S2 E1Running with the Bull

SRSenator Roland Foulkes

Ah, that's what makes life so interesting and confounding.

SCSheriff Carl Daggett

What's that?

SRSenator Roland Foulkes

Variables, Sheriff. Variables.

S2 E2Sleeping Giants

[reading from pamphlet] Proper prisoner behavior consists fundamentally of the following: freedom from self-injury, absence of unhygienic acts, significant decrease in problematic behaviors, motivation to change, absence of destructive behaviors.

[in hospital] Everybody's been so nice here.

It's because we're not in Paulie, mother. You'll notice a difference in tone sometimes when people don't wish you were dead.

S2 E3Charlie Darwin

Sorry everything's cold, it takes a while to get it through all of the protocol.

HHollis

Strip-searched my hash browns, huh? Bunch of animals.

SCSheriff Carl Daggett

[about Daniel] That boy sees a pile of shit on the ground, he's gonna make every damn effort to step in it!

S2 E4Donald the Normal

PPeggy

[joining him in front of a painting] What do you think?

What do I think? Well, I think I have looked at this painting for so long in a in a book that somehow my brain has trivialized it. And, uh, now as I stand here in front of the real thing, I feel, if anything, disappointment.

PPeggy

Oh, that's too bad.

Well, not at the painting itself. More at my brain, I guess.

PPeggy

I think the brain's afraid of being in a state of constant wonder. It's for safety reasons or something.

I suppose it's inevitable.

PPeggy

Usually by the time we're four.

Then there's the the issue of great expectations.

PPeggy

Something the brain doesn't seem the least bit interested in protecting us from.

[chuckles] No.

PPeggy

Well, I think we should reinstate wonder, banish expectation.

I concur.

TTTed Talbot Jr.

Why does everything got to be so goddamn polite in this relationship?

Do you want me to start talking like you, Teddy? That make you happy?

FFlorine

Why on earth would you memorize Tobias Wolff's "Bullet in the Brain"?

PPeggy

It's a short story, Florine.

FFlorine

I don't care if it was a haiku. It was sad enough to read. It'd be torture to memorize.

No, it was it was calming, actually.

FFlorine

Okay. More please.

I don't know why, exactly. Well, it was it was during a period of my life where I was having some difficulties dealing with the passage of time, in a traditional sense. And since Mr. Wolff's short story deals partly with the bending of time, well, in memorizing it, or in taking the action of memorizing it, I too was able to bend time, in a way. Or at least... experience... it differently.

PPeggy

Nicely defended, Donald.
