Nathan

[to Haley] When I fell to the floor tonight, I was so scared, I was so terrified. Then I saw you, and I promised myself that if I could just get up, I'd walk over to you... I'd tell you how much I need you and how much I want you... and how nothing else matters.

[Tim and Nathan knock on a front door]

Nathan

Good evening Mr or Mrs Tree Hill resident [Tim holds up two cookie boxes] We are selling these delicious cookie to raise money for Lady Leprechauns, an organization that empowers us girls to be strong, beautiful, independent women of tomorrow.

Nathan

So you want me to tell you something about myself? I don’t have anything to say. Even if I did, you’d be wrong to believe me. Trust is a lie. Nobody ever knows anyone.

Nathan

[voiceover] Douglas Adams once wrote, he felt that his whole life was some kind of dream, and he sometimes wondered who's it was, and whether they were enjoying it.

Nathan

[voiceover] Life's funny sometimes and can push pretty hard, like when you fall in love with someone, but they forget to love you back. Like when your best friend and your boyfriend leave you alone. Like when you pull the trigger or light the flame and can't take it back.

Nathan

[voiceover] Every once in a while people step up, they rise above themselves. Sometimes they surprise you, and sometimes they fall short. Life is funny sometimes, it can push pretty hard, but if you look close enough you find hope in the words of children, in the bars of a song and in the eyes of someone you love. And if you're lucky, and if you're the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back.

Nathan

You know it's been said that we just don't recognize the significant moments of our lives while they are happening. We grow complacent with ideas, or things or people and we take them for granted and it's usually not until that thing is about to be taken away from you that you've realized how wrong you've been that you realized how much you need it, how much you love it. God, I love this game.

Nathan

Stepping up. It's a simple concept. It basically means to rise above yourself; to do a little more, to show you're something special. Something like this.... Lucas is gone but that doesn't mean the season is over. As a matter of fact, I say it's just beginning. You might want to stay out of my way for a while.... Life's funny sometimes; can push pretty hard like when you fall in love with someone but they forget to love you back like when your best friend and your boyfriend leave you alone like when you pull the trigger or light the flame and you can't take it back. Like I said, in sports they call this 'stepping up'. In life, I call it pushing back.

Nathan

As many of you know, I called this press conference today to announce where I'm planning to play basketball in college. I got a lot of great offers but its always been my dream to play in Duke University, so ah... that's where I plan to go but... You know, my father said that today will be the greatest day of my life, and you're right dad, it is. But it's not because of basketball. You see, today I learned that my wife Haley is pregnant. It's an absolute honor to be recruited by Duke University. I guess what I have to say to you today is this: where I play basketball, if I play basketball, is no longer a decision for me to make alone. It's a decision that I make with my wife and my family's best interests at heart, and when I do I'll let you all know. My wife couldn't be here today so, I just wanted to say one thing to her: Haley, no matters what happens, we face it together. I promise you, I've never been happier. Everything is gonna be okay. I love you. Thank you.

Nathan

You know, I thought it was a miracle that I survived that accident. And I guess I never really felt worthy of it. Now I know that miracle wasn't for me. It was for us. All three of us!

Nathan

(to principal Turner) Do you have a wife, Principal Turner? Isn't she the best part of you? Would you want her to pay for your mistakes? We all make mistakes. And, believe me, I'm paying for mine, but --- Haley is a good person. She's worked for four years to be valevictorian. She deserves to be recognized.

Nathan

(voiceover during basketball tryouts) Numbers are funny. They can measure you, time you, and analyze you all they want, but they all know what really matters is how you play the game. He thinks I've lost a step because of my accident, so he's gonna play me tight. I haven't. Now he'll back off because he doesn't want to get beat off the dribble. Just a half step; that's a mistake. You ever hear the expression you can't measure heart? Well, the truth is they can't measure any of it: heart, want, need. They think I can't play point guard, but Q knew I could. You can't measure a dream.

Nathan

I’m a professional basketball player; girls get a hold of my email and my cell phone number all the time. And when they contact me I call them back to tell them stop, because I’m happily married to a woman who loves and trusts me. But I guess that was a lie, because you don’t trust me, do you?
