[Kick and Brad are talking through mirrors from their bedroom windows while they're being grounded for fighting]
Brad
[annoyed] This is all your fault, dillweed! Mom busted us again because of you!
She's good, but she's not this good.
Brad
Well, she's catching us somehow.
Yes, somehow. I think we've got a tattler in our midst. (And I'm gonna find out who.)
[Later… the boys' punishment has ended and their mother releases them from their rooms]
Okay, boys. Punishment is over. Out of your rooms and outside now. [opens the front door, pushing Kick outside] And don't get into any more trouble. [sternly] I mean it, Kick.
CMs. Chicarelli
Hello, Mrs. Buttowski.
Wait a minute. That silhouette, so familiar. Ms. Chicarelli. It was you! You're the one snitching on me.
CMs. Chicarelli
That's right. It's my responsibility to keep the cul-de-sac safe from the likes of you, troublemaker.
CMs. Chicarelli
You were loud and out of control! Kids are the worst thing to ever happen to the suburbs… [savagely] MY SUBURBS! [Oskar snarls viciously] It used to be so quiet around here, until all of your brats moved in! [turns to Mr. Vickle, who is cutting some bushes] That goes for you too, Mr. Vickle! You stop cutting those bushes so loudly! [back to Kick, who he gives her the death glare in return] And the next time you disrupt even one blade of grass on this cul-de-sac, you'll be serving a lifetime of grounding.
[kindly] Don't worry, Ms. Chicarelli. Kick will be on his best behavior. [to Kick; sternly] Right, Kick?
[with his face all red with irritation and through gritted teeth] Yes, Mom.
[pacing back and forth outside of Ms. Chicarelli's house; to Brad] She's gotta be stopped! I'm getting busted all over the place.
Brad
Yeah, I guess we better stay as far away from her as possible. [naughtily swipes his brother's skateboard and throws it into Ms. Chicarelli's front yard]
Chicarelli's yard?! Nothing ever comes back from Chicarelli's yard!
[Mr. Vickle, Ms. Chicarelli and the Magnusons are all in the backyard of the Buttowski residence, sweating from the heat on a super hot day to celebrate Harold's birthday party as soon as he gets home]
VMr. Vickle
Poor Mrs. Buttowski. She picked the hottest day in Mellowbrook history to throw her husband's surprise birthday party. [cut to Kick chilling on a lounge chair, non-sweating] And Kick doesn't sweat one drop. How did you do it?
It pays to keep a cool head.
What does that even mean?
[groans] Don't worry, everyone. Ice cream's on the way. Cowboy Kelly ice cream bars. Harold has loved them since he was a little baby and ate one every day. He even shared one on our first date… uh, sort of.
VMr. Vickle
They don't make those anymore.
I know, but there was one box left in deep freeze.
VMr. Vickle
[relieved] Party saved.
[answers her phone as it rings] Hello? [gasps in horrified shock] The truck broke down! NO COWBOY KELLY BARS!
VMr. Vickle
[dismayed] Party unsaved.
I guess that's my cue. Time to save the party.
[unsure] I don't know, Kick. Remember last time you tried to "save" the party?
Not this time, Gunther. We're hoping to find that truck, get those Cowboy Kelly bars, and save Dad's birthday party.
Brad
In your dreams, dill weed. This time, the Brad saves Dad's birthday party.
[opens the box, revealing all the Cowboy Kelly ice cream bars completely melted] I can't believe it! They're all melted!
[takes out one from his helmet] All but one.
Ah. I... I can hardly believe it.
Oh, Kick, you saved your father's birthday party.
How did you keep it from melting?
It pays to keep a cool head.
Oh, now I know what that means.
Brad
[entering the backyard] Party people, prepare to be saved!
[Snowy day in the cul-de-sac… Honey and Brianna are leaving for Brianna's winter pageant, leaving Harold, Kick, and Brad alone for some quality bonding]
[as she and her daughter exit the house] Okay, boys, we're leaving for Brianna's winter pageant. You three should use this time for some male bonding.
[hugs Kick and Brad close to him] Don't worry, honey. I'll make sure we bond real good.
[gets in the car; sternly] And Harold, stay out of my cookie jar. [closes the car door and drives away]
[in unison] Yeah, Mom. Sure thing.
Brad
[in unison] Okay, Mom.
Yes, dear! Okay, boys. It's every man for himself.
[After Kick and Brianna accidentally broke the air conditioner while squabbling, Harold blames it on Brad and grounds him for the whole summer]
You! [angrily pointing at Brad] You did this! [walks over to him] You broke the only thing that makes summer in this house tolerable!
Brad
Huh? I don't even know what you're talking about!
Do you know how much the repairman costs?! We're talking hundreds of dollars! At least tens.
Brad
[protesting] It wasn't me! I swear! I SWEAR!
All right, Bri, time for us to come clean and confess that it was us.
[outraged] BRADLEY, YOU'RE GROUNDED FOR THE WHOLE SUMMER!
Brad
NOOOO!!!
On second thought, I have a whole summer of stunts planned. None of them in my room!
BBrianna
And I'm leaving for Teena Sometimes' Camp Sometimes. Sometimes a camp, sometimes a salon! I WILL NOT MISS IT!
