Dex Poindexter quotes from Daredevil: Born Again

Poindexter

You hear that? Outside? That is the roar of the jungle, counselor. Is that what I am to you? An animal? One of them? 'Cause that's what this is all about, right? Who is the predator and who is the prey?

Dex

I'm bleeding out. I've seen it enough times to know.

Daredevil

I'm not interested in your opinon.

Dex

I've earned this, many times over. It's okay. You think she's dead?

Daredevil

I don't know. C'mon.

Dex

If she is, it all balances. Your friend, Fisk's wife... Scales settled. And I'm ready for judgement.

Daredevil

Oh, good for you.

Dex

You're not listening. That night you threw me off the roof, I was supposed to die. Four story. No one survives that.

Daredevil

And yet. Maybe that's the grand design.

Dex

You're getting it.

Daredevil

No, I'm not getting it. If she's dead, Vanessa... That's just murder.

Dex

Vanessa, Foggy--

Daredevil

Don't say his name. You don't get to say his name. Do you understand?

Dex

You--

Daredevil

Tell me you understand. Don't say his name.

Daredevil

We should be safe for now.

Dex

"Safe". What does that even mean? You know what happens if she dies?

Daredevil

Fisk turns this city upside-down and shakes it 'til he find us and kills us.

Dex

Me. He kills me.

Daredevil

Us. I was there. That is more than enough for Fisk.

It's open.

The fuck you doin' here, Foggy?!

Daredevil

I know someone who can help. A nurse.

Dex

Nurses, doctors, lawyers. Vigilantes, assassins. Killing people, saving people... Act like it makes a difference. Like it matters at all.

The hell is this?

Foggy

I was hoping you'd take that and, I don't know... Get outta here. I don't even know where, but...

Wait, wait, wait. So-- So you... You, you, uh, give me money?

Foggy

No, Ray, I already gave it to you. What I want is for you to start over with it. You got a second chance here!

Dex

It's not about them, it's about you. About me. Just people. And brother, we are who we are.

You know, those nights... We used to, uh... Crash in the living room, um... Well, you and Connor, with the, uh, sleeping bags and the, uh, flashlights, you know? I never really, uh, had a friend like that.

Foggy

I know.

Dex

We're all doing the same thing here. Acting something out, scratching some kind of itch. But the worst part... is when you think you got it beat. So you go "Oh, I outran it." And then you turn a corner, bam. There it is. Staring you right in the face. Only it's worse this time. And you know... it was always gonna be there.

Hey, hey, do me a favor, will you? Tell my brother to stay right where he's at. Alright? And you tell him that I told you to tell him that. That he ain't got nothing back here for him.

Foggy

He's got you.

C'mon, Foggy, you gotta go. Get outta here.

Dex

There's no escaping it.

Daredevil

You wanted one good deed, right? Some way to balance the scales?

Dex

Yeah.

Daredevil

Okay. Sure. I got it for you. But first, know this: I hate you for Foggy. I hate you for Father Lantom, for Agent Nadeem, and for every life you've wasted for no reason other than your twisted soul. Part of me wants to kill you. Part of me needs to forgive you.
