[The episode opens on a sunny day in a forest]

Travelling through the forest en route to Coumarine City, site of Ash's next Kalos Gym battle, our heroes have met a Pokémon Trainer named Blake.
[Ash, Serena and Bonnie are sitting at a picnic table with Blake, and Clemont is doing the cooking while the Pokémon have their Pokémon food]
Right, so your house is really close to this forest, huh?
BBlake
Yeah, I've been out on a journey for about a year doing some training, and when I smelled all of your delicious food, I figured it was coming from my house. It'll be good to get back home. [Feels his stomach growling and he and Ash laugh]
[Clemont gives Blake some vegetable soup]
I made a lot, so dig in. Have as much as you like.
BBlake
Man, that looks delicious.
By the way, I wanted to ask you about your Pokémon.
[The camera pans right to the Pokémon, but it cuts to a male Meowstic who is eating with Pikachu]
BBlake
[off camera] It's a Meowstic.
BSBlake's Meowstic
Meow, meow. [Turns to Pikachu] Meowstic.
I can't believe how pretty Meowstic's coat is.
It's beautiful. [Scans Meowstic with her Pokédex]
SSSerena's Pokédex
Meowstic, the Constraint Pokémon. When faced with trouble, Meowstic will raise its ears and create enough psychic power to demolish a ten-ton truck. [The screen shows a female Meowstic which is white] Its appearance varies, depending on gender.
Wow, so male and female Meowstic look different.

[about the soup] How do you like it?

Huh? [Eats his vegetable soup] It's really delicious.
Do you think I could have some more?
Sure thing, you can have as much as you want. Huh? [Sees that Bonnie has not eaten some of her vegetables in her soup] Bonnie, you need to eat those veggies, please.
But I don't like these veggies at all.
But veggies are exceptionally nutritious. You won't grow up to become a first rate trainer if you don't eat them now.
Yeah, but you know there are veggies you don't eat 'cause you don't like THEM.

[Greninja turns around and closes its eyes in a serious manner.]
[solemnly] I know. What happened before can never happen again.
[Greninja nods to Ash.]
Remember what Professor Sycamore said?
[A flashback of Greninja taking Pikachu's deflected Electro Ball to keep Pikachu healthy as a Froakie plays out, followed by the scene where Ash rushes to Sycamore's lab with it barely conscious in his arms.]
That maybe... it wasn't a coincidence that I met you way back when you were still a Froakie. I think that maybe, he was right. It wasn't a coincidence.
[Flashbacks of Froakie evolving into Frogadier and later defeating Anistar City Gym Leader Olympia play.]
That when you and I power up, it isn't an accident. Maybe your power was always meant for this moment.
[Flashbacks of Frogadier evolving into Greninja, battling Sawyer's Sceptile, and saving a Spewpa in the Winding Woods, followed by it and Ash shaking hands, play.]

[nodding its head in understanding, realizing the future of the world of Pokémon lies in its hands] Gren.
[It walks up to Ash and extends its arm out, then Ash and Greninja clasp hands and embrace.]
[emotionally] Oh, Greninja...

[emotionally] Greninja...
[Serena, Clemont and Bonnie watch on distraught as Greninja turns away from Ash and walks towards Squishy and Z2.]
[with tears in his eyes] That's right. This is how it has to be.
GGreninja
Greninja. [It extends its arm to Squishy.]
SSquishy
[telepathically] Thank you.
[to Ash] Ash, Greninja will be in my care.
Yeah! I'm counting on you, Squishy!
[concerned about the future of her and Squishy's friendship] Hey, Squishy...?
SSquishy
We probably won't see each other for a while, Bonnie...
[almost breaks down crying, but is suddenly cheerful through her tears] It's okay! I know that you've got a lot of important work to do! I'll always be cheering you on, you know?
SSquishy
I'll always be with you too, Bonnie.
I'll come and find you when I become a Trainer! We'll be together again, that's a promise!
SSquishy
Yes, that's a promise!
[Dedenne and the rest of Ash's Pokémon express their farewells to Squishy, Z2, and, most importantly, Greninja]

[Greninja holds Squishy in its hand and looks back as it leaves Ash and his friends]
NNarrator
Greninja and Ash may be parting ways, but this also means the beginning of new encounters! In search of their own new encounters, our heroes will no doubt experience many new and exciting adventures, as the journey continues!
[First lines. Ash and Pikachu are having a great time at sea]
All right! Whoa ho! This is awesome! [The camera pulls back to disclose that he and Pikachu are riding a Sharpedo] Yeah. Right, Pikachu!
NNarrator
This is Melemele Island, one of the several islands in the Alola region. [The camera pans left to people going windsurfing and having fun on the coastline of Melemele Island] Ash and Pikachu are in the middle of a vacation on the island... [The camera cuts to a bird's eye view of Melemele Island] and they're having an absolute ball.
All right! Full throttle, Sharpedo!
[Sharpedo takes Ash and Pikachu underwater, where the two admire the Pokémon that live underwater. Among the Pokémon they see are two Lumineons and some Finneons, a Corsola, a Milotic and a Pyukumuku. When Ash sees the Pyukumuku, he touches it with his finger)
PPyukumuku
Piku! [Spawns a white hand which sticks up two fingers. Ash does the same as Pikachu swims up to the surface. He leaves the scene on Sharpedo]
[Nearby, a girl with blue hair, whose name is Lana, is fishing aboard a Lapras that she and her Popplio are using. Then, Sharpedo emerges from the sea with Ash and Pikachu who are panting for air. They shake themselves clean just as Lana hooks up a Bruxish, surprising Ash and Pikachu. Ash nearly falls into the water first time, but he does so the second time]
[Ash pops his head out of the water]
[panting] Made it, buddy. [Laughs]
[Lana and her Popplio, having seen the action, laugh also]
[The title card comes up]
[voiceover] Sparking Confusion!
[The Ultra Guardians are flying across the sea to Akala Island]
NNarrator
The Ultra Guardians, their mission - investigate Wela Volcano and find the reason for this magnetic anomaly.
[Soon, some of the lava from Wela Volcano is bubbling and the Ultra Guardians have landed somewhere nearby for their ultra-important mission]
Checking from the sky isn't enough. We should investigate on foot.
Got it. [Steps up to Kiawe] So, how do we investigate a magnetic anomaly?
I borrowed a portable sensor.
[We see through Sophocles' portable sensor and see Ash and Kiawe in a black and white picture]
You can find an anomaly with that?
Right. And since we have two sensors, we should all probably split up into two groups.
Lillie's right. I'll search the area near the mines with Ash and Sophocles.
Got it. Then the three of us should check out the area we're in right now.
[The Ultra Guardians return their ride Pokémon to their Ultra balls]

Maro-Marowak! [Togedemaru and Pikachu follow it]
[Kiawe, Ash and Sophocles go off to the mines with their partner Pokémon]
Now, let's see. [Her sensor starts up with a greyscale screen. Bright green triangles and arrows appear as they turn red right to left]
[Then, the three girls are shocked to discover three hikers. In real life, they are wearing green vests and carrying big brown backpacks]

I get the feeling I've seen them before.
Well, well. I was hoping he'd surprise you two here. You see, Paul happened to stop by yesterday, out of the blue.
Professor Oak is a preeminent figure in Pokémon research. If someone wants to know about Pokémon, he's the best to ask. Nothing strange about that.

Let's all train. [Charizard, Gengar and the rest of Ash's Fire-mons comply, minus Infernape?]

Yeah, cause Paul was its trainer before I was. [Those of you who do not know about Infernape and how he played a part in Ash and Paul's vicious rivalry towards each other during Diamond and Pearl series, here's a brief recap]

Ash met Paul in the Sinnoh Region. Paul put his Chimchar through some extreme training, but when it didn't meet his expectations, he abandoned it. So, Ash welcomed Chimchar into his group. A deep friendship developed which led to Chimchar evolve all the way into Infernape.
Yeah and Infernape's gotten really strong.
Grookey-key-key. [Whoa, look at Electivire's tails!] [Electivire's twin tails are swinging back and forth gently]
[Grookey jumps off Goh's shoulders] Grookey, hang on!
[Both Pikachu and Grookey are cheering while looking at Electivire's tails. Grookey throws its stick into the air allowing Electivire to catch it with its twin tails]
Electivire. [Got it!] [Pikachu and Grookey applaud at Electivire's performance]
Electivire, go keep them busy.
Electivire. [Sure thing.]
[One day, at the Eevee Evolution Lab, some evolved forms of Eevee are chilling out as a Leafeon pops out a bush]
[A Flareon chases after it]
NNarrator
This is the Eevee Evolution Lab, where today, Eevee is having a health check up.
[Inside the lab, Chloe and her Eevee are with Pinery who is checking Eevee's health]

[Turns round to Chloe] Perfect health. Eevee's doing just fine.
So, how have you and Eevee been spending your time lately?
It's been great, we took a trip to see Sylveon. [A flashback occurs] And we even performed in a Pokémon Contest Spectacular. Eevee even used Fairy Wind.
PPinery
You really used Fairy Wind? [The camera cuts to Eevee scratching herself] I wish I'd seen you two in action.

After that, we met the Eevee of a friend who lives in Alola. She's Lana.
[A flashback occurs to when Chloe met Lana]
There's one more. The Eevee path.
Eevee can always just stay Eevee, like Ash's Pikachu.
Ash's Pikachu. You're right. So then there are nine paths available for Eevee. Of course. [The flashback ends] Lana taught me something back then, about all of Eevee's possibilities.

That's true. She's so right. You and Eevee will decide, if it's Eevee... [The evolutions of Eevee appear in a fantasy] ...or Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Sylveon. Those are all the evolutions you can choose from.

Tell me, is Eevee interested in them?
Completely. The thing is, it can't choose. I don't know what to do. Eevee loves every evolved form.
