Gabe quotes from Gotham

Oswald Cobblepot

A simple phone call would resolve things, I'm sure.

Harvey Bullock

But, see, I like having you here. 'Cause I can sit at my desk and look at you. It's soothing. Like a bonsai tree.

Gabe

What's a bonsai tree?

Gabe

I still don't get. Why all this trouble for this pile of bricks?

Oswald Cobblepot

This was never about money, Gabe.

Gabe

Not about money? What else is there?

Oswald Cobblepot

All kinds of things motivate people. Lust, ambition, envy.

Gabe

Okay. What motivated you? Why do you want this place so bad?

Oswald Cobblepot

It's simple: This is where I'm going to kill Don Maroni.

Raise your right hand. Do you swear to be loyal and true to Penguin?

Gabe

No.

Ouch.

Oswald Cobblepot

I don't understand. Why can't he be loyal?

Go ahead, answer.

Gabe

I never was. I only followed you out of fear. We all did.

Oswald Cobblepot

Actually, I can live with that. Fear and respect - Management 101.

Gabe

No one ever respected you. We always saw you for what you are: a tiny freak who used to hold an umbrella. Nothing more.

Oswald Cobblepot

A freak? A freak? [grabs a trowel and stabs Gabe repeatedly] Yes, a freak! A FREAK, A FREAK, A FREAK!
