You see, my Sylveon and I go out into the fields and forests everyday and the two of us make friends with wild Pokemon and we bring them back here with us.

Of course Ash is sure that he'll win. [Numerous people around the plaza turn to Ash's attention about his enthusiasm. They sure look happy that someone is going to challenge the Gym Leader.]
[As the episode starts, we see Ash and his friends look at a poster promoting an exhibition match between two trainers. One of the trainers looks familiar to the Kalos residences...]
It is! Diantha is doing an exhibition battle!
Awesome! Alright! So... who's Diantha anyway?

[Team Rocket, dressed as chefs, are pushing trolleys of food when they see Ash and his friends with Professor Sycamore and his assistant, Sophie]
As we thought, the twerps did make the scene.
We hit that on the head. With the professor as host, their appearance was a must.
Let's take it slow. And at the right time, we'll whisk all their Pokémon away in one fair swoop.
Working to earn everyone's trust is a must.

YOU! [Team Rocket turn back to her]
Ah, Madame Catherine, you're right on time.
We're just getting our gourmet preparations underway now!

Good, no skimping, please. Keep in mind, Augustine's Trainers have giant appetites and just love to eat. Prepare a ton of food at least.

[Meanwhile, Ash and his friends are with Professor Sycamore and Sophie and Ash is concluding his story]

I wish I could've seen it too. So I guess you'll be battling Korrina and that powerful Mega Lucario at the Shalour Gym soon?

Everyone will be split into teams. As you can see, your team is called "Team Froakie".
[Inside the cabin, Ash puts his backpack down as he, Pikachu, Clemont and Serena, check out the cabin. Bonnie and Dedenne, meanwhile, are sitting on the top bunk of a bed]
[Serena opens a window and checks out the sea]
Speaking of summer camp, does this bring back any memories of when you two first met each other?
Yeah, it does. Let's make it as much fun as when we were kids.
[The episode opens on a sunny day in a forest]
Travelling through the forest en route to Coumarine City, site of Ash's next Kalos Gym battle, our heroes have met a Pokémon Trainer named Blake.
[Ash, Serena and Bonnie are sitting at a picnic table with Blake, and Clemont is doing the cooking while the Pokémon have their Pokémon food]
Right, so your house is really close to this forest, huh?
BBlake
Yeah, I've been out on a journey for about a year doing some training, and when I smelled all of your delicious food, I figured it was coming from my house. It'll be good to get back home. [Feels his stomach growling and he and Ash laugh]
[Clemont gives Blake some vegetable soup]
I made a lot, so dig in. Have as much as you like.
BBlake
Man, that looks delicious.
By the way, I wanted to ask you about your Pokémon.
[The camera pans right to the Pokémon, but it cuts to a male Meowstic who is eating with Pikachu]
BBlake
[off camera] It's a Meowstic.
BSBlake's Meowstic
Meow, meow. [Turns to Pikachu] Meowstic.
Pikachu
Pikachu.
I can't believe how pretty Meowstic's coat is.
It's beautiful. [Scans Meowstic with her Pokédex]
SSSerena's Pokédex
Meowstic, the Constraint Pokémon. When faced with trouble, Meowstic will raise its ears and create enough psychic power to demolish a ten-ton truck. [The screen shows a female Meowstic which is white] Its appearance varies, depending on gender.
Wow, so male and female Meowstic look different.

[about the soup] How do you like it?
BBlake
Huh? [Eats his vegetable soup] It's really delicious.
Do you think I could have some more?
Sure thing, you can have as much as you want. Huh? [Sees that Bonnie has not eaten some of her vegetables in her soup] Bonnie, you need to eat those veggies, please.
But I don't like these veggies at all.
But veggies are exceptionally nutritious. You won't grow up to become a first rate trainer if you don't eat them now.
Yeah, but you know there are veggies you don't eat 'cause you don't like THEM.
Wait a minute, you really don't like veggies?
Of course Clemont loves veggies, right?
Uh, that's irrelevant. You finish everything on your plate, Bonnie.
BBlake
He's only trying to take good care of you.
Yeah, but the closer they are, the more they fight. [The camera cuts to Blake] Isn't that the old saying?
[The camera cuts to Blake's Meowstic]
[Cut to outside the Dendemille Town Pokémon Showcase theater. People can be heard laughing as they hang out with their Pokémon and view billboards featuring elegantly dressed Performers and their partners in action.]
[off-screen] Look at all these people!
[Cut to our heroes and their Pokémon. Serena is looking for a place to register for a chance to redeem herself after her loss at the Courmarine City Showcase.]
Let's see... where do I register?
MMiette
[off-screen] Serena! Is that you?
[Miette is present with her Slurpuff and male Meowstic.]
MMiette
Long time, no see, everyone!
[Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie walk closer to greet her.]
So, how have you been, Miette?
Hi, Slurpuff! Good to see you!

[greeting] Slurpuff!

So, are you entering the Pokémon Showcase, too?

[This question causes Serena to back away and blush, as it is obviously about her crush on Ash.]

[enjoying the fun] Pikaaa!
Forget that! I'm all ready to compete in this performance, and I'm not going to lose like I did with the Poké Puffs!
[Braixen and Pancham sound their agreement.]
MMiette
Well, the same goes for me. Now, hear this! [She points her finger at Serena.] We are going to settle things once and for all! And then... [leans into Serena's ear] remember, I told you I might have a chat with Ash~. [Serena becomes flustered again. Miette runs toward the arena and giggles.] Later! Bye!
[Cut back to our heroes. Ash, blissfully unaware of his place in their rivalry, is happy that Miette shares the same energy, while Serena, still blushing, is irritated that Miette can be such a tease to her. On the other hand, Clemont is confused about the whole ordeal, while Bonnie gives off a devious smile, indicating she knows for certain that Serena has a massive crush on her childhood friend!]
Miette sure seems ready to go.
Pikachu
[in agreement] Pika!
[turns towards Ash] I'm ready to go, too!
Right! That's the spirit, Serena!
Pikachu
[in motivation] Pika-pika!
[shrugs] Ash can be so dense... [Clemont turns towards her.]
Bonnie, what are you talking about?

[The title card comes up]
[voiceover] Mending a Broken Spirit!
[Braixen is upset about her branch being broken]
BBraixen
Braixen. [Not my stick.]
PPancham
Pancham, pan. [Sucks to be you.]
[She then turns crossly to Pancham]
BBraixen
Braixen! [You take that back!]
PPancham
Pancham! [Make me!]
Wait, come on! Don't fight, you two. [Ash, Clemont and Bonnie run up to her]
Pikachu
Pikachu? [Something wrong, Braixen?]
BBraixen
Braixen. [Yes, look.] [Reveals her broken branch to Ash, Bonnie and Clemont who then become horrified]
Keep an eye on the past as you decide who you will be in the future. Remember this as we battle.
Right. My path is to get that seventh Gym Badge for sure.

Ha! [summons her two Meowstic] Then let us begin. You will be battling these Meowstic.
What do I do?! [looks at the ceiling of the Gym] Yeah! Pikachu, I want to try something!

Okay now, listen closely...[whispers plan to Pikachu]
Good, do what you can. This will be your test.
I'm all ready. I'll pass your test!
MMiette
Aaaand... [she wraps her arm around Serena's shoulder, causing her to blush.]

Huh? [looks behind her to see Ash, who is confused along with Pikachu and Clemont]

[Miette takes a sly aside glance at the camera.]

[giggles] See you later. Take care, Ash~
[unaware of her teasing, as usual] Yeah. You too, Miette!
[Fade to nighttime outside the outside the Gloire City Pokémon Center. Serena, now in her pajamas, sits pensively on the steps with Braixen, Pancham, and Sylveon. Ash, also in nighttime wear, and Pikachu, on his shoulder, walk up next to her to check in on her after her loss to Aria.]
What's wrong? Does it hurt? [He takes a seat on Serena's right]
Oh, no. I've been sitting here thinking.
Yeah. I'll bet you were thinking about your next performance, weren't you?
Mm-hmm. You could say that.
Of course. When I lose a battle, I get so excited about what I'm gonna do next time, my next strategy. Then I know I'm gonna win!

[suggestively, perhaps to tell Ash that Serena just complimented him, or to point out his denseness yet again] Piiikachu...~
[Serena turns to look at the waxing half moon, very slightly covered by the clouds.]
It all seems to come so naturally for you.

Seriously? I don't always know what to do...
But then... [He runs down the steps, turns around to face Serena and her Pokémon, and opens his arms, as if giving a presentation.]
...if I really think about it, I'd rather do stuff. 'Cause even if I goof up, I learn something. There's nothing we could ever do that's a waste of time!
[stretching his arms] Okay, time to hit the sack.
Pikachu
[jumps off of Ash's shoulder] Pi.
We've got an early morning tomorrow.
Yeah. [She stands up. With Ash's advice in mind, she stares at the moon with a new resolve to pick herself back up off her feet and take her next step.]
[Alain is talking to Lysandre atop the Prism Tower]
Lysandre, you said it yourself. You had to be strong to protect the world. Is this what you meant by that?
You speak of the power to protect. Just what do you want to protect in the first place? A tomorrow that is worse than today?
TFTeam Flare Grunt
[on a speaker] All preparations are complete.
[Then, the two men watch as Ash and his Pokémon, who are trapped in some sort of restraining device, are lifted to a higher part of the tower, which surprises Alain. Meanwhile, down on the ground, Blaziken Mask, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie have reached the Prism Tower]

First we secure the entrance. Use Flamethrower!
BBlaziken
Blay! [A Dark Pulse attack stops its Flamethrower attack]

[The camera pans up to Bryony and Aliana who are standing on a vine]

We can't allow that.

Sorry, but there's no way you're gonna pass us.

This area is off-limits to outsiders.
[This makes everyone cross. Meanwhile, up on Prism Tower, Ash has began waking up]
Huh? [Discovers that he has been captured] What am I doing like this? [Struggles to break free, but to no avail. He then looks down at his Greninja, who is just waking up] Greninja! [Sees the rest of his team, who have awakened] Pikachu! Are all of you okay?
Pikachu
Pikachu.
Hello, Ash. [Ash looks down at him]
Lysandre! Alain, what's going on? Let us go!
Forgive me for your regrettably rough treatment, but we can't release you.
[Ash and Pikachu see Zygarde]
Zygarde! [to Alain] Alain! What's this about?!
[Alain is still silent]
You see, Ash, you may be one of the chosen ones.
ZZygarde (Z2)
[in it's 50% Forme, speaking telepathically] Greninja, I've come to ask a favor of you.

The vines that reappeared, the roots have burrowed themselves deep into the ground, and they emerge by absorbing negative energy. What we destroyed was merely on the surface. The scars from the incident that nearly destroyed the world are deep! The two of us are destroying the roots that are scattered throughout Kalos one by one.

[telepathically] However, it's difficult for even me to pinpoint their exact locations, yet, Greninja, it seems that you are somehow able to locate them.

[in its Ash-Greninja form] Ja. [Yes.]
[gasps, then remembers the negative energy from the evil roots] So that was the negative energy...!
ZZygarde (Z2)
I do not know why only you possessed that power, but I am in need of your assistance.
SSquishy
Will you help us with your power?
[Gasps as Ash walks up to Greninja, which is now faced with the decision of its life.]
What'll it be, Greninja...?
[Greninja turns around and closes its eyes in a serious manner.]
[solemnly] I know. What happened before can never happen again.
[Greninja nods to Ash.]
Remember what Professor Sycamore said?
[A flashback of Greninja taking Pikachu's deflected Electro Ball to keep Pikachu healthy as a Froakie plays out, followed by the scene where Ash rushes to Sycamore's lab with it barely conscious in his arms.]
That maybe... it wasn't a coincidence that I met you way back when you were still a Froakie. I think that maybe, he was right. It wasn't a coincidence.
[Flashbacks of Froakie evolving into Frogadier and later defeating Anistar City Gym Leader Olympia play.]
That when you and I power up, it isn't an accident. Maybe your power was always meant for this moment.
[Flashbacks of Frogadier evolving into Greninja, battling Sawyer's Sceptile, and saving a Spewpa in the Winding Woods, followed by it and Ash shaking hands, play.]
Thanks. You always became stronger to help someone else. So now this time, you'll help Kalos and the world!
It's like something's telling you that what you need to do now is find all that negative energy! Don't worry! We'll always be connected, even we're not in the same place!

[nodding its head in understanding, realizing the future of the world of Pokémon lies in its hands] Gren.
[It walks up to Ash and extends its arm out, then Ash and Greninja clasp hands and embrace.]

[emotionally] Greninja...
[Serena, Clemont and Bonnie watch on distraught as Greninja turns away from Ash and walks towards Squishy and Z2.]
[with tears in his eyes] That's right. This is how it has to be.
GGreninja
Greninja. [It extends its arm to Squishy.]
SSquishy
[telepathically] Thank you.
[to Ash] Ash, Greninja will be in my care.
Yeah! I'm counting on you, Squishy!
[concerned about the future of her and Squishy's friendship] Hey, Squishy...?

We probably won't see each other for a while, Bonnie...
[almost breaks down crying, but is suddenly cheerful through her tears] It's okay! I know that you've got a lot of important work to do! I'll always be cheering you on, you know?
SSquishy
I'll always be with you too, Bonnie.
I'll come and find you when I become a Trainer! We'll be together again, that's a promise!
SSquishy

[Dedenne and the rest of Ash's Pokémon express their farewells to Squishy, Z2, and, most importantly, Greninja]

[Greninja holds Squishy in its hand and looks back as it leaves Ash and his friends]
Greninja and Ash may be parting ways, but this also means the beginning of new encounters! In search of their own new encounters, our heroes will no doubt experience many new and exciting adventures, as the journey continues!
[Dedenne, not wanting to say goodbye to Ash, Serena, and their Pokémon, has run off, sending the gang in a chase around Lumiose Airport. Using Pikachu's electricity, they find it hiding behind a conveyor belt's TV screen.]

[concerned] Pi... Pika-pika!
[startled] Ne... Ne-ne-ne?!
Pikachu
[concerned] Pikachu!
Dedenne! Dedenne, come out! I'm begging you!
[in protest] Ne... Ne! Denne! Dene-nne!
