WDWordGirl doll voice
“Go buy me an official WordGirl toothbrush protector.”
Honey, remind me to go to the store tomorrow and pick up a WordGirl toothbrush protector.
Sally
Good idea, hon! Let’s get two.
Why not thirty-two? One for each tooth? [He and the parents raise their hands in victory]
Uh, aren’t there better things to spend our money on than silly toys and accessories?
WDWordGirl doll voice
“Buy me the WordGirl remote control pickle jar!”
First thing in the morning!
Sally
Oooh, pick one up for me while you’re at it.
Oh, pickle one up for me too! [laughs]
[shouting] Everybody stop! [in a normal voice] Mom, Dad, you’re not acting like yourselves. You’re constantly spending money on frivolous, silly things just because the doll tells you to!
Yes, constantly. You’re doing it again and again. As in, constantly buying Walk-and-Talk WordGirl accessories.
But honey, this is WordGirl, and WordGirl never lies. If she says we need something, we need it!
Do you need it, or just want it, Dad? I mean, shouldn’t we be spending our money on more important things like, I don’t know, food?
Sally
Oh, don’t get indignant, honey. What’s so great about “food” anyway? We’re buying the WordGirl tree shaker instead!
The tree shaker? What does that even do?
Shakes trees! Trees sold separately.
WDWordGirl doll voice
“Buy the WordGirl glow-in-the-dark suntan lotion!”
[This time the eyes of the dolls glow green, and the eyes of TJ and Mr. and Mrs. Botsford turn green as well. They start to speak in a monotone.]
TSTim, Sally and TJ
Glow-in-the-dark suntan lotion.
Okay, something’s going on here. It’s like the dolls have you under some sort of--
TSTim, Sally and TJ
Suntan lotion.
Mind control! Come on, Bob. Time to pay another visit to Mr. Big!
Answer all my questions and win stuff! I’m your host, Seymour Orlando Smooth. Hi everyone, and welcome to the game show where the contestant is-- YOU! If you received an answer sheet in the mail last week, pull it out right now!
Sally
[picking up a paper next to her] Okay...
Alrighty then, here… we go! Please neatly print the answer to each question in the appropriately numbered box. Question one… what is a word beginning with the letter “P” that means agree to allow? For example, a parent signs her child’s “mmm-mmm-mmm” slip to go on a field trip.
Sally
WordGirl, this report was written by the police commissioner. It says the doll thief was a little girl. Tell me, are you a little girl?
Uh, [clearing throat] yes I am.
[The observers gasp.]
Sally
Oh. Well, little girl, this report also says that the doll thief had super strength-- do you have super strength?
[More gasps, and the judge visibly reacts to her statement.]
Sally
Interesting, and didn't the police find THIS doll in your pocket?
[panicking] I was only holding it as evidence! I was helping to solve the crime!
Sally
But isn’t it true that you LOVE the Pretty Princess Magic Pony Power Hour?
[She holds the figurine in WordGirl’s face. After a long dramatic pause, WordGirl answers.]
Yes, I DO love it! I love it more than ANYTHING!
That was amazing, Bampy! You defeated a robot with just a screwdriver!
BBampy
Well, ha! That wasn't invincible after all, was it? Kind of exciting.
What did you miss? Bampy defeated a giant robot, Becky! and all this time, you thought his story was fictional, huh? Now, do you believe me?
BBampy
TJ, here's your present back? [Bampy hands TJ his screwdriver back]
Awesome! A robot-defeating screwdriver!
[Huggy drags Tobey and lets go of him as Mrs. McCallister pops up]
Well, let's just get over with. [his mom grabs his ear] Ow, ow, ow, ow! Ooh, next time, WordGirl and sprightly old man-- Oh, ow! Don't! Ow!
Sally
We're glad you're okay, Bampy. Fighting giant robots can be dangerous.
[pops up from the window outside] Hello, common folk.
Mom, may I remind you that he hast tried to wreck the city and our house several times.
Sally
Listen, his mom said he wouldn't be any trouble. Well, he hasn't been near a giant robot in months. She said he spent all his time designing a new board game.
[comes in Becky's house] It's a game of skill and savvy. It's called By Jove, You've Wrecked My Robot.
[sighs] That sounds like-
A game I should be showing to WordGirl. Honey, you should mention that.
Sally
They're so cute.
[sits down] I don't know.
Sally
Relax, honey. You kids have fun. [walks away]
Sally
Hey, kids. how's the game going? Oh, looks like fun.
[Tobey presses a button on the game]
Sally
What?
Quick! Look out the window!
Sally
[looks at window] Oh! You had me going there for a second Becky.
Sally
I think you're taking that game a little too seriously hun. [walks away]
[looks at his game that Becky destroyed] Oh, you're going to pay for that! And since you're not apparently not WordGirl I should have no problem defeating you with my kung fu. [does a kung fu move to defeat Becky until Sally appears]
Sally
And just what you think you're doing mister.
Sally
That's right, honey. I realize now you're telling the truth about the robots. You're in big troubler, mister.
Oh, really. Well now just what are you going to do Mrs. Botsford. Hmm. You do realize that you are not my- [as thunder claps, the door opens revealing that his mom is standing behind him] Mother. [he tries to walk away but his mom grabs his ear] Ow, ow, ow, ow! You'll pay for this Becky! [he and his mom leave Becky's house as Becky waves good bye to him] I'm buckling up, I'm buckling up, I'm buckling up.
Sally
Sorry, I didn't believe it before Becky.
Don't worry about it, mom. Tobey is pretty savvy.
Sally
Oh hey, Bob. I see you've been out playing with TJ's WordGirl doll. But boy, did you miss some excitement around here? [walks away]
[Miss Power is ready to take Becky's mom to prison]
Time to go to prison, District Attorney Botsford.
Sally
[gasps] Prison? But, I'm in charged.
Disagreeing with me, now let's go.
Sally
You're not just harsh lady, you're out of control!
Wrong! You need to be taught a lesson about who's really in charge. ME! [furiously takes away Becky's mom]
Hun! Hun! Time to spring into action! TJ!
Go around the house and collect these things.
Yes, sir! [takes his dad's paper with him] And now if you'll excuse me, now it's time to put on my danger pants. [dances]
Come on, Bob! I think it's time we taught Miss Power a lesson. [Bob squeaks] Yeah, I know she's more powerful than me- [Bob puts his hand on her] Hey look, if you're trying to encourage me, you're not doing a great job. [Bob walks away with her] Wait? Where are we going? Bob!
Sally
[in jail] Okay everybody. Here's the thing. We are in a prison and there is no way that I'm spending the rest of my life here because some power hungry eating alien decides she wants to take over the Earth!
CChuck
Yeah? But what could we do?
This lady's even more powerful than WordGirl!
[all villains are talking at once]
Sally
Oh, I think I know a man with a plan [laughs] and a boy with a ploy. [laughs]
GMGranny May
Oh! Is that one of those newfangled gadgets kids are always playing?
Sally
Uh, a ploy is a trick or a clever way of doing something!
GMGranny May
Oh! You mean, like when I pretend to be a harmless old lady just so I can fool some sucker I want to rob? [laughs]
Sally
Exactly. That's a ploy you use.
GMGranny May
Mmm-hm, we could use one of those right now.
Sally
Oh, yeah, but remember, I've got a couple of guys in my back pocket. But we don't have pockets because we're in jail! They don't let you have pockets because it might hold a weapon.
[WordGirl finally gets ready to defeat Miss Power]
Like my new ploy? Huggy taught it to me. Here's how it goes, I don't accept your bullying behavior and you lose all of your power!
You're not going to win because I always win and I'm never wrong!
So you're saying I'm going to be triumphant?
Yeah. Yes, that's right you're going to be triumphant. Ha!
I think so too. You know why? Because being triumphant actually means winning!
BThe Butcher
[offscreen] Oh yeah it does! WordGirl taught me that just last week!
And that's the second ploy that Huggy taught me I got you to admit defeat using the power of words!
Sally
And she wasn't even harsh about it!
[the villians cheer]
No! [flies off after WordGirl defeated her] I'm not losing, I don't lose. If I quit, I won't lose, so there, can't beat me, won't beat me, never!
3! I earned 3 badges, Scout Leader Botsford. The go fly a kite badge, the sticky s'mores badge, and the card house replica badge. Oh, I'm winning!
Sally
This kite is made out of metal so it can't fly.
Sally
And I can't give you a sticky s'mores badge. They're made out of mud and glue.
That's a McCallister secret recipe.
Sally
Only one badge for now. [she pins a red badge on his sash and walks away]
If I fall behind now, I'll never be able to catch up. I have to win this award!
Sally
Don't worry. If you work hard, you'll be able to catch up eventually.
[shouts] Eventually? Eventually?!
Oh, I can define that. The word eventually means after a while, or in the end. Like right now, you've earned the least amount of scout badges, but with some hard work, eventually you'll earn as much as the rest of us. Well, except me that is.
I know what eventually means. I was remarking on how absurd this whole contest is. I just need... Oh, I need... I need more room. Scout Leader Botsford, can I move my workstation somewhere where I can... Concentrate?
Sally
Tobey, you can go work where you'd like. Go where your scout senses lead you.
Scout Leader Botsford, there has to have been an error. My robots worked... I mean, I worked tirelessly. And Violet, she was playing in a field somewhere.
Sally
Getting her stop and smell the roses badge.
And then I saw her tickling a chipmunk.
Sally
And that's the coveted tickling a chipmunk badge. Very difficult.
Oh, WordGirl was going to see me.
Sally
Oh, I'm sorry, Tobey. There will be another chance to win the key to the city eventually.
[angrily] Eventually? Eventually?! [he pulls out his controller] Robots attack!
Sally
[gasps] Oh, my!
[presses his controller] Robots attack! Robots attack! [nothing happens and he looks around confused] Well, congratulations, Violet. Much deserved. Got to be going. Ta ta. [he walks off as Mrs. McCallister pops up from a tree and grabs Tobey by the ear]
