Selina Kyle quotes from Gotham

Bruce Wayne

So now, are you gonna return it? Selina, you said-

Selina Kyle

Can you do it?

Bruce Wayne

That's really why you came to me. It wasn't about the money. [pause] You did not kill Rolland Charles.

Selina Kyle

... I was there, though. And what- what am I supposed to say? "I, I stole your jewelry, sorry."

Bruce Wayne

Sometimes, that's enough.

Selina Kyle

Hands off, big boy. [she aims the gun at the strongman, who releases Bruce; Bruce knocks him out] Still don't need my help, Bruce?

Bruce Wayne

Selina.

Jerome Valeska

"Selina", huh? Well, isn't that a nice name.

Bruce Wayne

Selina, don't!

Jerome Valeska

No, no, no, no. [grins] She's not that kinda girl.

Selina Kyle

[smiles coldly] Wrong answer, freak.

Jerome Valeska

Ah, that's funny, 'cause-

Jerome Valeska

[peeks out of the booth] Oops, alright! See you crazy kids later! Ciao! [he flees]

Selina Kyle

[angrily] ...You should've let me shoot him. [they both stand] It would've been over by now!

Bruce Wayne

Selina, I told you, I'm responsible for him. I can't just let him be shot, Selina, I can't.

Selina Kyle

I'm not taking responsibility for this mess! So let's get outta here before the cops show up, yeah? [pause] Come on!

Bruce Wayne

...It's not over yet.

Selina Kyle

[sighs, shakes her head]... Suit yourself. Just, don't take... so much responsibility, that you get yourself killed.

Bruce Wayne

We can find from Barbara where the League hides. Temples, safehouses, he'll be in one of them. Meanwhile, we'll try to fix the knife-

Selina Kyle

Yeah, we'll just take it to the magic knife shop, no problem.

Bruce Wayne

Selina, be serious.

Selina Kyle

I am. If Ra's wanted you dead, you would be. He obviously likes you.

Bruce Wayne

It's not about me.

Selina Kyle

I know it's not about you! [pause] Gotham has managed a long time without you. It can manage a little longer, if you have one night off. [sighs]... You did good today.

Bruce Wayne

... So did you. [he leans in to kiss her]

Ahem. [Selina and Bruce spin around] Poor timing. Apologies. I only want to talk... alone, please.

Selina Kyle

I'm staying.

Very well. She's right, you know, Bruce; I do like you. Respect you. Respect you for what you'll become.

Bruce Wayne

... You have no idea what I'll become.

Of course I do. At least, who you could become.

Bruce Wayne

Why are you here?

I felt I owed you an explanation, as to why I chose to live. When I took back the Demon's Head, I saw... a vision, of a cataclysmic event, soon to befall this city.

Bruce Wayne

What event?

A cleansing fire that will destroy, purify, create... create you, Bruce. Because I will use it as a mighty forge, molding you into a Dark Knight of Gotham. [turns toward the fireplace] If it doesn't kill you, that is.

Alfred Pennyworth

Right! Well, I'm gonna take a very long, and very hot, shower. And then I'm gonna make us a legendary fry-up. Will you be joining us, Miss Kyle?

Selina Kyle

[smirks] ...I got no plans.

Alfred Pennyworth

Excellent. [to Bruce] You all right, mate? [Bruce nods] Ok, then.

Bruce Wayne

...Thank you again. [he sits next to Selina, she props her feet across his lap] I don't know what would've happened, if you weren't there.

Selina Kyle

...You're welcome. [pause] Why do you think he's so obsessed with you?

Bruce Wayne

Jeremiah said, all it takes is one bad day to drive a person insane. I wonder if my parents' dying, made me a little insane. Maybe he sensed that. Maybe he wanted to bring it out.

Selina Kyle

[smiles] Well, you proved him wrong.

Jeremiah Valeska

[Nonchalant] To be fair...[Bruce and Selina jump up as he enters with a gun]... the day's not over yet.

Selina Kyle

Doc says, the surgery's a success; my spine's not gonna turn to jelly. [sarcastically] I'm still never gonna be able to walk again, so... that's a bummer.

Bruce Wayne

... There's limited resources here, but there's hope once we're on the mainland.

Selina Kyle

[Sarcastically] Gee... for a second there, I was worried.

Bruce Wayne

Selina, I know you're in pain... but the medicine is on it's way.

Selina Kyle

[scoffs]...You know what's funny? Jeremiah shot me to get to you. After all the things I've done... what did me in was being your friend. [turns away from Bruce] I just wish Jeremiah had killed me.

[quietly] Doctors can't help her. [Bruce stares at her] She needs the Witch.

Bruce Wayne

I want to find Jeremiah just as much as you do, but even if we find him, he's had months to fortify himself. We can't go after him alone.

Selina Kyle

You scared, Bruce?

Bruce Wayne

Of course I'm scared. Jeremiah shot you to get to me. He almost killed you. I won't lose you.

Selina Kyle

I'm not yours to lose.

Ecco

What's the matter? Don't you wanna meet Jeremiah?

Selina Kyle

I do. I'm just not willing to play your little psychotic game.

Ecco

[chuckles] But, baby... It's sooo fun.

Selina Kyle

[sarcastically] If it's so fun... why don't you play?

Ecco

Don't you get it? I have. [grins, reveals a bullet wound at the top of her neck] The bullet's still inside... rattlin' around this old noggin of mine. Ping. Ping. Ping. Boy, do I feel it when the nights get cold.

Selina Kyle

You're insane.

Ecco

No, I was willing to look death in the face. To allow the old me to die. It's the gift Jeremiah's brother Jerome left for him, and the gift he wants for all his followers. Don't you wanna experience this gift for yourself? [points the gun at Selina] I know I want you to... Selina.

Selina Kyle

[startled] You know me.

Ecco

There isn't a single part of Bruce Wayne's life we don't know about. His joys, his disappointments, his... desires. But, just like Bruce wasn't ready to embrace his true self... looks like you aren't, either.

Selina Kyle

May-be. [steps closer] But... one thing Jeremiah did teach me? [hisses] Is that I... hate...having a gun pointed at my face.

Ecco

[sneers] Oh, Puddin'... aren't you delicious!

Selina Kyle

Don't... call me Puddin'! [She drags Ecco up and holds the gun to her head.]

Ecco

[grins] There you go, Selina. I knew you had it in you! All it took was a little kick in the pants!

Bruce Wayne

Selina, I know you, and this isn't you.

Selina Kyle

[scoffs] You know me?

Bruce Wayne

Yes, maybe better than you know yourself.

Selina Kyle

Let me tell you something. That night when your parents were murdered, I was in that alley on the fire escape. And I watched that guy shoot your father, and shoot your mother... and through it all, I did nothing. [crying] I didn't call for help, I didn't scream for the guy to stop...

Bruce Wayne

It wasn't your fault. You were just a scared kid.

Selina Kyle

[abruptly stops crying] No. You were the scared kid. We're not the same, Bruce. I didn't do anything because I wasn't willing to risk my neck for somebody else. Because I didn't care! That's who I was, and that's who I am.

This is my workshop, where I make my boom-booms. Anything out there, boom-boom, then more boom, and soon, the whole room...

Selina Kyle

Boom-boom, we get it!

Selina Kyle

Penguin has been stealing everything that's not nailed down, and now he needs a way of getting it off the island.

Barbara Kean

And you're helping him.

Selina Kyle

Well, that's what he thinks. Barbara, Tabitha was my friend, too. If anything, I wanna gut the twerp... and take his loot.

Barbara Kean

Except you don't actually have a way out of Gotham.

Selina Kyle

I'll find one tonight. I'll still need your help moving the stuff. We can get outta here together.

Barbara Kean

Hmmm... Away from Jim Gordon, rich as Midas, Penguin dead in a ditch. Well, aren't we just two single ladies and a baby, about to kill our sworn enemy. [she raises a pistol, but Selina looks uncomfortable] What?

Selina Kyle

It's just, you're pregnant...

Barbara Kean

[uncocks the pistol] Don't even start!

Selina Kyle

Look, I know we have history. Why don't we let bygones be bygones?

Yeah, right! [points to a V-shaped scar on his cheek] You did this to my face!

Selina Kyle

Whatever. It's not like you were much of a looker before, anyway.

Selina Kyle

You're there, aren't you? Do you have any idea what you did just leaving? You were all I had. And I know you wanted to protect me. But I didn't want to be protected. I wanted you. Say something. Say something.

There was no other way, Selina. I had to go.

Selina Kyle

So what happens now?

I don't know. But I'll never leave Gotham again. Return the diamond.

Selina Kyle

Like hell.
