Fern[loudly] Be Quiet! I bet that none of you can write a poem and finish it in time to submit it to the poetry contest.
[catches up with Buster outside Lakewood Elementary] Buster, can you come to my party?
Are you kidding?! Of course!
[give Binky and invitation at his locker] Binky Barnes.
Me?!
Yeah, and Francine. [gives an invitation to Francine as she passes]
Oh boy! We can play spin the bottle!
Arthur and Buster look embarrassed
[whispers] It's not too late to uninvite her.
No, I'll just do the recycling that morning so that there'll be no bottles in the house. [meets Muffy who is also holding invitations] Will you come to my party?
Sure! When is it?
Saturday afternoon! I can't wait!
[gasp]
This Saturday afternoon?! But that's when I'm having my party! [hands out invitations to Arthur’s friends] I would've handed out my invitations two days ago, but they came back late from the printer.
[hands out invitations to the girls] Can't you change your party to another day?
Are you kidding?! The rock band and Pickles the clown have been booked for months!
You got Pickles?! He did my cousin's wedding! He's a genius!
Ooooh, Pickles!
But I can't change my party either! All my relatives are coming from Ohio!
Ooooh, Ohio!
Well then, everybody will just have to choose which party to attend.
Everyone looks at their invitations.
What are you thinking about?
About whose party to go to. Why? What are you thinking about?
Where's Ohio?
Boys and girls sit at separate tables in the Powers’ ice-cream shop.
(chatter)
Francine and Arthur both walk to the counter.
Everybody's really starting to hate each other.
This is just terrible Arthur!
[angrily blows raspberry]
I wish you could come to my party.
I promised Muffy. How can I go to both? What's a party without boys?!
Wait a minute! I have an idea! [whispers in her ear]
That's a great idea, Arthur!!
[covers Francine's mouth] Shhh! But we have to keep it secret!
FernWhat are you writing your book report on, Arthur?
I've read a lot of good books lately. I'm trying to choose between the two best.
If you can't decide, I've read an exciting book about magnetic fields that I highly recommend.
[Arthur, Buster and Fern's mouths fall open]
FernNo thanks, it can't be as good as "The Case of the Creepy Shadow." [she pulls out that book.]
What about you, Buster? [he pulls out a set of magnets sticking to one another] It's intriguing reading and comes with six free magnets.
Um, sounds great, Brain, but I plan to do what I always do. Book reports are no sweat.
(She pulls Fern away. Fern gives Francine a reproving look. In Francine’s imagination she and Brain are standing in an old English courtroom wearing prisoner’s clothes. Arthur as prosecutor is questioning Fern. Mr. Ratburn is the judge.)
And before Muffy Crosswire hired you, you knew who wrote the note.
FernI deduced immediately it was Brain and Francine. Of course I had to tell Muffy. My reputation was at stake.
[bangs with the gavel] That's all the evidence I need to hear. Guilty as charged!
[takes her to the locks in a jail cell with Brain] But it was just a joke... just a joke...just a joke...a joke...
[paces outside the boys’ room, Brain comes out] Was Arthur in here?
[shakes his head] Well, nope.
[walks in, very relieved] Oh, uh... thanks, thanks, thanks so much!
After recess, the kids come inside
[talks to Fern] She shattered my plane!
FernBut she was just a little girl.
Saying that D.W. was just a little girl was like saying a tornado, just like a little wind.
Binky is hiding behind an ornamental plant
[stands beside him] Hey, Arthur! Over here!
Shh! [grabs Buster and pulls him behind the plant. Buster stands beside him]
I thought somebody had called my name.
Fern WaltersI'll get the cello. [Sings "Welcome to the Duloc" while playing the cello]
Fern, what do you think you're doing?! Stop, stop, stop!
Fern WaltersIt was a noisy enough?
You are so loud! It almost music terrible!
???
[stomachache in rumbling] Oh, I don't feel well.
I think it's to go-- [Carl starts moaning in sick and coughing, then gasps] What's wrong with Carl?! That was horrible!
Carl, I'm right here. Are you sick? Lay down on the couch, Carl. [to George] Stay here, George. I'll be right back, I'll go getting thermometer.
Oops. I will stay here.
[groaning in sick] But I... [Carl coughing]
But, what's gonna happened to Carl?! What we gonna do now?
Uhhh... [sneezing]
[to Carl; she coming to Carl with the digital temperature] Here, Carl. [she puts a digital temperature in the Carl's open and closed mouth.] I'll put the thermometer in the mouth. Just keep under the tongue for a few seconds until it beeps. I'll make feel better tomorrow. [fade to black, then title card with machine]
(v.o.) "Oh, No! It Carl's Unwell When George". [?]
Fern WaltersOh, George, did you this totally playground.
[he begans to singing a song "Home on the Range (song)" while playing and strumming the guitar as DW's cover the ears]
Wow, WD. That was beautiful song.
You did good job about to sing, WD.
Hey! WD, that's not even writing a song!
Fern WaltersHold on, DW.
Fern WaltersIt's time to go to... [sneezing]
[to Fern] Gesundheit.
Fern WaltersThat's totally sneeze.
