Lyra quotes from Fullmetal Alchemist

Lyra

But you are an Alchemist of the state! How can you defy the military you serve?

Edward

Because I never sold my soul to them.

Greed

Where is the old lady?

The reason you came here is simple. These are the grounds that witnessed your creation.

Greed

Smart girl.

Greed

Those are..

Your bones.

Greed

Hey, where the hell did you get those? And what did Dante tell you?

Lady Dante is over there.

Greed

What is going on here? Who are you? How could you have known? How could you have made that array? You're just a damn kid. Could it be?!

Edward

Your brother turned his body into a transmutation circle to make the Philosopher's Stone inside him. He was taking in the souls of all the Ishbalans dying in the war. And that is why your arm can deconstruct things.

Scar

That's correct, because it is part of the transmutation. It is looking for ingredients--souls for the stone.

Edward

And that is why it reacted with the stone fragments Marcoh made. It senses the lives inside and sucks them in.

Scar

But it hasn't been enough. In order to complete it, I still need more lives.

Edward

You think that gives you the right to use Rose as some charismatic puppet while you sacrifice her people for your stone?

Calm down. You have misunderstood his tactics. Scar isn't going to kill anyone from Lior.

Edward

Tell me Lyra, what the hell are you doing here anyway?

After Dante was murdered, I didn't know what else to do. I went searching for a place where I could do good with alchemy. Here, I learned about Scar and his plans for justice. You don't have to worry Ed. Right before the attack, the people of Lior will escape through a secret passage below the church. When the military invades, Scar will active the array.

Edward

Soldiers have lives just like us. I don't care what you think of the military, they are still...[Rose appears]

Scar

You have no idea what the soldiers have done to the people of Lior.

Edward

Like what? What did they do to Rose?

Scar

A group of them carried her to their base. Whatever they did to her there, it was traumatic enough that she couldn't speak when she returned. My sympathy will not be spent on soldiers, neither should yours.

Edward

Really classy scar, using a bereaved mute woman as you mouthpiece.

She is not just any woman. She is our divine holy mother.

She has given us all the courage to stand on our own, without the help of a corrupt military or false prophets like Leto.

Edward

Listen, as long as your taking orders from someone else, nothing will ever change.

You must understand Ed, not everyone can be as strong as you.

Edward

Are you wearing perfume Lyra?

Yea, bathing is a real luxury around here.

Edward

Yes, well the smell is making me noxious.

What do you intend to do about Scar?

Edward

Something, I sure as hell can't let him go through with this.

I agree. Despite Scar's best intentions, there will be civilian casualties. And if he fails to transmute the soldiers into the stone, well that's a risk we can't take.

Edward

I don't understand. I thought you were one of Scar's biggest fans. My only true allegiance is to the people of Lior.

My only true allegiance is to the people of Lior.

Edward

Lyra, I need your help. I have to send a letter.

Scar

Do not be deceived. They are only trying to invoke us into making the first attack. Stick to the plan at all costs, and we shall be victorious. (to Rose)Now I need you to lead the people through the escape route. I will stand behind it and extinguish the parasite that has been tormenting your city. (to Ed)You have an obligation to get them out of here safely.

Edward

Yea, yea, I know. Well I suppose we better get going then, huh?

Aren't you worried about Scar's plan?

Edward

If Mustang got my letter, the military won't step foot in here. Without his components, Scar won't be able to do a thing. He will never succeed Rose. The only thing left for you to do is get out of here while there is still time. It's over; Lior will fall. You can blame me if you want. I should have tried harder to find a way to stop their madness.

Edward

Keep going. The next city is not too much farther.

Rose

We have to go now.

Edward

Do the best you can. I have to go track down Scar and turn him in, wherever he is.

You are going to hand him over to the military?

Edward

It's the only way the people of Lior are clear of any blame. I have no choice.

Rose

Please don't do it. It is not right.

Edward

But you understand why I have to.

Rose

Equivalency, Right.

Edward

I don't know. Maybe there is something else I can do. I'm not sure what but maybe I can figure out how to use what happened with the Fuehrer's secretary and possible persuade the colonel to, I don't know maybe sit down and negotiate or something. Please, don't count on me to protect you, keep going before their troops figure out you're here. The farther you get from them now, the better.

Of course. We know the stakes of being caught. We'll disperse a handful of us in each town we pass, blending in with the population.

Edward

They're all counting on you now Lyra, and you.

Rose

I'll see you, Ed.

Edward

No, this time it's goodbye...
