[offering his revolver] Listen, I... I want you to have this. I've kept it all this time, and I thought...
No, but i-if you take it, you could--
[Wilf starts to look ashamed of himself]
You had that gun in the mansion. You could have shot the Master there and then.
If you were my dad. [smiles]
Oh, come on, don't start. But you said... you were told "he will knock four times and then you die". Well, that's him, isn't it? The Master. That noise in his head. The Master is gonna kill you.
[offering the gun again] Then kill him first.
And that's how the Master started. It's not like I'm an innocent. I've taken lives. I got worse, I got clever. Manipulated people into taking their own. Sometimes, I think a Time Lord lives too long...
[Wilf is trapped in a control booth. He knocks four times, unknowingly reminding the Doctor of the prophecy of his death]
They gone, then? Yeah, good-o. If you could, uh, let me out?
Only, this thing seems to be making a bit of a noise.
The Master... left the Nuclear Bolt running. It's gone into overload.
No... because all the excess radiation gets vented inside there. Vinvocci glass contains it. All five hundred thousand rads, about to flood that thing.
Oh. Well, you'd better let me out, then.
Except it's gone critical. Touch one control, and it floods. [holding up the sonic screwdriver] Even this would set it off.
[angrily walking around the room] Okay, right, then, I will. 'Cos you just had to go in there, didn't you?! You had to go and get stuck, oh yes! Because that's who you are, Wilfred. You were always this. Waiting for me, all this time.
Oh, really, just leave me. I'm an old man, Doctor, I've had my time.
[still angry] Well, exactly, look at you! Not remotely important! But me... I could do so much more! SO MUCH MORE! But this is what I get, my reward. AND IT'S NOT FAIR! [pushes papers off a table in an outburst, but then looks back at Wilfred, remorseful and resigned] Oh... lived too long... [walks towards the booth]
[realizing what he means to do] No. No, no, please, please don't. No, don't, don't! Please don't! Please!
Wilfred... it's my honour. [enters the booth] Better be quick: three, two, one...
[The Doctor locks his booth, letting Wilf out, and collapses in agony as his body absorbs the radiation]
[as he takes in the TARDIS interior] Is this madness? Am I going mad?
Madness? Well, you're an officer from World War One at the South Pole being pursued by an alien through frozen time. Madness was never this good.
Judging by the uniform, yes.
Yes, but what do you mean... "One"?
[realizing] Oh, sorry. Spoilers.
DThe Doctor
I died a few hours ago and I refused to regenerate. Catches up with you, you know. It's like a big lunch.
DThe Doctor
I know you did, but why? I don't remember this. Why are you refusing the regeneration?
Fear. I'm afraid. Very, very afraid. I don't normally admit that to anyone else.
DThe Doctor
Don't worry. Technically, you still haven't.
DThe Doctor
I adjusted the time frame, only by a couple of hours. Any other day, it wouldn't make any difference, but this is Christmas 1914... A human miracle is about to happen. The Christmas Armistice. It never happened again, any war, anywhere. But for one day, one Christmas, a very long time ago... everyone just put down their weapons... and started to sing. Everybody just stopped. Everyone... was just kind.
DThe Doctor
Both of them. Never hurts, a couple fewer dead people on the battlefield.
So, that's what it means to be a Doctor of War...
DThe Doctor
You were right, you know. The universe generally fails to be a fairy tale... but that's where we come in!
[prior to regeneration] Oh, there it is, silly old universe. The more I save it, the more it needs saving. It's a treadmill. Yes, yes, I know, they'll get it all wrong without me. Well, I suppose one more lifetime won't kill anyone. Well, except me. You wait a moment, Doctor! Let's get it right. I've got a few things to say to you. Basic stuff first: never be cruel, never be cowardly, and never, ever eat pears! Remember, hate is always foolish, and love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind. Oh, and you mustn't tell anyone your name. No one would understand it anyway… except… except children. Children can hear it, sometimes, if their hearts are in the right place, and the stars are too, children can hear your name. But nobody else. Nobody else, ever. Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Doctor... I let you go.
[Climbing up a crane to save Karl from Tzim-Sha]
What do we do when we get up there?
Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan.
Well, I will have by the time we get to the top.
TSTzim-Sha
A Stenza warrior wears his conquests. You may tell your children you were once privileged to encounter Tzim-Sha of the Stenza.
TSTzim-Sha
Tzim-Sha! Soon to be leader of the Stenza warrior race, conquerors of the Nine Systems.
When you say soon to be leader, what are you now, the office junior?
Eh? No, don't wind him up.
