[The Desert Wolf has tied Deaton to a chair, and his head is bleeding from an injury he sustained in the struggle]
I heard an interesting rumor, Doctor... I heard that my daughter is still alive. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?
[plays dumb] A daughter? I don't know anything about a daughter.
Well, I hope you're telling the truth... Because if she is still alive, I'm just gonna have to kill her again.
[voiceover monologue] My asthma is back. I'm not sure how, but it came back. Just as bad as it used to be. So now, I keep my inhaler on me all of the time, just like I used to. And it's been five days. We haven't seen any new chimeras, and we haven't seen the Dread Doctors. We all go to school, pretending like nothing's happened, but everyone seems to know. You just walk down the halls, and no one's smiling. No one's laughing. You get the feeling that everyone can sense that something's coming. They just don't know what it is, or how bad it's going to be. Every time I feel like I should do something about it, I find myself reaching for my inhaler, like I'm going to take a hit of it and, and come up with some brilliant solution on how to save everyone. But I don't know what to do. I don't think anyone does. Maybe that's why no one's really talking to each other. Sometimes, we don't even notice each other... But I think some of us are okay with that. Because not talking makes it easier to keep secrets. And I don't know if anyone's really lying about things. Maybe it's more like lies of omission.
[voiceover monologue] Maybe the worst lie is to Stilinski, because no one's told him about Parrish yet. Then again, no one's told Parrish, either. He doesn't seem to remember taking the bodies, and we think that he's only really dangerous if you try to get in his way. If Stilinski knew, he'd definitely get in his way. So, Lydia and Stiles are trying to find the bodies, which means finding the Nemeton. They're driving around, searching all of the woods... But the last time we found this thing, three of us had almost drowned in ice water. We're not the only ones looking for chimeras. Stilinski's got everyone looking for the next target, questioning everyone who's a genetic chimera, anyone who's got two sets of DNA. No one really knows what they're looking for. Some think it's a serial killer. Some probably know it's worse.
The two chimeras that we know about, Hayden and Corey? They're both doing okay. Actually, better than okay. They're healing faster and getting stronger. They don't need our help... and I don't think they'd want it anyway. I still haven't heard from Kira, and I'm getting more and more worried about Deaton. I know something's coming, and all I can think about is... How good am I going to be if I can't even breathe?
You sound like you're trying to apologize.
You came back looking for an Alpha. I guess I'm sorry that you found me.
You still want to be part of the pack?
Scott, I'm with you. For better or worse.
[sighs] Trust me. There's gonna be worse.
[smiles] I'm counting on it.
Hang on-- if the Nemeton's covered in bodies, shouldn't you be able to find them?
Yes, you! That's what you do. You're the banshee! You find the bodies.
Well, the banshee's having an off-day, so how about we talk to Parrish?
[Beth, a recently discovered chimera, just lost a fingernail and began to bleed black blood before running out of class. Malia, worried, rushes after her, but is stopped by Natalie Martin]
Malia, if you need to use the restroom, it's one at a time. And, if you're planning on leaving class, I'd consider your recent drop in grades.
[suspiciously] You know what's going on, don't you?
I know that I'd like to see you get through senior year with passing grades.
[Malia, annoyed, flashes her blue eyes at Natalie]
I think you need to focus more on your schoolwork. All of you.
[Liam and Hayden have just stopped at Sinema to get her paycheck before they attempt to leave town, and Hayden has just knelt in front of the safe]
You know the combination?
Yeah. Phil's an idiot. My sister's going to go out of her mind worrying about me.
We'll come up with something to tell her.
Wherever's far enough, I guess.
What if I turn out like Tracy? What if I hurt you?
[smiles] I'll get over it.
[Lydia and Parrish have just found the Nemeton, and he is freaking out about what he has just learned about what he's been doing during his blackouts]
I need to call it in. No, I need to turn myself in!
I don't think that's such a good idea...
You just told me I'm the one taking the bodies! I've attacked other law enforcement officers. That's a criminal offense! I shouldn't even be near you.
[gives him a look] I'm not afraid of you.
Whatever's happening seems to only happen when there's a body. Other than that, you're still a pretty nice guy. And you're a pretty good deputy.
I'm a very good deputy, and I'd like to stay that way. Flipping over Jeeps and attacking colleagues doesn't exactly fit with "protect and serve." I'm covering up the bodies of murdered teenagers!
You're not covering them up...
[Lydia is suddenly struck by a realization]
It's the same thing we asked Stilinski to do with Tracy. You're not covering up bodies... You're covering up the supernatural.
Maybe you're keeping the secret safe. Maybe that's part of what you do.
You're not just a deputy. And you aren't one of the bad guys.
[Liam, Theo, and Hayden are on their way to the animal clinic after the Dread Doctors gave Hayden an overdose of modified mercury]
I don't know. When it's wolfsbane poisoning, you burn it out. But I don't know anything about mercury. Especially a kind that's probably been altered by them.
The problem is she's not really like us, Liam. None of them are. They're more like... like cheap knockoffs. She might not be as strong as we are, or heal like we do. She's not a real werewolf.
[gets an idea] What if we turn her into one?
Nice idea. Except you and I can't do that.
[Stiles has just arrived at the animal clinic to find Scott waiting for him in the pouring rain. He's holding the wrench Stiles used to fight Donovan, and Stiles' eyes widen when he sees it]
[Scott is shocked to learn that it really is Stiles' wrench]
This is yours? Why didn't you tell me?
No, but why didn't you tell me when it happened?
You killed him? You killed Donovan?
Well, he was going to kill my dad. Huh, was I supposed to just let him?
You weren't supposed to do this! None of us are.
You think I had a choice?
Yeah, well, I can't do what you can, Scott. I know you probably wouldn't have done it. You probably would've just figured something out, right?
[angrily] Yeah, because you're Scott McCall! You're the True Alpha! Guess what? All of us can't be True Alphas. Some of us have to make mistakes! Some of us have to get out hands a little bloody sometimes. Some of us are human!
[Scott, who didn't believe Theo's story until this point, takes Stiles' comment as confirmation that he was telling the truth and looks horrified]
Scott, he was going to kill my dad!
But the way that it happened... There's a point when it's... it's not self-defense anymore.
[confused] What are you even talking about? I didn't have a choice, Scott! You don't even believe me, do you?
Okay. Alright, so... So, believe me, then. Scott, say you believe me. Say it. Say you believe me.
Stiles, we can't kill people that we're trying to save...
Do you believe that? Well, what do I do about this? What do you want me to do? Okay, just be... Scott, just tell me how to fix this, alright? Please, just tell me. What do you want me to do?
[sighs] Don't worry about Malia or Lydia. We'll find them. Maybe... Maybe you should talk to your dad.
All those emotions mixed with the supermoon? Tonight isn't going to be good.
We need help, and I don't mean restraints or chains. I mean Malia, Stiles, Lydia... You need your pack, Scott.
I'm not so sure I have one anymore.
