[There is a knock at Jack's house. Jack opens the door and Faraday bursts in with Miles]
Hey Jack, how did you get back? How did you do it, how did you get back to the island?
Dan, wow....where have you been?
I've been at Dharma Headquarters in Ann Arbor, I was doing some research, but whats more important right now, how did you get back here, to 1977?
[Jack looks over at Miles]
Hey don't look at me, I just carried his luggage.
We were on a plane and then...
And who told you to get on that plane?
As a matter of fact Daniel it was your mother.
[Dan nods]
And how did she convince you Jack? Did she tell you it was your destiny?
Yeah thats exactly what she said.
Well I got some bad news for you Jack, you don't belong here at all. She was wrong.
[Sawyer holds a meeting to discuss what the survivors should do next before their true identities are discovered by Dharma. Suddenly there's a knock at the front door]
Hold your horses, I'll be right there.
[Sawyer picks up and cocks a handgun, placing it behind his back as he opens the door which he opens to reveal Dan and Miles]
Welcome to the meeting Twitchy. Good to see you again. Come in, pound cake's in the kitchen, help yourself to the punch.
[Dan enters the house. Miles starts to follow. Saywer pulls him to one side]

[In flashback to mid-late 2004, Faraday is being looked after by a carer in his flat while he is watching footage informing the public that the wreckage of Flight 815 has been found in the Sunda Trench]

[There is a knock at the door, Dan's carer goes to answer, Charles Widmore enters]

Dan you have a visitor.
[Faraday gets out of his chair and in a confused manner he shakes Widmore's hand]
[Almost in tears] Er...Hello. I'm sorry sir I don't remember...I have a condition that effects my memory and...
Don't be embarrased Daniel, weve never met. I'm Charles Widmore.
Charles Widmore? Charles Widmore from my research grant?
Its nice to meet you at last, I kept meaning to come and see you but I got a bit...take a seat.
[They sit]
I just want you to know that I tested it on myself first. I would never hurt Teresa.
It's alright Daniel I'm not here because of that. I want to offer you a new opportunity.
[Dan stares back at the footage of the wreckage of 815 on the TV and starts to cry]
Daniel. Whats making you so upset?
It's this plane crash. All those poor people...and their families. They're dead!
What if I was to tell you Daniel that they're not dead. What if I told you that that plane they have found is an elaborate and expensive hoax.
I know Daniel because I'm the one that put it there.
Why would you tell me that?
I told you Daniel because come tomorrow you're not likely to remember.
[The pair continue to discuss the crash and Widmore offers Dan the chance to go to the island on the frighter]
[Juliet and Sawyer are in their home packing in preparation to leave Dharma for the beach, Juliet packs and is slient. Sawyer stops her]
You called it the minute those yahoos got here. I should have listened to you. You can say I told you so!
Maybe after we get to the beach.
Hey. You still got my back?
[Faraday enters The Others/The Hostiles camp alone while Jack and Kate watch from behind some trees]
Nobody move. I only want to speak to Eloise. Where is Eloise? Come on! Where is she?
[Faraday points his handgun to Richards head]
She's not here right now. Do we know each other?
It doesn't matter. I need you to take me to Eloise.
I already told you that she's not here, so why don't we just...
[Richard looks confused]
The Hydrogen Bomb I told your people to bury. Where is it?
Listen to me, lower your gun and we'll talk ok? Nobody has to get hurt here. Just put the gun down.
I'm going to give you three seconds...One...
[A gun goes off. Faraday looks down - He's been shot. Richard drops the mug he was holding and heads foward learning over a dying Faraday. As Dan falls it is revealed that he has been shot by his mother Eloise]
He wasn't going to shoot me, Eloise.
[A dying Faraday looks up at his young mother]
You knew... that's why you sent me back here... You knew!
I'm your.. son. [Faraday dies.]
Daniel, the real Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on an island--a special island with unique scientific properties. I want to send you to the Island. It will further your research, show you things you'd never dream of. But more importantly, it will heal you, Daniel--your mind, your memory.

And this containment--the place they built over it--I believe you called it "the Hatch." The Swan hatch? Because of this one accident, these people are gonna spend the next 20 years keeping that energy at bay... by pressing a button... a button that your friend Desmond will one day fail to push, and that will cause your plane--Oceanic 815--to crash on this Island. And because your plane crashed, a freighter will be sent to this Island--a freighter I was on and Charlotte was on and so forth. This entire chain of events--it's gonna start happening this afternoon. But... we can change that. I studied relativistic physics my entire life. One thing emerged over and over--can't change the past. Can't do it. Whatever happened, happened. All right? But then I finally realized... I had been spending so much time focused on the constants, I forgot about the variables. Do you know what the variables in these equations are, Jack?
Us. We're the variables. People. We think. We reason. We make choices. We have free will. We can change our destiny. I think I can negate that energy under the Swan. I think I can destroy it. If I can, then that hatch will never be built, and your plane... your plane will land, just like it's supposed to, in Los Angeles.
And just how exactly do you plan on destroying this energy?
I'm gonna detonate a hydrogen bomb.
