Noah quotes from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

Why are you home early?

Benson

I thought we'd spend a little time together.

[angry] I want Lucy!

Benson

[hurt but controlled] Okay, so, Noah, we get in bad moods sometimes, and that's okay. And sometimes it's not about Lucy, or olives, or homework. It means that we're upset about something else. What's wrong, honey? You can tell me. [Noah says nothing] Noah...?

It's Jeremy. He keeps asking where my dad is. I told him he's in heaven.

Benson

[wary] That's right, Noah. He is.

Did he love me?

Benson

Oh, sweetheart... of course he did. Very, very, very much. And someday, when you're older, I promise I'm gonna tell you all about him. But for right now, it's just team you and me. And I feel so very lucky to be on that team.

[smiles] Me, too.

Are they still gonna drop the ball?

Benson

Yes, of course.

[about the guardrails] If no one's gonna be here, then why are they putting those up?

Benson

Oh, just to close it off. [pause] Hey, Noah, we're gonna watch it on TV, just like any other New Year's.

No, it's not. I just want this year to be over.

Benson

Everyone does.

Hudson's just an idiot. No one likes him anyway. He bullies everyone. It was just my turn to be his target.

Benson

Why?

I don't know. First, he went after Corey 'cause Corey told everyone their pronouns are they/them, and Hudson started calling Corey a fairy. So then I said that I was bi and that there's no shame in being true to yourself.

Benson

That's right, Noah. So you stood up for Corey... and stood up for yourself. And that is incredibly brave.

Well, it's my truth. I just hadn't told anybody before.

Benson

Well, thank you for telling me.

No big deal. It's not like I have a boyfriend or girlfriend. It's just not fair for anybody to be left out.
