My lord, I have received a report that leads me to conclude that there may be a grave complication with one of our assets.
Assets?
Yes sir, a clone trooper has executed one of the Jedi Generals.
And you believe this is indicative of our programming?
I do my lord, but I cannot be certain.
It is pertinent that we ascertain if this is an isolated event - a failure of this particular clone's programming, otherwise my plans may be ruined. Seize the clone immediately.
Yes, my master.
General Skywalker, thank you. Thank you for trusting me. Now, have you come without troops?
We have.
Put down your weapons, then!
I don't think so, Fives.
Please, sir, please. I'm unarmed.
(after Anakin sheaths his lightsaber) Alright, I'm putting my pistols down. (sets pistols down)
What are we here for, Fives?
I need your help.
I know you do. We know you're not well. It's been rough for you these past couple days.
I'm not crazy! Please, please--just, just--hear what I have to say.
We're here to help you, Fives, just come with us. Let us take you back to the temple. (Fives suddenly traps them in a ray shield) No!!
I just need you to listen to me, please!
I'm not really sure we have any other choice!
I was framed, because I know the truth! The truth about a plot, a massive deception.
By whom?
Well, there's a sinister plot in the works against the Jedi! I have proof of it! I can prove that everything I know is true beyond the shadow of a doubt!
Show me the evidence!
The evidence, is, (points to his head) in here, it's--it's in here, it's in all of us, every clone!
What is it?
Organic chips, built into our genetic code to make us do whatever someone wants, even kill the Jedi! It's all in here!
Let's just get you some help first, then we can review everything. You'll be okay, Fives. We'll sort this out.
AH, YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME!!!!!
Fives, we are listening to you. We only want to help.
How do I know you're not tricking me? How do I know it won't be a trap!? The chancellor will try to kill me! I promise you that!
The Chancellor?
He's in on it! I don't know to what extent, but I know he orchestrated much of this. He told me in the medical bay!
He told you, when you tried to assassinate him!? You have gone too far, Fives, the Chancellor is incapable of what you claim.
He is! I swear to you, General, you have no idea--
(come out of shadows with shock troopers) Stand down, soldier! Stand down! Get on your knees!
No, no, no! Stay back! (looks at Rex's gun)
Don't do it! Don't do it, soldier!
GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!!!!!!! (grabs and aims pistol)
Fives, no!
(Fives gets shot and falls)
Fives! Fives! Fives...
Get this ray shield off! (a soldier shoots the ray shield; Rex attends to Fives)
Fives, brother. (to shock troopers) Call for help, we need a medic!
Rex.
Fives.
This, it's...bigger than any of us. Than anything I could have imagined. I never meant to....I only wanted to do my duty. (begins dying)
Brother, Fives. Stay with me, Fives. Fives!
The mission....the nightmares...they're...finally...over.... (dies in Rex's arms)
Fives, no, Fives, come on, Fives. Don't go, stay with me, stay with me, Fives. Fives! Don't go. No. Oh, no. [Commander Fox and his shock troopers remove their helmets and circle around him and Anakin]
Our plan has gone undiscovered, Master. The clone in question is now dead, and the Jedi still suspect nothing.
Good. Destroy all evidence. When the time comes, no one will be able to stop our plan to execute Order 66. (laughs maniacally)
Clovis, what is going on?
I didn't want this to happen.
Why don't you tell her what you did want and how you got it?
Dooku?
Hasn't she joined our cause? Clovis tells me of how instrumental you were to his rise to power.
If I had known...
Either you are with us, or against us. Arrest her! (his guards take her)
We can't do this Dooku, the Separatist Senate would never approve.
(Padme takes his gun and points it at Dooku) Hey!
(Dooku uses the force and makes Padme point it at Bec) No! No! NOOOO!!!! (she shoots him)
(gasps) No!
Are you insane?! this wasn't part of the deal!
What deal, what is going on?
He's given us the banks. Gone are our debts, and gone is any credit for the Republic.
All this time, your idealism, just lies!
You wouldn't understand.
Everyone has a price, my dear.
Lord Tyranus, the Republic fleet will arrive shortly.
Very good my lord, the entire operation has been orchestrated to make it look like Clovis was behind everything.
And when this is over, the Republic will place the banks under the control of the Supreme Chancellor. (laughs maniacally)
Tell me, why are the Jedi looking for Master Sifo-Dyas? What trail are they following?
If there is a trail, it is unknown to me.
Retrace your steps, find this loose end, and eliminate them.
Yes, my master.
This is not the first time you have proven to be clumsy, Lord Tyranus. (begins force choking Dooku through the hologram) You know the price of failure (ends hologram, Dooku can breathe again).
Dooku! For once, you came to do your own dirty work.
Sometimes, things are just that important.
You have no business left with the Pykes, Tyranus.
(surprised) Tyranus? You are the man called Tyranus?
I told you everything you needed to know on Geonosis all those years ago, Kenobi. You should've joined me. Sifo Dyas understood. He saw the future. That is why he helped me.
You lie. Minister Lom, if you’re going to help us, now is the time.
Kill Tyranus! (he and his men open fire on the Count)
No, wrong this is. Lies, these images are! Lies! (points to Adi Gallia) Dead, I know you to be! On Naboo, died you did, Qui-Gon. (points to Dooku) And a traitor you are, my old Padawan.
(Mournful sound)
Careful we must be. Deserted this planet was, long ago, after many wars.
Again, leave you I must my friend. Guard this ship you will. If return I do not by three nightfalls, take the ship to Coruscant you shall. Tell them where I am you shall.
(Responsive sounds)
We are the Sith.
Afraid of thee, I am not.
We shall see.
(Yoda stands in the Temple courtyard looking at the Great Tree, Mace Windu and Obi Wan Kenobi approach him)
The Council has assembled. They are eager to hear your report.
Afraid, not much there is to say of my journey
(Mace and Obi Wan look at each other)
So nothing significant happened to you out there?
Yes... and no. To the end, we are coming now.
Did your journey give you insight on how to win the war?
No longer certain that one ever does win a war, I am. For in fighting the battles, the bloodshed, already lost we have. Yet open to us a path remains, that unknown to the Sith is. Through this path victory we may yet find. Not victory in the Clone Wars, but victory for all time.
(all three Jedi depart for the Council, camera pans to a closeup of three leaves on the Great Tree, end)
Fives, Echo, and before that, Hevy. There's so many troopers...gone.
Yeah, regular folk don't understand. Sometimes in war, it's hard to be the one that survives.
Experimental unit Clone Force 99, they're defective clones with, uh...desirable mutations.
99, eh? Nice touch.
They call themselves "The Bad Batch."
