Iruka quotes from Naruto: Shippūden

Iruka

[After Pain asks where Naruto is] You're wasting your time. I have no intention of telling you anything!

Naruto

Ichiraku's is the best.

I'm glad to hear you say that again.

Naruto

Except there is one thing I'm not too happy about.

Naruto, you come into my shop after all this time and the first thing you do is tell me what's wrong with my cooking?

Naruto

No it's not like that! There's nothing wrong with the ramen. It's perfect as always.

Then what is it?

Naruto

It's just, I was hoping the next time Iruka-sensei treated me to ramen would be on the day when I finally became a Chunin. Every single one of my classmates has made the leap up to Chunin. The only one who's still a Genin is me.

Iruka

It doesn't matter whether technically you're a Genin or a Chunin. You've been trained privately by Master Jiraiya himself.

Naruto

I know I know. But even that wasn't a walk in the park. That Pervy Sage is out of control! His training's so intense it messed up the headband you gave me. And all my clothes got totally ruined too. That's why I had to go get this new outfit made for me and a replacement cloth for my headband.

Naruto

Who knows, I might even be stronger than you now Iruka-sensei.

Iruka

What? Not so fast. You've got a long way to go before you can beat me.

Iruka

Naruto. I heard what happened to Master Jiraiya.

Naruto

[wiping his tears] All I ever wanted was for him to keep watching over me. I wanted him to see me become Hokage. But I only showed him the worst most uncool side of me. I'm still so-

Iruka

Listen to me. All Jiraiya ever had was praise for you. He kept saying that you were like his own grandchild. It's true. He had faith that you were the man who'd inherited his will. And he truly believed that you would be a wonderful Hokage one day. He's still watching and he always will be, even this very minute. No matter where he is I know that he wouldn't be happy to see you this upset and sad. Naruto, just go back to being the you that he praised so highly. Cheer up, for you are the distinguished student as one of the legendary Sannin, acknowledged by the great Jiraiya himself.

Naruto

Thanks, Iruka-sensei.
