[The Technicians stare at him, unmoving] "Technicians." An appropriate name for cold, unfeeling monsters. You're gonna let me bleed to death? Fix me now.

No. [The Technicians begin approaching Angstrom. He uses his remaining arm to attempt to open a portal, but is stopped by the implants in his head, causing him to grunt] Promises were made, Angstrom Levy, and we delivered on ours.

Good. Now while I have your attention, I wanna thank you Mark. Really. Y'know, it's not often I get to cut loose like this. Usually, there are so many mission parameters. So many things not to destroy. People not to kill. But for whatever reason, and I don’t really care why, I was ordered to take control of Earth by any means necessary. You did something to piss us off and I thank you for it. This, has been an immense joy.

I don't care how strong you are. I don't care how fast you are. I can see the future. You don't live to see tomorrow.

[laughs] After all I’ve done, after all this, you still think you can threaten me? I dare say, child, you are starting to impress me. Do your worst!

[Snatching a distracted Mark and slamming him over his knee] PAY...ATTENTION! [whispering in Mark's ear] I am so lonely. All the other Viltrumites are scared of me. No one talks to me. No one wants to be my friend; they think I am unstable. They send me from planet to planet committing atrocities in their name. And as I get better at it, they fear me more and more. I am a victim of my own success. Conquest. I don’t even get a real name - only a purpose. I am capable of so much more, and no one sees it. Some days, I feel so alone I could cry, but I don't. I never do. Because what would be the point? Not a single person in the entire universe would care. [tense pause as Mark gasps, choked] Take it to your grave.

Jerk... [collapses]

[gasping in astonishment] Eve... how...?

(climbs back to his feet) This time... this time I'll make sure she's dead…

DON'T TOUCH HER! [floors Conquest with a punch to the face, then keeps delivering more until Conquest catches one]

Conquest

Got more than enough fight left in me for you, boy! (crushes Mark's hand, causing Mark to scream in pain) See? More than enough.

Not enough! Not nearly! (starts savagely headbutting Conquest) Is this what you wanted?! You enjoying yourself?! Still having FUN?! ANSWER ME!

I take... the good with the bad.

We've lost so many friends these past few weeks and there's so much still to do that it seems strange to pause and gather for a moment like this. But isn't that why we fight? To save or honor even a single life? Rex would tell me to shut up and get to the point, but I know that's what he believed. He was always so confident but also honest about his failings, so sure of himself but the first to confess fear. He was everything I wanted and still want to be. To honor my friend and everything he meant to me, I am changing my name from Rudy to Rex, so that much of him, at least, will survive. I only hope that I can live up to his courage and sacrifice. He will be deeply missed.

When you know someone for so long, they're always the same to you. It's hard to let them change or mature, but Rex... he had changed so much. I wish I had spent more time with him.
