I'll push you.
Okay!
That's a good idea!
[The flashback ends]
Huh?
Suitcases?
So our reservations for Grizzly Mountain Lodge are all set? Thank you so much, see you soon.
Reservations?
We're going on vacation!
Well, actually, it's a second honeymoon.
Still sounds like fun.
Mmmm! Especially the honey part.
I haven't seen these in ages. I wonder if my serve is still... [falls to the ground] Ow!
Papa, are you okay?
Maybe you should just let Brother and me play tennis on the honeymoon.
You and Mama can keep score.
Sorry, sweeties, but honeymoons aren't for cubs. Honeymoons are special trips that couples go on after they get married. It's an old tradition.
Grizzly Mountain Lodge is where Mama and I went on our first honeymoon.
But what about us?
Well, you're going on a special trip of your own.
[gasps] Is it Grizzly World?
Is it Honeycomb Amusement Park?
You're going to Grandma's.
[shocked] Gran's?
That should do it. Board games, books, my yo-yo. I wonder if I should bring my chemistry set.
I'm bringing puzzles, coloring books and teddy bear.
Beep beep. Coming through! Hey, what's all this doing out here?
Well, we are going to Gran's for a whole week. We need to keep busy.
[chuckles] Come on, now. You always have fun at Gran's house without all this stuff!
When we go for one afternoon, maybe. [whispers to Mama Bear] and Gran and Gramps are old.
Maybe they'll want to take naps all day.
[Papa closes the trunk of the car]
Papa, what about our toys?
You won't need all those. You're going to have too much fun with Gran and Gramps. I wonder if the lodge still has canoe rides on the lake.
And live music in the dance hall.
Now for my favorite part of lunch. Dessert.
Oh no! Gran forgot the honey for the honey buns!
No, she didn't. Gran makes the buns, And I make the honey, with some help of course.
Watch it, Gramps! They'll sting you!
I do this all the time. First, you smoke the bees out to calm them down, then you gently pry the hive open, loosen up a frame and pull out the honeycomb.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
A horse?
[Brother and Sister gallop likes horses]
We can ride it to school!
[slows them down] Whoa! Nobody said anything about a horse.
A horse would need a fenced corral with lots of room to run. Our yard's just too small.
And do you know how much a horse eats? More oats than I can afford!
I want a pet that's warm and cuddly.
If you want something warm and cuddly, you should just get your old blanket.
Well, if you want a pet that's cold and slimy, you should get some slime!
[walking to them] What's all the commotion about?
[waking to Papa and Sister] None of the pets that Sister wants are any fun!
All the pets that Brother wants are too weird!
They are not!
ARE TOO!
Now settle down. We'll go to the pet store. Maybe they'll have something you can both agree on.
The pet store? Okay.
[The scene dissolves to Mama Papa Sister and Brother in the family car on the way to the pet store]
Now remember, cubs...
We know.
Nothing that eats bugs.
[laughs] Or smells bad.
Hey! [sees Farmer Ben running around.] What's Farmer Ben doing?
It looks like his chickens are on the loose. Let's give him a hand.
[Papa parks the car so they can see what Farmer Ben is doing]
Come back here! Uh... Heal! Oh boy. Sit!
Heal?
Sit?
Farmer Ben must be trying to train his chickens.
[A litter of puppies race towards Brother and Sister]
Puppies!
Aw! They're so cute!
These pups are getting to be quite a handful. I'm going to have to put an ad on the paper to see if I can find them good homes.
Can we have one? Please?
I don't know.
We'll think about it.
What do we have to think about?
Well, for one thing, there are the vet bills to consider.
Not to mention dog tags and licenses. All of that costs money.
[hands Mama the puppy] We can save up our allowance money to help pay for it.
[the puppy licks Mama] Oh my. It is kind of cute.
We'll take it.
Yay! We're getting a puppy!
Let's call him Prince.
[chuckles] That's a fine name for a boy dog, but I'm afraid the one you're holding is a little lady.
Maybe that's what we should call her, Little Lady.
Wait until you see your new home! You're really going to like it!
What are you doing here?
What am I doing here? What are you doing here? You're supposed to be looking after Lady.
No I'm not! I won the coin toss, remember?
That was for cleaning up her accident.
It was for cleaning up her accident and looking after her!
No it wasn't.
Yes it was!
Well, if we aren't looking after her, who is?
[Little Lady has made a mess in the living room. She's pulling one of her toys from underneath a flower vase. The cubs run home and say...!]
No, Lady!
Stop!
[The flower vase falls on the ground and breaks. The cubs look at the mess Little Lady made.]
This isn't good!
[Mama and Papa return home]
Hello!
Hi!
[Mama and Papa also look at the mess Little Lady made.]
Oh, the sofa!
My chair!
[The scene cuts to outside where it's raining outside. Little Lady is sent to her doghouse as punishment for wrecking the living room.]
Maybe we should have asked for a goldfish instead. At least we wouldn't have gotten it into so much trouble.
It's not fair to Little Lady. We should be the ones out in the doghouse.
[Mama and Papa are in the kitchen. Papa is fixing the broken flower vase, and Mama is sewing up a ripped pillow.]
This vase is in more pieces than a jigsaw puzzle.
What could have gotten Little Lady into doing such a thing?
We know what got into her.
What do you mean?
We weren't exactly looking after her when she got into trouble.
You weren't looking after her?
She didn't get outside for any exercise all afternoon. Not even a walk.
That's why she wrecked the living room. She was just trying to have some fun.
[offscreen] Looking after a puppy is a round-the-clock job.
It isn't something you can just put off until later when it's more convenient.
We're sorry
I guess we aren't very good puppy owners.
[offscreen] Maybe you can make it up to her.
How about giving her a snack when you bring her back in.
We can bring her back in the house?
You mean it?
After hearing what really happened, I think she deserves another chance.
Come on, Sister! Let's go tell her the good news!
What's this? A lovely lady dining alone? May I join you for lunch, Mrs. Bear?
Be my guest. [Papa kisses her] The cubs aren't interested.
Oh? Where are they?
Eating in front of that television. It used to be a treat, but now they do it every day.
[offscreen] Give it to me!
[offscreen] No way! It's my turn to choose!
[The scene cuts to the cubs in the living room, and they're fighting about what TV shows they should watch.]
WE'RE NOT WATCHING "BEAR WRESTLING"!
THERE'S NO WAY I'M WATCHING "LITTLE TREEHOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE"!
[offscreen] OKAY, THAT'S IT!
[Brother and Sister jump from their fighting, drop the TV remote and the TV remote flies out of their hands.]
[screaming]
[catches the TV remote] NO MORE TV FOR A WEEK!
[Mama turns off the TV with the remote.]
What?
But, Mama!
No, sir! I mean it.
Papa, Mama told us we can't watch TV for a whole week!
Your Mama's got a point. You two cubs have been watching far too much television lately. Now, if you don't mind, I'm just going to catch some of the hockey playoffs. [Mama takes the TV remote from Papa.] Huh?
[to Papa] You too, Papa! [then to the rest of her family] For once, the whole family is going to be TV-free!
Oh...!
Oh...!
I think we should end the TV-ban on account of bad weather.
Rain or no rain. No TV for a week means no TV for a week.
What are we supposed to do for fun?
How about cracking open a good book?
Okay. [grabs a television guide]
That's the television guide.
But it's still reading. [looks at the television guide] Oh, guess what movie is on TV tonight!
What?
Honey, I shrunk the cubs!
That's a classic! [to Mama] Mama, you have to let us watch that!
I'm sorry, Brother and Sister, but the only way to break the "TV-watching-habit" is to keep the TV off.
Aw!
We'll go here, and here.
Don't forget this house. They always give out Crispy Squares.
Mm-mmm, love those Crispy Squares.
What are you cubs up to?
It's a trick-or-treat map.
We're figuring out which houses to visit tonight.
We're going to Farmer Ben's house and then Mrs. Grizzle's; she usually makes special Halloween cookies.
And then Teacher Jane's. She gives out good stuff.
And we'll go to Dr. Grizzly's house, even though she gives out healthy snacks.
Just to be polite.
[laughing]
And then Gramps and Gran. They always have lots of candy for us.
Hmm, it looks like you missed Widder Jones' house.
Oh, we did that on purpose.
You did? Why?
[to Mama; talking about Widder Jones] Because she's a witch!
Oh, nonsense! She's very sweet and kindhearted.
[confused] Mama, I'm talking about the Widder Jones who lives on Crooked Lane. That Widder Jones.
Yes, I know who you mean. We take a quilting class together. She's very friendly and helpful.
[whispering to Sister Bear] Until she turns you into a statue.
In fact, I saw her at the market today. She's preparing a very special treat for all the trick-or-treaters. And when you get home, I want to hear that you've paid Widder Jones a visit. Remember not to judge someone by their appearance.
So are we going there?
I guess so. You knock, and I'll wait by the road.
[offscreen] No way!
