Wilson Fisk quotes from Daredevil: Born Again

Vanessa

I don't like watching everything fall apart.

Fisk

I respect that. You wanted to keep the peace. Sometimes, peace needs to be broken. Chaos must reign, just for a moment, to build a stronger order.

Fisk

You know, politics, it's… It's a different type of problem-solving. Most of it is new to me but some things, they remain unchanged. Find what a person wants and either withhold it or provide it, and they'll do anything.

Vanessa

Not tonight. You're asking New York's elite for money. Sure, they want influence, but they don't need it; it's like selling a busker to a billionaire. It's all just ego and vanity. By simply being there and asking them for money, you're giving them all they care about: reassurance of their supremacy.

Fisk

I can imagine that Vanessa would like for me to let you go.

Thank you... Thank you!

Fisk

But that's a difficult thing for me to do. You understand that, right? How we are... locked together. Our experience, shared. And when I was younger, smaller… I went up against men three times my size. Now, men who knew how to use their hands, they did so, often. And I learned that a simple tool, it can be a great equalizer.

Fisk

When I brought you over from your previous life, can you recall why I said I hired you?

Buck

I believe you called it my ability to think... asymmetrically.

Fisk

I'm not surprised you're here, Murdock.

Daredevil

I'm sorry for your loss, Wilson.

Fisk

Is that why you've come? To offer condolences?

Daredevil

You know how we tell ourselves this is about the city? It's about New York? I'm not so sure that's true anymore. Is it? This fight... It is poison. It destroys everything. The city, the... The people we love. Nobody wins. We have to end it, now. Because I am not gonna stop. I don't know how. And I don't think you do, either.

Fisk

You're not entirely incorrect.

Daredevil

So what would it take? For you to walk away?

Fisk

I'd ask the same of you.

Daredevil

You leave New York. I leave New York.

Fisk

There is nothing to give to me... Or take away...

Daredevil

Imagine if we had never met.

Fisk

No...

Daredevil

Imagine... Foggy. Vanessa.

Fisk

No...!

Daredevil

They would still be--

Fisk

NO!

Fisk

Hello, Miss Page. You have taken people from me. And out there, they believe that you're a hero. And yet I believe in order, and you are a criminal. Worse. You're the sidekick of a deranged vigilante. You, broken and deluded, you abet his crimes, for what? Love? HA!

Karen

You know, I've never seen you scared before. I kinda like it.

Fisk

Not fear. Order, Miss Page. Order.

Karen

No! No, no. No, you took it too far last night, and you know it! And this city knows it!

Fisk

You have one phone call. Choose it wisely.

Heather

I wanted to check on you... person-to-person. How are you, sir?

Fisk

I... I don't know. I haven't been asked that. I always... accepted love as a prison. I just never expected to be in it alone. Condolences are meaningless. Thoughts and prayers do nothing.

Heather

No one tells you the truth in times like this, which is... this is gonna hurt. And we don't know when, or if, this is going to end.

Matt

You and I both know who Daredevil is. He's the man who knows exactly what happened on the Northern Star. He knows exactly what happened in my apartment. And he knows exactly who the real criminal in this courtroom is.

Fisk

You are a fool.

Matt

No, I'm not. I am Daredevil.

Matt

[to his army] WE'RE BETTER THAN THIS! [to Fisk] Stay down, Fisk! Stay down!

Fisk

No! No, no! NO!

Matt

Listen. Listen to me, it's over. It's over for both of us. Take the deal.

Fisk

I will not.

Matt

You go to prison and you die locked away from her memory, or you do what you do and this whole thing starts over again. The poison. The fight. Death.

Fisk

This is your so-called retribution? It means nothing to me!

Matt

What a... What about grace?

Fisk

No, no, no, no! You are not allowed to offer that to me!

Matt

I believe you love this city, same as me. We have the opportunity to give it peace, even if we have none. That's grace.
