[Devon Lee appears at the Cobra Kai dojo the day after the Topanga Karate takeover]
What are you doing here? I thought you quit.
DLDevon Lee
You beat me on the mat, but I only lose if I give up.
[approaches with Kim Da-eun] Miss Lee, why don't you go check in with the receptionist. She'll set you up with a pass in case you want to train after hours.
LLee
Oh. [looks at Tory] I definitely will. [walks off]
I have to hand it to you. Miss Lee reached out after class yesterday, asked if she could join the flagship dojo. Apparently, she wants to learn more from you. I'm very proud of you.
She failed the test. She ran away.
The test was not for her. It was for you. I wanted to see how much strength you had in your heart to accomplish what you need to do.
Something greater than you could ever imagine.
[Daniel and Amanda return to the old Miyagi-do dojo]
What are we doing here? I thought we were heading home.
Uh, we just have to make a quick stop. Come on.
[they enter the house, but when they go towards Mr Miyagi's old room]
Amanda, I don't go in there.
Hey. It's okay. You're hurting right now. But I want you to heal. And I'm right here. [they enter the long-closed room]
[soaks up the environment, looking at all of Mr Miyagi's things, including his old picture of Yukie and his painting instructions to Daniel] It's like a time capsule in here.
The night before we got married, I was so nervous. I came here to see Mr. Miyagi. He sat me down, poured me a cup of tea... and some sake. And we talked about you. He loved you so much, Daniel. He said to me, "Amanda-san, in life, always easier to hide head in sand." He told me you could be a bit of a handful sometimes. That you would always fight for what you believed in. And there was nothing you believed in more than your family and friends. And what I believe in now is standing up to Terry Silver. It's the right thing to do for you, for me, for our family. Sorry it took me so long to realize.
That means the world to me, Amanda. But what if standing up to Silver just makes things worse again? Every time I try to fight for what's right, somebody gets hurt. I can't fail these kids again.
You didn't fail me. [Daniel sees Robby and Sam at the door] Sam and my dad told me what was going on. You know, when you first met me, I was a messed-up kid. But you gave me a job. And a home. And a purpose. You can't just give up.
Robby, the things I did, juvie, I was... I was just trying to help you.
No, I'm... I'm sorry. I should've listened to you about Cobra Kai. But I didn't understand until I started mentoring someone myself. Now Silver's got a hold on this kid. There's some others in there I care about too, and, uh, we need to stop Cobra Kai. But we can't do it without you. Sensei.
Dad, not everyone has someone like you to protect them and teach them. It's time that all of us join this fight.
[they go to the back garden and see the Miyagi-do and Eagle Fang students, plus Amanda, Johnny and Chozen]
You're not alone anymore. So what do you say, Dad? Will you fight?
[the crowd bows to Daniel. He joins Johnny and Chozen, and they all bow to the students]
[Silver summons Payne to his office after a joint sparring session with Sensei Odell alongside Kyler doesn't go as expected]
Kenny, Kenny, Kenny... Sit down. Your father, he's in the army, right? I bet he's a strong leader. Someone you listen to. What happened after he was deployed? Who filled that role?
My brother was the leader of the house until...
Right, right. The one in juvie. And after he went in, who did you follow?
And now you're following Mr. Park.
Isn't that the point of the exercise?
I spent a lot of my life listening to others. My father. My captain. My best friend.
Yes. But it was only after I listened to my own instincts that I reached my potential. I've seen the best fighters in the Valley. Keene. Moskowitz. Diaz. I believe you have more potential than any of 'em. If you're ready to be a leader.
Okay. Look, I hear you. Okay? But the exercise... You said Kyler was the leader.
Did I? Or did you assume that?
So what do you want me to do?
I want you to stop asking me or anyone else that question.
[The Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang students have successfully figured a team defense for Chozen's Yanbaru Kuima egg drill and he gives up]
This is what we have that Cobra Kai does not. Their movement mile wide, but only inch deep. But our movement, inch wide, but mile deep. Now that you have learned to work together, I will teach you how to master your defense. Yoshi! [students stand at attention] Kiotsuke! [students bow] Hai.
[In prison, Kreese details the story of how, back in 1980, Silver once attracted him to have Cobra Kai enter the Sekai Taikai international karate competition]
Silver listened to me back then. So we didn't expand. I wanted to focus on you.
Don't make this about me.
Hold on. What are you saying? Silver's gonna enter another tournament?
Not just another tournament. The biggest tournament in the world. And if he wins... Cobra Kai goes global. Silver has taken the Valley. Now he's putting together the pieces to take everything else. You may have found the will to fight, but you're outmatched and outnumbered. Silver is on the verge of getting what he's always wanted. Well, I think I've held up my end of the deal. The lawyer's number? [Daniel gives him a piece of paper, revealing "NO MERCY, MOTHERFUCKER!" instead of a number. Kreese is wide-eyed at the doublecross] You actually think you're gonna be able to take him down without me? He's gonna make mincemeat out of you.
Enjoy rotting in your cell. [they leave]
[Terry is fuming that Daniel and company crashed the Sekai Taikai selection committee's visit to the Cobra Kai dojo]
I agreed to train your students under the condition you would pave the way for my family's teachings to emerge from the shadows. And yet, your petty rivalry is standing in the way.
I have no rivalry with them. They're beaten. This is a last, desperate gasp of breath.
Then we must suffocate them. I will continue to train your students so they are fully prepared. And might I suggest next time, you are prepared too.
[in presenting the Eagle Fang training dojo to the Sekai Taikai selection committee, chairman Gunther Braun is stunned that fragments of a watermelon Sam kicked are splattered on him]
Uh, hey, look, man, I'm sure this probably all seems weird to you, but sometimes you have to train outside the box to get to another level. Some people use the latest high-tech junk to get there, and some people need to run up a mountain in the snow and yell.
GBGunther Braun
DRAGO!! Rocky Balboa is my hero.
BBraun
His victory over Russia effectively restored my fractured homeland.
BBraun
I do. Show me more.
[After another session, Tory is asked to stay behind. The staff rolls out a target figure]
This is your enemy. Destroy it.
[notices plates] It's solid stone. I'll break my hand.
It will heal in time for the tournament.
This is crazy. I'm going home. [the three senseis who brought the figure block her]
You will go home when the lesson is over. [Tory starts punching the face plate and her fist hurts] Not hard enough. To break it, you must use all your power. [mocks with each punch] Are you even trying? [Tory repeatedly tries] Something is holding you back.
It's the boy, isn't it? [Tory gasps] You act strong, but inside you're soft.
Your feelings have made you weak.
[directly faces her] You care more about this boy than your own dojo!
I broke up with him because of this dojo, you bitch! [tries to hit Da-eun, who steps aside and Tory powerfully breaks the face plate to enormous pain]
That must have been a hard decision. But you made the right choice. Let's hope you keep making them. [walks away]
[looks down at her] Lesson over.
[Daniel learns from Johnny that Chozen slipped a bit about Kumiko]
Ah, I was hoping he did not say anything. I know what she means to you. Did not want to make you uncomfortable.
Chozen, I had no idea you had feelings for her.
When, uh, Kumiko and I were children, we would play in the ruins of King Shō Hashi Castle. I would hide, and she would always find me. After my disgrace in village... I tried to hide from everything. But Kumiko find me again. And her kindness brought me back.
She's something special, all right.
Does she know how you feel?
No. No! No. How I treated her, what I did to her... Unforgivable.
You can't keep punishing yourself. You've done all you can to make up for what you did back then, and Kumiko knows that. Look, she's the reason you're here. She went after you. Maybe now it's your turn to go after her.
Thank you, Daniel-san. You're welcome, my friend. [dance music plays]
Come on. Let's hit that dance floor. You were once the life of the party in Okinawa!
[Sam, Eli/Hawk, Demitri, Bert, and Miguel crash Stingray's DnD session to ask him to come clean about his deal with Terry Silver, but he's too scared to do it]
Okay, so I've been working on this new D&D campaign...
I don't think we have time for this.
EEli
Wait a minute. What happens in the campaign, Stingray?
[picks up a piece and places in the field] Okay, so, once upon a time, there was a Dwarven monk, and he was a member of the most badass guild in all the land. Uh, he was banished for a time. You know, typical PC crap. But, um, once he paid his penance, he returned. Only by then, the guild was under new leadership. And the monk was denied reentry into the guild. And quite unceremoniously, might I add. What did the monk do? The monk, he made a pact with a silver-haired king who would usurp the leader. [places another piece near the monk piece] And it was early one morning, before any of the warriors had arrived, that the king struck the monk down. Again, and again, and again. It was then that they framed the leader for the assault, and the leader was put in chains, and the silver-haired king took over the guild.
DDemitri
And you were... The Dwarven monk was let back into the guild?
EEli
Yeah. With benefits.
Aye. With benefits, yeah.
So why can't he just tell everyone what really happened?
Because he doesn't want to lose his benefits.
No! No. I would... The-The monk would give it all back if he could, but the-the silver-haired king, you know, he... He almost killed the monk. He could have killed him. And why? To get power. So, yeah, the monk fears what that king would do to keep that power. I think the monk just... The monk just wanted reentry into the guild because he thought that he could be like a... Like a proud and noble warrior. Just like you, Hawk, Samantha, all you guys. But he's neither proud nor noble. Definitely not a warrior. He just sits around playing with them all day. The monk's just scared. I just can't. I'm sorry.
That's great. Thanks for nothing. [walks out]
[Daniel attempts to dissuade Johnny, Chozen, and Mike Barnes from confronting Silver at his dojo head-on while drunk]
MBMike Barnes
This guy destroyed my world! What do you want me to do, just sit here and take it like a bitch? I'm gonna go over there and beat the living shit out of him!
[approaches Barnes] I like the way this guy thinks.
The bad boy's right, man. Silver's been screwing us for too long. He kicked your ass, he kicked my ass. It was a sucker kick in my case, but still, it's way past time for some payback.
BBarnes
THAT'S what I'm talking about!
All right, Chozen, Chozen, help me out here. This is crazy.
BBarnes
YES! I'm driving. [heads over to the driver's seat of the limo]
No, no, no, you guys. You're out of your fucking minds!
Four of us. One of him. Tonight, we cut off head of snake. [laughs and boards the limo]
[Johnny is about to board the limo, but Daniel stops him]
Johnny, Johnny, listen. We're all drunk. And judging by the size of his pupils, Barnes is on something even stronger. Okay? This is a terrible idea.
Yeah, it is. Which is why Silver's never gonna see it coming. It's happening, LaRusso. Saddle up. [smacks Daniel lightly] It's time to put Pandora back in her box. [clumsily boards the limo]
No, we're not gonna ride for justice like some party limo posse.
BBarnes
Suit yourself. [drives off and leaves Daniel stranded]
Mike? Mike! Are you kidding me?!
You promised to make my grandfather's dream a reality. To bring his karate to the world. And by gaining acceptance into the Sekai Taikai, you're on the verge of fulfilling that promise. And yet your rivalries here remain a concern.
I share your concern, but I'm not worried. We'll send them a message well before the tournament.
And the content of this message?
Stay the fuck out of our way, or someone will get hurt.
[Terry Silver addresses both Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang students, Daniel, Amanda, and Carmen, after a clip of him and Tory is uploaded on YouTube]
You think I'm the only one who's willing to go to these lengths? Their senseis broke into my home tonight. My home! Attacked me, unprovoked! But here I am. The only man left standing. They think they're entitled to victory because their way is "right" and our way is "wrong." But that's not how it works. There are no morals to the story, no happy endings. Life isn't a fairy tale. It's a competitive sport. Right and wrong, there's no such thing. There are only winners... and losers. Cobra Kai builds winners, because we're willing to do whatever it takes to come out on top.
