S2 E20Lifetime Piling Up

[voiceover] Douglas Adams once wrote, he felt that his whole life was some kind of dream, and he sometimes wondered who's it was, and whether they were enjoying it.

S2 E21What Could Have Been

One thing I've learned from all this Jake craziness is you've gotta grab every second you have with the people you love. Just don't forget about your "ho's".

Come here. You are the best friend ever, P. Sawyer. But honestly: if Lucas and I couldn't make it as a couple before, what makes you think we can now?

Well, for one thing, I wouldn't make out with him this time.

Huh.

And another, he's not the same guy. And you are definitely not the same girl.

Listen, we've been so caught up in Peyton and Nathan, I feel like I haven't really checked in with you. How you doing? Without Felix around.

Fine. He was not the guy for me.

Well I'm sure the guy's out there somewhere.

Maybe. But I'm scared to open up my heart like that again.

Isn't the alternative even scarier?

Sure I get lonely sometimes. That's hard. But I guess that's the price you pay for figuring out what you really want, right?

S2 E22The Tide That Left And Never Came Back

[Voiceover]

And Hansel said to Gretel: Let us drop these bread crumbs so that together we can find our way home. Because losing our way would be the most cruel of things. This year I lost my way.

And losing your way on a journey is unfortunate. But losing your reason for the journey...is a fate more cruel.

The journey lasted eight months. Sometimes I traveled alone. Sometimes there were others who took the wheel... and took my heart. But when the destination was reached, it wasn't me who'd arrived. It wasn't me at all.

And once you lose yourself, you have two choices: Find the person you used to be or lose that person completely.

Because sometimes you have to step outside of the person you’ve been and remember the person you were meant to be. The person you wanted to be. The person you are.

TTeacher

There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart`s desire. The other is to gain it.

[starts breathing shallowly] I can't breathe. There's no room in Chris' ego! Can we go?

I need you to forget about me, and move on, okay? You're too amazing to carry this around. You're too full of greatness... and I love you too much. :[They cling to each other]. I have to go.

No!

I can't have Jenny be with Nikki.

Jake. Thank you.

You know I could've held you in my arms forever? It still wouldn't have been long enough.

[Voiceover]

George Bernard Shaw once wrote: There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart`s desire. The other is to gain it. Clearly, Shaw had his heart broken once or twice.

So Mr.Shaw thinks that getting your heart`s desire is a tragedy? I say he`s wrong. I mean, clearly Shaw never kissed Erica Marsh.

As far as I concerned, Shaw was a punk. 'Cause you know what? Tragedies happen. What are you gonna do, give up? Quit? No, I realize now that when your heart breaks, you got to fight like hell to make sure you're still alive. Because you are. And that pain you feel? That's life. The confusion and fear? That's there to remind you, that somewhere out there is something better, and that something is worth fighting for.

This year I got everything I wanted and everything I wished for. But in a way, I lost even more.

Shaw was right. As we strain to grasp the things we desire, we strain to grasp the things we think will make our lives better: money, popularity, fame...we ignore what truly matters ... the simple things... like friendship, family, love. The things we probably already had.

Yes, losing your heart`s desire is tragic. But gaining your heart`s desire? That`s all you can hope for. This year I wished for love...to immerse myself in someone else and to wake a heart long afraid to feel. My wish was granted. And if having that is tragic, then give me that tragedy. Because I wouldn`t give it back for the world.

S2 E23The Leavers Dance

Tennessee Williams once wrote: We all live in a house of fire. No fire department to call. No way out. Just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns down the house...with us trapped, locked in it.

[walks in on Nathan and Peyton involved in a tickle-fight] Well, well. First Lucas, then Jake and now Nathan... I guess "slutty" is in season.

And why is Bitch being a Brooke?

Because! I'm leaving tomorrow for the summer, possibly forever, and my best friend is off giving interviews and having psuedo-innocent foreplay with kind-of married guys.

LUCAS! Do not make me join you!

Uh, a little privacy here.

No, you've been in the shower forever! By the time I even get in the water it's gonna be...[Checks water] cold! Are you taking a cold shower?!

No, the hot water-

Gross! You are! You know what? Next wet dream, tell Peyton I said 'Hi'. Ew!

[Talking to herself] Well... I'll see you Brooke, have a nice summer. Oh thanks everybody...

Talking to yourself?

What is your summer job driving a cab?

I put your stuff in the car.

So I guess this is goodbye...

Tell me that was a goodbye kiss...

I wanna be with you Brooke.

What?

I'm sorry. I know we're friends. It's just how I feel.

What about Peyton's stuff?

I keep that stuff as a reminder of how badly I screwed up things... with you. To remind myself that if I ever got a second chance... I'd never let you go again.

I don't know what to say. I um... I gotta go...

Brooke! Do you think you could ever-

Lucas... I'm sorry. I gotta go... Bye.

Have a nice summer Brooke.

S3 E1Like You Like An Arsonist

I deleted you. Your messeage

Well... Then you deleted this: Um... I was being childish when I walked away from you for the tour. You gave me an ultimatum the night that I left and, uh, I fought back for all the wrong reasons. I was being stubborn... and I can't take that back, I wish that I could. Did I want to go? Yeah. I loved it, I loved every night of it. But I want you to know something Nathan. There was never a night where I loved it more than I loved you.

...

I understand if you don’t love me anymore.

Always and forever. That’s what sucks, Haley. I still do love you. I always will. I just can’t trust you.

This is our new post-game party palace. All it needs is a P. Sawyer makeover, a little paint, couple of those creepy nobody-understands-me drawings that you do and a batch of hot boys.

PPriest

May the grace of god be with you.

Yeah, OK. I gotta tell you, padre, this isn’t exactly my home court, you know. I never had much use for religion. I guess what you call kindness, I call weakness. But .. no man is bullet-proof. I know that. After all, they crucified your boy, didn’t they?

PPriest

What troubles you, my son?

What troubles me -- is how I’ve made mistakes. How I lie awake at night, keeping company with regret, fallibility. I’ve not been the man I intended to be. That troubles me.

PPriest

And you’ve come seeking absolution?

Yeah, I suppose I have. Let me ask you something; is it possible to grant forgiveness for sinful acts yet to be committed?

PPriest

I’m afraid I don’t understand.
