[embarrassingly annoyed] Good morning, everyone! I'd made us a nice... family... breakfast.
“Go to the Movies / Car Trip” · Season 3, Episode 4
In this episode: Sister Bear (7), Mama Bear (7), Papa Q. Bear (3)
I called this emergency meeting because we're having a family crisis. We don't do anything together as a family anymore. I think we need to spend more time together.
Brother Bear But we're spending time together right now. [He smiles and Sister nods, but then they look up in surprise at Mama's next words.]
Mama Bear I mean special family time together when we go out and do things as a family, like spending a day at the beach, or visiting the Bear Sounion Institution.
I guess the problem is just trying to find the time.
Exactly, so I say we make the time. I porpose that next Saturday we go on a special family picnic.
We haven’t done that in a while.
I love picnics.
I’ll bring my ant jar… Only my Bear Scout Troop’s having our car wash for charade next Saturday.
And next Saturday is Lizzy's Birthday.
And I have to finish the Squire’s end table next Saturday. [Mama sighs] What about spending time together after all that?
I know, we can go see a movie.
But we would be just sitting in a dark room eating popcorn. That's not really the special family time I had in mind. [sighs] But if that's the best we can do, then a movie it is. [Brother and Sister hug Mama,] At least we'll be doing something together as a family.
[One week has passed]
Goodness, a whole week gone already. Come on, Bear Family! Time to spend some family time together!
What movie are we going to see?
Look at all these movies. They used to show only one at a time.
Let’s go see Goopy Monsters from the Sewer!
Ew! How about The Ballerina Slipper?
What about an action packed adventure movie?
Mama, a star is coming closer, and it's landing on my nose!
[chuckles] That's a firefly. I think it likes you!
I think I got the last spot.
Well, you're just in time, Papa.
[when Mama, Papa, Sister and Brother try to buy the tickets] I'm sorry. All movies are sold out tonight.
[The ticket vendor bear closes the curtain on the ticket station. Then she offscreen puts a "SOLD OUT!" sign in front of the ticket station window. Mama, Papa, Sister, and Brother groan in disappointment.]
We have tried to get some special family time together, but this is what happens!
[All the movies at the movie theater are sold out. And what's more, it was the last day any bear in Bear Country can see them. Those "films" which were at the theater that night aren't going to be released on VHS video or home movie projector films. And by extension, this is the last day for the cinema theater to be open. No movies can be seen there ever again because it's closing down, going out of business, after today night. The cinemas theater in Bear Country is closing its doors for good in favor of being replaced with a new building in its former site. As for the "cinema" subject, there's going to be no more cinema theaters in Bear Country whether that's normal or drive-in theaters ever again, period.]
We've been having special family time together all night, Mama.
That's right.
If you keep an open mind, you just might be surprised.
Keep an open mind?
That means you have to wait and see what is coming before you decide whether you like it or not.
All we've been seeing is nothing but trees and rocks for the last hour and a half.
Be patient. Our first stop is coming up very soon.
That's what Mama said two thousand trees and rocks ago.
This trip is great!
You can say that again.
Okay. THIS TRIP IS GREAT! [voice echoes]
