I was dying. To save my own life, I changed my body — every single cell, but… still me.
(whispering) But… you can’t be.
Then how could I remember this? Very first word I ever said to you, trapped in that cellar, surrounded by shop window dummies, ooh… such a long time ago. I took your hand and I said one word, just one word, I said… “Run!”
SJSally Jacobs
The transmission didn't come from the surface of Mars. Guinevere One was broadcasting from a point five thousand miles above the planet.
MBMajor Blake
In other words, they've got a ship and the probe is on board.
DLDaniel Llewellyn
But-but if they're not from the surface, then...they might not be from Mars itself. Maybe they're not actual Martians.
MBMajor Blake
[matter-of-factly; to Daniel] Of course not. Martians look completely different. We think the ship was in flight when they just came across the probe.
SJSally Jacobs
And they're moving. The ship's still in flight now. We've [turns around and begins typing] got it on the Hubble Array.
Moving in which direction?
SJSally Jacobs
Towards us. [a graphic appears, showing Earth, Mars, and the Sycorax ship]
SJSally Jacobs
Very fast.
MBMajor Blake
I'm getting demands from Washington, ma'am. The President is insisting that he takes control of the situation.
You can tell the President, and please use these exact words: "he's not my boss, and he's certainly not turning this into a war". [leaves, goes to Alex] What have you got?
[frustrated] Nothing yet. Translating an alien language is going to take time.
MBMajor Blake
How far off is the ship?
[Harriet Jones has just ordered the Torchwood institute to destroy the Sycorax spaceship, despite the fact that they have agreed to leave Earth, never to return]
What is that?! What's happening?!
[outraged, glaring at Harriet] That was murder.
That was defence. It's adapted from alien technology. A ship that fell to Earth ten years ago.
You said yourself, Doctor, they'd go back to the stars and tell others about the Earth. I'm sorry, Doctor, but you're not here all the time; you come and go. It happened today. Mister Llewellyn and the Major, they were murdered. They died right in front of me while you were sleeping. In which case, we have to defend ourselves.
[disgusted] "Britain's Golden Age".
I gave them the wrong warning. I should have told them to run, as fast as they can, run and hide, because the monsters are coming: the human race!
Those are the people I represent. I did it on their behalf.
Then I should have stopped you.
What does that make you, Doctor? Another alien threat?
[stepping towards her] Don't challenge me, Harriet Jones! 'Cause I'm a completely new man! I could bring down your government with a single word!
[glaring back at him] You're the most remarkable man I've ever met. But I don't think you're quite capable of that.
No, you're right, not a single word. Just six.
Six. [walks over to Alex and whispers to him] Don't you think she looks tired? [glares at Harriet one more time before leaving with Rose, Jackie and Mickey]
[rushing over to Alex] What did he say?
[nervously] Oh, well, nothing, really--
[frantically] What did he say?!
Uh, nothing, I don't know--
[Rose and Jackie glance back at her as she calls after them, but do not answer and continue following the Doctor away]
[hysterical] Doctor! Doctor, what did you--?! What was that?! What did he say?! What did you say, Doctor?! Doctor! [quietly, starting to look remorseful] I'm sorry.
JTJackie Tyler
Well, I reckon you're mad, the pair of you. It's like you go looking for trouble.
Trouble's just the bits-in-between! It's all waiting out there, Jackie. And it's brand new to me-- all those planets and creatures and horizons! I haven't seen them yet, not with these eyes. And it is gonna be... fantastic!
CICassandra-in-Doctor
Ooh, my. Well this is... different.
CICassandra-in-Doctor
Goodness me, I'm a man! Yum! So many parts... and hardly used. [clutches the Doctor's chest] Oh, two hearts! [dancing to the dual heartbeat] Oh, baby, I'm beating out a samba!
CICassandra-in-Doctor
Oh, he's slim. [turn to Rose] And a little bit foxy! [raises eyebrows] You thought so, too. I've been inside your head, you've been looking. You like it.
I got the impression there was something you wanted to tell me.
FBThe Face of Boe
A great secret...
FBThe Face of Boe
It can wait.
[disappointed] Oh, does it have to?!
FBThe Face of Boe
We shall meet again, Doctor. For the third time, for the last time, and the truth shall be told. Until that day...
[The Face of Boe teleports away]
That is enigmatic. That is-- That is textbook enigmatic.
FAFather Angelo
We will take the house.
SSteward
Would you like my wife while you're at it?
FAFather Angelo
If you won't stand aside then we'll take it by force.
SSteward
By what power? The hand of God?
FAFather Angelo
No. The fist of man. [He whips the steward into submission with his cane. At the wave of his hand, his fellow monks take off their robes, and, demonstrating incredible martial skills, they make short work of the rest of the men.]
Since my husband's death, I find myself with more of a taste for supernatural fiction.
Very much. Oh, completely. And that's the charm of a ghost story, isn't it? Not the scares and chills, that's just for children, but the hope of some contact with the great beyond. We all want some message from that place. It's the Creator's greatest mystery that we're allowed no such consolation. The dead stay silent, and we must wait.
