Ali and Rue in “Unfinished Business”

Ali

Hello.

Rue

Ali? It’s, um–It’s Rue.

Ali

What do you want, Rue?

Rue

Um... I just wanted to, uh, call you and tell you that, um... I just wanted to call you and tell you that I’m sorry for what I said. Um... and I really regret it. Uh... I just-I never should’ve said that.

Ali

Rue–

Rue

And I’m sorry. I’m sorry.

Ali

Rue! Listen to me. I forgive you.

Rue

You do?

Ali

I do.

Rue

[sniffling] How do you know that I mean it?

Ali

Because the hour is certain to come. So we must forgive graciously.

Rue

[crying] Thank you. [shudders] Thank you.
