[In 1977; Juliet and Sawyer are on the Dharma Sub, they are joined by Kate and the sub leaves the island heading to the mainland]

So we're going to drink our OJ and take our chances in the real world. [Pause] And if Jack wants to blow up the island... good for Jack.
[After arriving back on the island via a life-raft, Sawyer, Juliet and Kate encounter Rose and Bernard who have not been seen since 'The Lie']

Did you not hear me shout "meet at the creek"?
There were flaming arrows raining down around us, killing everyone we knew - well sure, we heard you!
Sawyer
Well we spent all sorts of time looking for you. I had Jin out searching the island grid-by-grid.
Yeah sure, you lot joined up with Dharma.
Sawyer
Well damn, I could have brought both of you in! Why didn't you find a way to tell us you were out here?
Sawyer
Wait, Juliet, we've got to talk about this!
There's nothing to talk about, James. We have to let Jack do what he came here to do.
Sawyer
Well maybe you should have told me about your change of heart before I brought him out to the jungle to kick his ass!
Would that have stopped you?

Hey! Ju - [He makes to grab her]
[She pulls away] No, James, don't you -

[He backs off, shocked] ...I need you to tell me where all of this is coming from. One minute you're leading the Great Sub Escape and now you're on board with blowing up the damn island?!

Sawyer
Where the hell did you come from?
Sawyer
He ran off.

'Cause he's got answers. He knows why I'm on the Island. Unless you wanna tell me why I'm here, Richard!

You don't understand. He doesn't just want you dead, he wants everyone dead. Everyone you care about, all of them. And he won't stop--[Flees as he hears The Man in Black return]

Sawyer
It's about these two guys, George and Lenny. Lenny's kinda slow... causin' George problems... so George walks him into the woods and tells him to look out yonder and picture the pretty little house they're gonna live in some day. Then he shoots Lenny in the back of the head.
That doesn't sound like a very happy ending.
Sawyer
[Sawyer puts a gun to the back of MIB's head] It ain't.
Something on your mind, James?
Sawyer
I'm wondering what would happen if I was to put a bullet in your head?
Sawyer
[Sawyer hesitates and lowers the gun] What are you?
What I am is trapped. And I've been trapped for so long that I don't even remember what it feels like to be free. Maybe you can understand that. But before I was trapped, I was a man, James. Just like you.
Sawyer
I'm havin' a hard time believin' that...
You can believe whatever you want, that's the truth. I know what it's like to feel joy... to feel pain, anger, fear... to experience betrayal. I know what it's like to lose someone you love. So if you wanna shoot me, shoot me. But you're so close, James. It would be such a shame to turn back now.
Sawyer
And what does that mean?
It means you have three choices. You can do nothing and see how it all plays out. [Marks off John Locke's name on the wall] And maybe your name will get marked off. Or you can step up and replace Jacob and be the protector of the Island.
Sawyer
Protect it from what?
From nothing, James. That's the real joke; there is nothing to protect it from. It's just a damn island! And it will be perfectly fine without you or me or anyone else whose lives Jacob wasted.
Sawyer
You said there were three choices.
The third choice is we just go. We just get the hell off this Island. Never look back. So tell me, James. Are you ready to go home.
Sawyer
...Hell yes.
[The Man In Black leads his group through the jungle.]
About a quarter mile ahead there's a clearing. We'll make camp there. Everybody fill up on water. We might be there a couple of days.
Sawyer
A couple of days? I thought you said we were getting off this rock?
Sawyer
When?
[Some people within the group notice this dispute. The Man In Black notices them watching him and Sawyer have their arguement]
Maybe we should talk about this in private.
Sawyer
Great. Let's go.
[The Man In Black leads Sawyer into a jungle clearing away from the rest of the group]
I wish you hadn't interrupted me.
Sawyer
[Sarcasticly] Oh I'm sorry... I forgot my manners.
Sawyer
Yeah right....So what happened back at the temple? How'd you know to rescue everybody from that smoke thing?
I didn't rescue them. [Pause] I'm the smoke thing.
[Sawyer looks shocked and confused by the news]
Sawyer
You telling me you killed all of those people?
I gave them the opportunity to leave peacefully and they didn't take it.
Sawyer
Why not?
Because they're convinced that they're protecting the Island from me, when in fact all I want to do is leave. [Pause] So it's either kill or be killed. And I don't wanna be killed James.
[Having been captured Sawyer is lead onto Widmore's submarine and into a small room where Charles sits at a desk working on a document]
Hello, Mr. Ford. My name is Charles Widmore.
[Widmore offers his hand to Sawyer but Sawyer does not shake it]
I'm guessing you know who I am?
Sawyer
Of course I do. You're the fella that sent a freighter to the island loaded with guys to kill us all.
[There is a brief pause and a smirk appears on Widmore's face]
It's sad, really... how little you actually know.
Sawyer
Well...I know you murdered all them people out there and dropped 'em in a ditch.
We didn't murder those people. But I don't expect you to believe that.
Sawyer
Good, I don't.
So, why don't you tell me what brought you over to this island.
Sawyer
John Locke sent me.
Sawyer
I think we both know the guy I'm talking about's not really Locke. So here's the deal, Chief... I'll go back over there and tell him the coast is clear, that I didn't find anybody. Then I'll bring the old man right to your doorstep... then you can kill him.
[Once again Widmore's face reveals a hint of a smile]
And what do you want in exchange, James?

One: The people I come back with, people on my boat don't get touched. Not even a hair on their head. And two: You give us safe passage off the Island.
How do I know I can trust you?
Sawyer
Same way I know I can trust you. So do we have an agreement?
[Widmore nods his head and extends his arm once again for Sawyer to shake. They shake hands.]
[Sawyer returns to The Man In Black's camp and sits by Kate who is cooking something on a camp fire]
Sawyer
What's for dinner?
[Kate looks up at Sawyer]

Good 'coz I'm starving.
What are you doing running errands for Locke?
Sawyer
I ain't running errands for nobody.
He said he sent you over to the other island. Did you find the plane?
Sawyer
Yeah I found it and that ain't the only thing over there. Guy named Widmore set up camp over on the beach. He's got a whole team with him, guys with guns, they're here for Locke.
So what are you gonna do?
Sawyer
I'm gonna let them fight it out. And while they got their hands full with each other [He pauses and quickly checks no one is listening] You and me are getting the hell off this Island.
Even if we could get on that plane, who's gonna fly it?
SSaywer
We ain't taking the plane Freckles. We're taking the sub.
[The Man in Black and Sayid prepare to leave]
Sawyer
Where are you two going with the guns?
Hydra Island, we're taking the outrigger.
Sawyer
Well, why do you gotta take a boat? can't you just do your smoke thing and fly your ass over the water?
If I could do that, do you think I'd still be here?
Sawyer
[Sarcastic] No, 'cause that'd be ridiculous!
[The group are on the sailboat to Hydra Island]

You got a choice to make and you make it now. Either you're with you and you keep that damn crazy talk to yourself or you're going in the water.
James this is a mistake, and I know there's a part of you that feels that. The Island isn't done with us.
Sawyer
Yeah, well I'm done with this Island. So if you wanna take a leap of faith, take it. Get off my damn boat.
[Pause] I'm sorry I got Juliet killed. [Jack jumps off the boat]
Wait. [stops Sayid from pulling the wires out of the C4]
Sawyer
What the hell are you doing Doc?
Nothing is going to happen.
Sawyer
What?
Don't pull those wires out. We're going to be OK. Nothing is going to happen.
Sawyer
If I don't pull these wires, Locke is going to blow us to kingdom come.
No he's not! Locke can't kill us.
This is what he wanted. This has been what he has been waiting for. Everything that he has done has been to get us here. He wanted to get us all at the same place at the same time in a nice enclosed space where we had no hopes of getting out.
Locke said that he couldn't leave the Island without us. I think that he can't leave the Island unless we're all dead. He told me that he could kill any one of us whenever he wanted, so what if he hasn't because he's not allowed to? What if he's trying to get us to kill each other?
Sawyer
Stay out of my way Doc.
If he wanted that thing to blow up, why did he put a timer on it? Why not just throw it inside?
Sawyer
