Hey, remember all the water balloon battles we use to have up here?
Haley
Don’t change the subject. Actually now that you mention it, it was Junior Year the Boy Toy Auction, we had that water balloon fight up here and you saw my tattoo of Nathan’s jersey number for the first time.
The point is, I was so scared that night, I was falling in love for the first time and I was so unsure and I did it. And while it hasn’t been easy, it has being everything. We’re not kids anymore Luke you know, it really hurts me what your doing.
Don’t give me that Luke. I’m being honest with you now right now and you need to be honest with yourself. What do you want? If Lindsey’s the girl your in love with great. If it’s Peyton, great and if it’s Brooke just please, stop hiding your heart. I mean it.
Alright. How about, I hate you bitch you ruined my life. Does that do anything for ya?
Haley
[laughs] You know what, I do have some words for you, even though they're not mine. Lucas and I, we use to write our predictions every year, before the school year started. Sort of what we'd hope would happen.
Anyway, I'm gonna violate my friendship rule here because your at like code red. [Haley reads Luke's predictions] Peyton Sawyer will become Peyton Scott, that was like 8th grade.
He got a little cocky sophomore year. [continues reading Luke's predictions] Make out with Peyton Sawyer or more. Take Peyton Sawyer to a movie. This year I'll talk to Peyton Sawyer. Try again with Brook- Brooke Davis. [Haley and Peyton laugh] Well that.. you know this is how much he doesn't hate you, it's a whole lifetimes worth.
Yeah.. you know Ellie once told me not to be afraid of the music, just cause it might end. Thanks Haley, you really are a good friend. And I am so happy I never shared any of my secrets with you.
I played that game for you, Haley and you know what? I’d give it up for you too. Because as much as I love playing the game and the person that I am when I play it, I love being a husband and a father more.
Coach Taylor, Quentin always had so many nice things to say about you. And you too, Nathan. I really appreciate you boys coming here. But I mostly wanted to say thank you to this one. My son has always loved basketball but the day I can tell you, the day I came home and found him reading a book, it about gave me a heart attack. He said, "Mommy, Mrs. James-Scott, she don’t play. She almost as bad as you are." I realize that you are all trying to help him live up to the greatness God gave him and you should be proud of that.
Haley
Your strength is inspiring.
DDenise
My strength is from Jesus Christ. I am going to miss my baby boy for the rest of this life but I know we are going to see him again and our faith will see us through.
[in class] You know what? Um...you guys asked me what the point was to all of this, school, literature...life. And, uh I said there was no point. And that's not true. What I should have said was, "I don't know". Because the truth is, not long ago, I sat where you are and wondered exactly the same things. When something that's tragic and evil and unexplainable happens, like losing someone forever...I still wonder, just like you do. Alright, everybody, get out a piece of paper and pen.
SSamantha
Why?
Haley
Because this is a literature class. When archaeologists uncover lost civilizations and they unearth their worlds that have long been since been destroyed, you know what they find most often? They find stories, ancient languages, words, inscriptions from people who have been gone for thousand of years, because chances are, like you, they wanted to know, "Whats the point?" And they wanted us to know that they were here, you know? Like they told their stories, and they tried to make sense of their lives and their worlds and their tragedies. So that's what we are gonna do. So I want you to write something, anything at all, about Quentin Fields. If you knew him, write a favorite memory. If you didn't know him, write what you think the point is of all this for yourself and your life and your time here. This is a literature class and that's what writers do. We put pen to paper in times of devastating tragedy. And we try and make sense of it. Maybe we will find some clarity in some of those words. Maybe we will find peace.
[Haley takes a marker and writes on Quentin's desk: "He who does not weep, does not see."
Okay. That’s too bad, because, you know, Jamie’s sleeping over at Brooke’s and thought maybe you’d want a little massage. But you know, it’s fine. I’ll...
Your students walked across town to be taught by you. It's hard to get them to walk down the hall to most classes. Would you consider...
Haley
I love teaching but I would never sacrifice what I believe in to teach. You fired me right here in front of all my students just because you could. So congratulations, you made a good teacher not want to teach and good students not want to learn. Be proud of that.
It’s okay, what do you say Haley James? Want to take the boy to Charlotte and maybe we could see a basketball game? I kind of have to be there anyway, seeing as I’m the Bobcats’ new point guard.
(On TV) Last night in the NBA the Charlotte Bobcats quietly made a move that most sports fans wouldn’t have noticed, adding a point guard to their roster for the rest of the season. But we’re leading with that story because this point guard is a local legend who overcame adversity and difficult circumstances in pursuit of a dream. Last night the Charlotte Bobcats called up a former Tree Hill Raven, a great guy and a good friend Nathan Scott. Jamie Scott hug your dad for all of us because he just made it to the NBA and we couldn’t be more proud!
Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from money or fame or power. Sometimes happiness comes from good friends and family and the quiet nobility of leading a good life.
Wow I don't want to. I just simply suggested it and said it was an option.
Haley
It's not an option Clay, and while we are suggesting things, let me suggest that you are a huge reason why it's happening right now. You love it, the parties, the women and you love having Nathan alongside more than anything else.
No? The picture... the one of that woman draped all over my husband. What party was that at Clay? Who threw that party? I'm not saying you don't love him 'cause I know you do but you love having him at your side more than anything else. You could have protected him from this..
