Callie
I wished Izzie Stevens would die. I wished her dead every day, of every week, for I don't even know how long. I woke up every morning, wishing Izzie Stevens would die, and now... What kind of person wishes someone would die? What kind of... what kind of doctor wishes, knowing how things happen. What kind of doctor wishes...
Are you in here, right now, praying for Izzie to die?
Callie
No. I'm praying for her to live.

What do you mean he wrote in your hand?
He just grabbed my hand, and he squeezed it and he wrote with his finger.
He wrote with his finger?
You know in my hand, he wrote 007.
[grabs Meredith's hand and proceeds to write on it using her finger] Okay, what did I write?
You mean this might not be O'Malley?
Did anybody try to phone O'Malleyf? Can we get him on the phone?
[Everybody retrieves their cell phones and start calling]
I'm telling you he squeezed my hand.
[hushes Meredith] Shut it! You don't get to talk anymore! You don't get to talk ever again!
I could have sworn it was George.
[voiceover] Grief may be a thing we all have in common, but it looks different on everyone.
It isn't just death we have to grieve. It's life. It's loss. It's change.
And when we wonder why it has to suck so much sometimes, has to hurt so bad. The thing we gotta try to remember is that it can turn on a dime.
That's how you stay alive. When it hurts so much you can't breathe, that's how you survive.
By remembering that one day, somehow, impossibly, you won't feel this way. It won't hurt this much.
Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way.
So the best we can do, the best anyone can do, is try for honesty.
The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can't control it.
The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes.
Callie
And let it go when we can.
The very worst part is that the minute you think you're past it, it starts all over again.
And always, every time, it takes your breath away.
There are five stages of grief. They look different on all of us, but there are always five.
I hate hate hate this merger. Because I hate long-distance relationships. I don't believe in them. So, you can't move to Portland.
Callie
When I mentioned it this afternoon you didn't seem to mind. You were like 'Move to Portland'.
I didn't know I was allowed to mind. I didn't know if we were girlfriends. But then you said girlfriend, you called me your girlfriend. So, I need to know. Am I your girlfriend?
Callie
Yeah.
OK. Great. So, yeah, no, you're not moving to Portland. No, what you are going to do is, you're going to the chief's office and beg for-
Callie
I'm not gonna grovel!
Yes, you are! Seriously, you don't wanna mess with me.
Callie
Daddy.
Callie
What, what are you doing here?
TMr. Torres
I came to see you.
Callie
Why?
TMr. Torres
Calliope, we used to talk. Every Sunday we used to talk. I'd wait for your call and you'd tell me everything. All about your crazy adventures. Even when you were in trouble you'd still call and we worked it out. We'd always work it out, Mija.
Callie
Daddy. [hugs] I'm sorry... I'm sorry things got so...
Callie
[sighs] But the fact that you came... Daddy is that Father Kevin?
FKFather Kevin
Hello Calliope.
Callie
Wha...Are you tw-two here to... You think you can pray away the gay.
TMr. Torres
If we could just sit and talk...
Callie
You can't pray away the gay.
TMr. Torres
Calliope Iphigenia Torres.
Callie
You can't pray away the gay!
TMr. Torres
Leviticus: Thou shall not lie with a man as one lies with a female, it is an abomination.
Callie
Oh, don't do that daddy! Do'’t quote the bible at me!
TMr. Torres
The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and the sin is exceedingly grave.
FKFather Kevin
Carlos, this is not what we...
Callie
Jesus: A new commandment that I give unto you, that you love one another.
TMr. Torres
Romans: but we know that laws-
Callie
Jesus: He, who is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone...
TMr. Torres
So you admit it's a sin?
Callie
Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy! Jesus: blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God! Jesus: blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven! Jesus is my savior daddy, not you! And Jesus would be ashamed of you for judging me! He would be ashamed of you for turning your back on me! He would be ashamed.
Oh, Adele. Oh I'm so sorry, I sent the Chief into surgery. Do you want me to-
What I want is for you to tell me the truth. Are you having an affair with my husband?
I am not having an affair with your husband!
I saw the way you handled him just now.
Handled! I did not... handle... there was no handling... we work together.
You spend every waking moment together, you finish each other's sentences, you read each other's minds. You're more married to that man than I am.
Callie
Yeah, but that's just because they're husband and work-wife.
Callie
The Chief's your work-husband and you're his work-wife. You look out for each other, you take care of each other, there's nothing wrong with it, it's like me and Sloan.
Callie
Nobody's talking to you. He's my work-husband but he has a girlfriend, I have a girlfriend, but nothing going on between us.
I mean, there was at one point...
Callie
You're not helping.
Neither one of you are helping. Adele, I promise you there's nothing going on.
Something is going on because he hasn't been in his bed all week.
The last time he acted like this, disappearing, sleeping at the hospital every night, he was with Ellis Grey. He may not be having an affair with you-
He's not, I promise you. I promise you, he's not.
Okay. But wife-wife to work-wife, someone in this hospital is sleeping with our husband.
Callie
I get it. You watch parents go through horrible, unimaginable pain every day. And you went through horrible, unimaginable pain when you lost your brother and your parents never got over it. But if we had a baby- our baby's not gonna be one of those kids in your NICU. Our baby won't be your brother. I mean, knock on wood, but- Do you know how happy our baby would be?
I'm going to say this once, and then I'm not going to say it again. I'm not broken. I'm not some psychodrama. My lack of interest in having a child is not some pathology that you can pat yourself on the back for having diagnosed. I like my life, I like it the way that it is. I don't want it to change. I thought I liked it with you in it. I hope I am not wrong.
Mark stares at my boobs when we talk. He starts at my face, but then somewhere along the way, he gets distracted and ends up on my boobs. And I love guys - I love them. But I have tried my whole life to avoid the boob-staring guy. Biology even helped me by making me gay. But now, my girlfriend's best friend is that guy. And I don't think that I need to apologize for the fact that the only person I want staring at my boobs is you.
Callie
Boobs... really, you're making this about boobs?
Callie
'Cos they're good boobs!
Callie Okay. Fine. I don't want to go to Africa. But I do wanna be with you. Okay? So, I'm really trying here. We're going miss our plane, let's go. Oh my god! Okay, you wanna fight? The flight is eighteen hours, we can fight on the plane.
Arizona You are ruining this for me. And I don't wanna do this.
Callie
What? What does that mean? What, you suddenly don't wanna go or?
I don't wanna go to Africa with you.
Callie
Arizona. No, okay? No.
Callie
You're sorry, you're sorry? It's three years.
I'm gonna miss my plane. You take care of yourself.
Callie
No. No! Please. Please I can - we can do this, we can figure this out.
You stay here and be happy. And I'll go there and be happy.
Callie
If you get on that plane, if you go without me, we are done. Do you hear me? We are over.
We are standing in the middle of an airport, screaming at each other. We're already over.
I am so deeply, deeply, deeply sorry for hurting you so much. I am so sorry because I'm so in love with you, and I will spend the rest of my life telling you that. I'll apologize to you every day if that's what you need, but, please, please don't walk away again. I came across the world to be with you. I love you. Please.
Callie
You had to fly across the world to get to me Arizona because you flew a whole world away without ever looking back. You just left. And this might be news to you — no, I think it kinda is — but you're not the only one in this relationship. There are two of us, and you came back today but I didn't.
Well, now I'm your subletter. Hooray?
Callie
My lack of interest in seeing you is not a strategy. I'm not playing hard to get. I don't want to see you because I turned my life upside down for you and you walked away because for a week I was cranky. You're untrustworthy, so I don't want to see you. You're self-centered, so I don't want to see you. I am a hundred percent certain that if I let you back in my life again you will hurt me again, so I don't want to see you. This isn't a ploy. I'm not pouting. I don't want you in my life. Get your crap out of my apartment.
