Daredevil: Born Again quotes

Daredevil?

Daredevil

It's okay, I'm here. Yeah. I'm here.

Matt

Okay, Heather, you realize I used to have this whole other life... And it was a lot different to this.

Heather

At your old firm, with your old friends. Foggy and... Karen.

Matt

Kinda. Y'know and sometimes, this-- This all feels... To- To me, it feels like... fake.

Heather

Fake?

Matt

Not- Not you.

Heather

Yeah. I'm sorry to do this, but you have been tamping down trauma for so long, you can't even see when it's bubbling up inside of you and threatens to ruin everything good you have.

Matt

I know. I know.

Heather

Everything good we have.

Matt

Yeah. And I'm trying really hard to fight it.

Heather

It's not a fight. It's a process.

Fisk

When I brought you over from your previous life, can you recall why I said I hired you?

Buck

I believe you called it my ability to think... asymmetrically.

I mean, all I ever wanted to be was an artist -- to be the person I am now, and... That's all thanks to you.

Heather

That is kind of you to say, but I'm just the conduit.

No, you're the key. Don't you see that? I mean, you've unlocked something in me, Dr. Glenn, something I didn't know was missing! You've allowed my creativity to flourish, to soar to heights I never even imagined!

Heather

So, um... Let's talk about homework--

No, you're not listening to me, Dr. Glenn! This city is finally starting to see me for who I really am.

Heather

Does that mean you've been displaying your art?

You could say that.

Kirsten

We're a team here. And hiding things from one another isn't gonna get us anywhere. I trust you and I trust Matt. Be nice if that was a two-way street.

Fisk

[To his Anti-Vigilante Task Force] You are the thin, dark line protecting this city. Remind them of that!

You're not stupid, BB. You see, this here? This is a carrot-and-a-stick situation, with a very big carrot and a very big stick.

Are you actually threatening me?

No! No. I'm presenting you with an opportunity -- a great one, with a great man. And what you decide in the next few seconds will determine how totally awesome or totally shitty the rest of your life is. And I'd be so stoked if you made the right call! You know?

All these new terms... We used to just call it "Cops, Snitches, and Psychos". Which one are you, Poindexter?

Matt

I'm not so sure you can put Muse and Daredevil in the same category.

Heather

Not so sure that you can't. They're just these underdeveloped boys hiding behind masks, trying to make it look like something more sophisticated.

Matt

That's a pretty dark view; I mean, think they're completely different animals.

Heather

You weren't there, Matt.

Matt

No, I'm just saying that... that Muse tried to kill you, Daredevil saved you.

Heather

I saved me. They were both out there for themselves.

Fisk

I'm better than I was. I am. I am... And i-if I cannot be with you, Vanessa, I cannot be.

Matt

Y'know, we-- put Poindexter away and it changes nothing, alright? We defend Hector Ayala and he's still murdered, probably by the same cops who are out there assaulting citizens, by the way, alright? Leroy Bradford goes away for eating a box of caramel corn. Heather's assaulted by Muse and she thinks Fisk is right. And now this asshole, this privileged sociopath can get away with ripping off teachers! We're not serving justice here, you know? We're babysitting chaos. This, us, what we do, it feels useless.

Kirsten

I get it. I really get it. It's all a lot. You... You've been through a lot. But this can't happen like this.

Poindexter

You hear that? Outside? That is the roar of the jungle, counselor. Is that what I am to you? An animal? One of them? 'Cause that's what this is all about, right? Who is the predator and who is the prey?

Heather

What are you gonna do? Confront the mayor at his own party?

Matt

Maybe.

Heather

That's acting out, Matt.

Matt

And mental health is knowing when and where to do it.

Fisk

You know, it's been said that keeping secrets can make us sick.

Fisk

In business, there's always a tipping point in a negotiation. We are in that place with this city. It just needs a little push... and they'll come to us with open arms.
