S1 E15Unfinished Business
We have some work to do.
Work? But I thought this was supposed to be a vacation.
Brother right. It's not fair!
Ah-ha. Now I see. The cubs are learning a lesson today.
[chuckles] That's right. It's Papa Bear's crash course in vacation cooperation, consideration, and participation.
What's the matter, Brother? Do you have ants in your pants?
No, I have sand in my swimsuit.
You just put it on. How can there be sand in it?
It's kind of a long story.
[arrives home after playing at Lenny's house] Hey, where's dinner?
We already ate.
There are leftovers in the fridge. You can help yourself.
You ate without me?
Mama's meatloaf was getting cold.
And we were hungry!
Why is everyone so grumpy?
You kept us waiting for half an hour.
I was playing Lenny's new video game I must have lost track of time. [sees a gift on the table] Hey, whose present is it?
Yours.
Gee, thanks. What did I do?
It's for your birthday.
My birthday? But that's a month away!
We thought you could use it right now.
Use what?
Open it.
[Brother opens his gift]
Wow! A Mighty Super Bear watch!
Hey, where are you going?
[angrily and tries to rush Brother] The bookstore! Remember?!
I remember. I was just playing at Lenny's.
I told you, "4 o'clock!"!
[also trying to rush Brother] Come on, Brother. We're already late as it is.
[The scene cuts to the book store. Brother and Sister have to miss out going to the bookstore because it's closed. Thanks to Brother who was late. Sister sees the "CLOSED" sign on the entrance door of the bookstore. And she says...!]
[sadly] I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S CLOSED!
[Sister --after saying this-- sadly sighs and huffs.]
I'm sure Ursula Major will visit the bookstore again.
[Sister glares at Brother.]
Hey, don't look at me. That train we had to wait for must've been 100 freight cars long.
And if you had come home at 4 o'clock, we would have been past that railway-crossing before the train came!
[True to what Sister says, she, Brother, and Mama missed their last train to go to the bookstore. And they were forced to take their car to it. In the meantime, Sister and Brother both look upset and face away from each other. Sister resumes huffing.]
[to Sister] Now, now, here's no sense getting into a big fuss over it.
Right, Sis. These things happen.
Now, I didn't say that, Brother.
What?
These things happen (sometimes), yes, but your coming home late didn't help matters.
[True to what Mama says, these things do happen sometimes. It was an accident and accidents happen. But according to Mama's saying, he's always coming home late. That's what matters.]
Maybe next time I should pay closer attention to my watch.
A watch doesn't take you where you have to be. It's up to you to decide if you want to be on time.
[True to Mama's saying, having a watch --to be on time-- might be one thing. A watch, it is one good thing. But it --a watch-- is not going to take you where you have to be. It is your decision if you want to be on time. Mama says to Brother, "It is up to you to decide whether you want to be on time!".]
[to Mama] Well, I want to be on time. I just get busy with things sometimes.
[Sister turns to Brother. And she says...!]
[to Brother] Well, next time you get busy with things, don't mess up my time too!
It takes all kinds to make up a family.
[sighs] I wish I lived on a farm.
Oh, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, even though there are many chores to do.
I wouldn't want to do anything that would make Farmer Ben upset. He might not let us come back and help him again.
Sister Bear [To Farmer Ben about the cows] It's all our fault, Farmer Ben!
We did it! We made your cows sick!
We forgot the latch the gate this morning!
So they got out!
Shep got them back in, but it was too late!
Something must've happened to them while they got out!
Something that made them sick!
And it's all our fault!
[Farmer Ben smiles]
Why are you smiling, Farmer Ben?
Because that solves the mystery.
Huh?
The stinky milk mystery.
The cows are fine.
[sighs] They're not sick?
No, come on. I'll show you.
[voice over and first lines; just like from the book adaptation of said episode The Berenstain Bears and the New Neighbors] "Uh oh, some neighbors moved away.
Now who’s coming here to stay? Who would’ve thought our good neighbors the Kodiak’s would ever move away?
We’re really going to miss everyone.
Our lawns will never look the same. With you mowing and me trimming, we made them look as lush as a golf course.
Maybe your new Neighbor will team up with you too, Papa.
