[last words] You! You're just a piece of the Shinobi history I created and nothing more! A useless brat like you could never-!
Naruto
Shinobi history is made up of all sorts of Ninja's lives, and deaths too. Many of them taught me what it means to be a shinobi. The pain and sadness of death, the tragedy of war, and not only that, they taught me the joy of being accepted and being loved. The way they lived and the way they died, they made me who I am today. They taught me and they trusted in me. You're a brat who can't even fly from the nest! IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GET OVER YOURSELF! [permanently seals Black Zetsu]
You're right, great news! The first thing that I want to do is take a hot bath to wash off this sweat and grime. Aah! Wait a second! What about us?! How are we supposed to get out of this time-space?!
Just look at Kurama, all embarrassed and flustered. Although this too is exactly what I had once envisioned. That there would one day be a Shinobi who could move even the Tailed Beasts to cooperate.
We're in existence outside of the rules. So we can't just remain in this world forever. This is goodbye. I promise you that I'll tell Kushina everything.
Naruto
Tell her not to worry! I'm eating properly. Lots of different stuff, I'm not picky. Like I'll have tonkotsu ramen, miso ramen, and sometimes I'll even have shoyu ramen too. Oh but I don't only eat ramen though I swear. I bathe almost every day, even going to the Leaf Hot Springs once in a while, although everyone tells me my baths are only lightning quick dips. What else, what else... I've managed to make a whole lot of friends and they're all really good guys. And well I was pretty awful at school to tell you the truth, but I never got depressed about it. I had more confidence than anyone else. And of course I always obeyed Lord Third and Kakashi Sensei too. I mean I totally respect them both. They're right here, so you can just ask them yourself. Oh and those Three Prohibitions of Shinobi? I learned a whole lot about them when I was with Pervy Sage! He was hopeless when it came to them though, but he was an awesome Sannin and I respect him the most, I do. I just turned 17 today so I don't know much about alcohol or girls yet. I know that Mom said I should find someone just like her but I don't know. That's kind of uh... Anyway not everything that Mom told me about went well, but I always tried to do the very best that I could, you know! I've got dreams too! I'm gonna be an even greater Hokage than you, Dad! I swear I will! Tell Mom when you see her over there that she doesn't have to worry about me even a bit! Tell her I'm doing my best! [cries]
All right Naruto and Sasuke, about what I asked you two before. Having battled my mother Kaguya, is there any change to the answers you gave me?
Naruto
My answer's the same. And I'm sorry super gramps, but after fighting Kaguya, there's just one thing I feel strongly about. I'm just really happy that my mom was Kushina Uzumaki, you know.
He put the Tailed Beasts under a genjutsu, and with just a single glance too. Naruto, it's ended up as I feared. I've no choice but to trust you to handle this. I can't stay in this world any longer. I shall soon fade away.
Naruto
Yeah, and I'll apologize for this too, Six Paths super gramps, but it ain't gonna go like it did with your kids. Because I'm not Ashura. And Sasuke isn't Indra either.
I admit, at one time all that I wanted was to seek vengeance and destruction, but now things are different. I want to destroy but then I want to rebuild. A village without darkness. I'll reform the shinobi world. Do you understand? What I'm talking about is revolution.
It'll be the same now, just like the last time. You're going to lose here.
Naruto
But you aren't gonna be able to hit me with the same punch as last time. There's no way I'm gonna let you get away with whatever you want. And trust me Sasuke, you're not gonna be Hokage either. You don't even seem to understand what it means to be Hokage.
I actually do want to fight against you. And I want to win fair and square. Although not against the current you! But you already know that, don't you, Sasuke?!
This is just one of the many abilities of the Rinnegan. As somebody who possesses the eye of the Uchiha, my victory is inevitable. Now I can finally be alone. Farewell, my one and only friend!
Pitiful huh? You had the Tailed Beast, and I was an Uchiha. We were ostracized by the villagers and treated like outcasts. We both resented the village and everyone living in it. Right? You can't say that I'm wrong. You said I was like your brother, and in that sense, maybe we were brothers.
Naruto
No, you're completely wrong! Damn it! You don't get it, do you?! Sorry, Granny Tsunade. I know that I promised I wouldn't die until I became Hokage. OH NO! THE INFINITE TSUKUYOMI! This is bad! We can't release the jutsu if we're dead!
No way. Your dying isn't going to settle things. If you're willing to die, then live and help me instead! What I want to do is get all shinobi to cooperate, and that definitely includes you!
Look, don't make me repeat myself! Come on, are you seriously not getting it yet? Come to think of it, you were always pretty dense. [realizes Sasuke is crying]
To be perfectly honest, under normal circumstances someone like you would be imprisoned. That your past actions were pardoned and your wish has now been granted speaks to the enormity of your help in undoing the Infinite Tsukuyomi. But also my becoming the Sixth Hokage and that Naruto, the key figure in ending the war testified on your behalf, helped. Don't forget that. Try not to cause too much trouble from here on out, otherwise I'll be held responsible.
I need a little time to work out my feelings. I want to know how the Shinobi World looks to the current me. I feel like I'll be able to see things I've overlooked, things I can only perceive in my current state. Also something's been weighing on me.
I didn't think you'd be coming to see me off. [Naruto returns his old headband] You still had that thing? You stopped me as a friend even at the cost of your hand, and I was saved thanks to you. We were insignificant things that used to clash, and now we're able to share each other's pain. And after journeying long and seeing the world, I've realized something. This isn't really about you or me. I believe this concept can be applied to even bigger things than just us. But it's not something that can be done as easily as you were able to. I never assumed it would be simple, just like it wasn't with the two of us. Especially with something so big.
Yeah all right sure. I'll hang onto it til we have our real fight. It's kind of like a prayer. To keep enduring until it comes to be, no matter what. And to those upon whom those tasks fall on, perhaps that's what it means... to be a ninja.
