[One day, Ash and Cilan are starting a practice battle with Swadloon and Stunfisk respectively. Iris, Axew and Pikachu are watching the battle from a nearby tree stump]
As our heroes make their way to the Driftveil City Gym and Ash's next Gym Battle, Ash has enlisted Cilan for a practice battle.

Okay, Cilan, we'll make the first move.

Now, Swadloon, String Shot!
[But just as Swadloon uses its String Shot attack, Iris, Axew and Pikachu get blasted out of their tree stump seat. Ash catches Pikachu]
[Cilan catches Axew]
[Iris lands in front of Ash and looks behind]
[A Deino pops its head out of the rubble]

[Ash scans the Deino that has just appeared]

Deino! [Runs off and crashes through some rocks]
Deino's a Dragon-Type, so leave it to me. [Approaches Deino] Deino, hi!

Deino! [Uses Headbutt on Iris who then lands on Axew]

Huh? [Sees two more Deinos eating the group's lunch] Not another Deino.
Oh, they're gobbling up all our food!
AAsh
[crossly] Nothing ticks me off more than stealing my food!
[Pikachu lunges at the two Deinos but the Deinos run away. Then, one of them bounces on him]
AAsh
Use String Shot, Swadloon, and catch those Deino quick!
SSwadloon
Swadloon! [Uses String Shot, but it misses the two Deinos, one of which uses Headbutt on Ash]
You just calm down! [Tries to catch the other Deino but fails]
[Meanwhile, the other Deino that Cilan tried to stop jumps on Stunfisk, making it blubber. Then, the two Deino hide in a bush and giggle]
Interesting! You want me to catch you, right? Okay.
[Ash and Pikachu get in Iris' way]

I want to catch one, too. Don't be selfish.
Come on! This was my idea. What a kid.
[It is nighttime on Milos Island, and in Lewis' cabin, Lewis' Lilligant is poorly whimpering in her sleep. Lewis, Cilan, Iris and Ash are sitting at the table looking at her]
[Ash scans Lilligant with his Pokédex]

Lilligant, the Flowering Pokémon. The beautiful flower on Lilligant's head gives off a relaxing fragrance, although getting it to bloom can be difficult even for a veteran Trainer.

Well, you see, in the past, Lilligant has always helped me out while I search the forest for Revival Herbs, but then Lilligant started getting sick. And Lilligant's not the only one. [The camera cuts to the outside of Lewis' lodge] There's a group of Cottonee that always fly above the fields here. They've gotten sick as well.
But do you have any idea why?
Lilligant and Cottonee are both grass-type Pokémon.
LLewis
Yeah, it's possible that the land itself is somehow sick. That could be affecting them.
AAsh
Why not use Revival Herbs?
LLewis
Because I can't find any. Without Lilligant, it's next to impossible and the Revival Herbs I do find are dried out. I'm sorry you came all this way for nothing.
Do you have any idea why Revival Herbs only grow on this island?
LLewis
Mm-hm. Well, it's kind of a long story, but I'll give it a shot. [Goes over to the shelf behind him] It's an ancient legend of Milos Island.
And why it's called the Island of Legends.
LLewis
That's right. [He shows Ash and his friends an ancient picture] It all started long ago. There's the legend of Landorus, the Abundance Pokémon. In ancient times, Landorus got caught in the middle of a battle between Savage Thundurus, the Bolt Strike Pokémon, and fierce Tornadus, the Cyclone Pokémon. So, Landorus came between them to try to stop their fighting, but Landorus was horribly wounded as a result. Then the inhabitants of the island used some Revival Herbs to heal Landorus' wounds. After regaining its strength, Landorus drove the battling Thundurus and Tornadus away. To thank the people who healed it, Landorus transformed the land into a fertile paradise. At least, that's how the legend goes.

There's always been an abundance of Revival Herbs since then.
LLewis
But with this, if things don't change, Lilligant and Cottonee will get weaker while the whole forest dries up.
LLewis
We need it to rain, so, tomorrow, we're having a rain-making ceremony.
AAsh

[Clay summons Krokorok into the battle]
Pika, Pikachu! [Ready when you are!]

Hold on Pikachu. We got a problem. Krokorok is a Ground-type. Your Electric type moves won't be effective against it!
[Ash's Snivy effortlessly stomps out Clay's Palpitoad, much to Clay's fury]

WHY YOU LITTLE WHIPPERSNAPPER PIPSQUEAK! Palpitoad return! [furiously recalls Palpitoad] You're really starting to make me mad and I don't like that! If there's one thing that I will not tolerate, it's a battle that's unfair!

Unfair?! What are you talking about?! That was just my strategy.

STRATEGY?! A young whippersnapper like you should forget about strategy and attack head on like a real man!
AAsh
My goal is to become a Pokemon Master. I'm not about to give up now.
CClay
You still don't get it, kid. [shows off his pickaxe to Ash] Take a look at this pickaxe. I started digging this mine with it along with Excadrill back when I was a young whippersnapper about your age. And now look how big it is. But you think that you're all ready to become a Pokemon master lickety-split. I used this pickaxe to dig every square inch of this mine which earned me the title, King of the Mines! So my job is to show you how tough the road to the top really is, see? [Note: In other words, there are no shortcuts in life, hard work is how you can get to the top]

Cool! I'm gonna travel all over the world and catch lots of Pokémon, and then I'm gonna make them all my friends.

Don't forget, this is what's important! [places his hand over Mick's heart]

You bet. It doesn't matter if you're catching Pokémon or battling: Making sure you do it all with your heart is the most important thing of all.
[After losing to a Pokémon battle to Mick, fair and square]

But all I was doing was battling the best that I know how.

[Ash's hand grabs Glenn's wrist before he lands a punch.]
[Iris and Cilan look on with a look of shock, seeing the serious angry side of Ash.]

[Cilan angrily stomps off towards Skyla]

[The camera zooms out of the battlefield at the Clubsplosion stadium in Ambiga Town, where Burgundy is battling against Iris]]
Maintenant, it's Evaluation time, s'il vous plait. [Points to her opponent] It is my duty as a Pokémon connoisseusse to offer a cool and elegant move pour vous. Attention, Dewott, Ice Beam!

Dewott! [Here comes Ice Beam!] [Uses Ice Beam]
[Georgia, Cilan and Ash are watching the battle from outside the battlefield]

They're using Ice Beam! When did they learn that?
[Excadrill dodges every Ice Beam attack by jumping as ice sculptures are formed]

Wott! [Dodge this!] [Uses Ice Beam which uses Excadrill back. When the dust clears, it is revealed that some ice is stuck to Excadrill's body]

Ex! [How stupid are you?!] [Breaks the ice]
[The camera cuts to Freddy O'Martian and Don George in the commentary booth]

And Excadrill deflects the Ice Beam. So, Don George, your thoughts about that?

Dewott's attacks are looking pretty sharp out there. But Excadrill's looking very confident as well. I would expect a tough battle.
[The camera cuts to the trainers watching the battle from outside the battlefield]
Dewott may be stronger than I had originally thought. Excadrill and Iris may be facing a tough match.
Well those two had better win that tough match. I'm the only one allowed to beat that Dragon Master wannabe.

Don't worry, she's going to win.
[Later, at Ambiga Town's Pokémon Centre, everyone is having lunch, including Ash and his friends. Then, Burgundy speaks]
I'm OK, at least I didn't lost to you-know-who. Cilan, next time we battle, watch out - I'll win before you know what hit you. And stop with those boring remarks.
Relax, Burgundy. I look forward to watching you get stronger.
And as for you, Iris - next time you're going down.
Not so fast! The only trainer who's going to beat Iris is me.

[Meanwhile, Ash smiles, but then he sees Trip who has just finished eating his own meal]

Take your Scraggy. [A flashback with Scraggy using Focus Blast plays] Scraggy seems to have learned Focus Blast, but it's obvious you can't depend on it. [The flashback ends] It needs to be more accurate. To be blunt, it's low-class.

What?! Hey, Trip, hold on. Ugh! [Turns to Scraggy] Scraggy, I want to see your Focus Blast again.

Wow. Thanks Emolga. Swadloon evolved because of you. That was a great battle.

[At night, Ash, Iris, Cilan and their Pokémon have gone to a diner in Astilbe Town]
All right, it's dinner time, everybody. [The Pokémon start eating their food] Wow! look at them go. They must really like it a lot.
[But then, Tepig notices something]
Tepig? [He sees his former trainer, Shamus] Te... [Starts remembering how he got abandoned by Shamus] Tepig! [Runs up to Shamus delightfully] Tepig! Tepig! Tepig!
[Looks down to Tepig] Hmm? What's your problem?

Huh? [Gets out of his seat] That's my Tepig. Sorry.
[to Ash] Huh? Oh, it's you.

Hey! Come here, Tepig.
Tepig? [Puts his paw on Shamus' right leg] Tepig!
Tepig seems to have taken a liking to that trainer, I would say.
Huh? Ash, remember that Tepig was abandoned by its original Trainer?

[horrified] Oh! [Flashback to when he tried to get the rope around Tepig's snout] Who could have done such a thing? [The flashback ends] I think it was at the battle club in Accumula Town.
I see. This all must have happened before I started travelling with you.

[turning to Shamus] Could that be the guy?
[Iris bangs her hand on the table]
It's as clear as the hair on my head! [Goes to confront Shamus]

Iris, wait! [He and Cilan go to confront Shamus as well]

I think my Tepig might be the same Pokémon you abandoned back at the Accumula Battle Club.
Oh? [Turns to Tepig] Huh. Lucky for you, this guy gave you a break.
[enraged] HOW dare you just throw away a Pokémon like that?!

[enraged] THAT'S JUST WRONG! SAY YOU'RE SORRY RIGHT NOW!
[Shamus picks up Tepig]
Not on your life. What a waste! [Throws Tepig and Ash catches him]

[After recalling his defeated Emboar and Heatmor, Shamus walks over to Ash, Snivy and Pignite]

You still got a problem, Shamus?!
Oh no, you won the battle fair and square. [to Pignite] Sorry Pignite. I was totally wrong when I said you had no talent and I hope you'll forgive me.

Pignite? [Forgive you?]
Hey, I know! Since you haven't been able to forget me after all this time, why don't you come back to the team? We'll be great, give up on this loser trainer and come with me. We'll reach the top with the new Fire Warriors! What do you say?
[Pignite thinks a second, but remembering that Shamus replaced him with a 'better' Emboar, Pignite violently retaliates with Flamethrower burning Shamus' face. Pignite stands next to Ash]
