So this is the new you! I take it the scarf is your idea of a joke.
D'you like it? I was thinking more "homage".
You'll forgive me if I'm not flattered.
Killjoy.

Time's up, Time Lord! Any last words?
[...]
Oh, yes! I've got last words -- several billion last words, in fact! It's high time, Nobody No-One, that you heard exactly what kind of a man I am...
(30 June 2011)
I'll tell you what's typical! Setting off to go somewhere, and arriving in another century.
Perhaps there is a reason for us arriving here at this time.
YES! You can't steer.
...Anyway... It seems the TARDIS has malfunctioned...
[Raine, who is new to the TARDIS] ...So it malfunctions?
...Now and then...
[TARDIS randomly dematerializes, Raine is stunned]
Oh look... There is goes now. Haha, well, I'm sure it will be back soon.
Leave me alone!
I can't! I won't.
I saved the lives of millions of people! Isn't one person--?
What?! You think that's a good deal? If you let go my wrist, I'll kill you now, you know that?! I'll kill you!
Were we ever mates?
Yes!
We can't have been! You're not human, right, Professor? I'm never gonna play your games again! Never get manipulated again! This... Is. The end!
What do you think of me, Professor?
You're like most men, aren't you? You think the ends justify the means, which isn't a very pretty attitude. D'you know, I half expected my old dad to appear as a zombie. He'd turn out to be part of one of your plans and you'd expect me, of course, to go along with it rather than have a sort of breakdown or just stop in my tracks. Which I suppose I would. Anybody would. Except you.
I just do the best I can. I fight monsters. I win.
Well, I'll be off, then. It was so nice to meet you.
This isn't supposed to happen.
Has it occurred to you that you might actually be wrong?
Doctor! Pity me!
Fear me.
Wha-- What?!
Tell this to your gods -- when they punish you, when they stretch you on the Neutron Rack... I'm still here.
But you...?! You're one... little... man!
No, not a man! Not a human being. I am a complex space-time event. I am Lord President of Gallifrey. The Traveller from Beyond Time. I am the Sandman! The Oncoming Storm! I am the Ka Faraq Gatri; Destroyer of Worlds! And sometimes... only sometimes, I. Am. Your. Worst. Nightmare. ...I am the Doctor, and I take care of my friends.

Change? I feel it. Yes, I will regenerate.
Yes, I will regenerate.
Our future is in safe hands.
I've lived this life full of confusion, contradiction… science upended, paradox after paradox! I'm still not sure how it fits together.
It doesn't. It never does. The ambitious young child, the firebrand student full of his own self-importance, the selfish adult desperate to protect their little corner of the world… the regretful old man, the regretful old fool waiting for death. How can all these lives, all these personalities, be reconciled into one being?
We're all an error of continuity.
The Dark Citizens were all about potential. They could see the path we all take through life. The Web of Time. All those different decisions, all those roads not taken… I think that they knew something most of us don't like to admit.
Which is?
That most of us will always end up the same, whatever we do! There'll be gradations, of course; nurture affects nature every day. But someone who was -- for example -- a really manipulative and controlling person… well, they'll always become something dark.
Mmm… Maybe you're right.
So it's all about stopping them before they go too far.
Perhaps…
(May 2025)
Do you have any idea about the consequences of your actions? Do you want to know about the war you started?
What war?
The Great Time War between Skaro and Gallifrey.
A conflict between the two does seem inevitable.
Oh, yes. Because you've already fought the opening skirmishes. You just don't realise it yet. Tell me -- what did you think would happen when you unleashed the Hand of Omega on Skaro's sun and incinerated their homeworld, hm?
I didn't pull the trigger...
Oh, no. You manipulated Davros into it. It was masterful. But do you really think that means your hands are clean, given you'd already been on a covert mission to avert the Daleks' very creation? Did you think he'd hesitate? That afterwards, they wouldn't retaliate?
Retaliation? It's a possibility.
It's a certainty. I survived it. I watched the universe burn, and all the dark deeds I've ever done pale into insignificance against its death toll.
Is that true?
Lord Voltaire's world was obliterated. The oceans vaporised. I once told him there were survivors, but I lied. He was the last of his kind and millions of other worlds suffered the same fate.
Something had to be done! I had to take a stand. The threat was only growing...
You lit the blue touchpaper on Armageddon and walked away. You see, we have so much in common. You'd burn worlds to get what you want, and so would I.
