Charles Darwin and Nathaniel Essex in “Descent”

You've caught me in good health and high spirits, Dr. Essex. We are all most eager to hear of your discoveries.

And so you shall, gentlemen. Please, step this way. As you know, my interest lies not in a gradual mutations that occur over millennia. But, in a leaps that manifest themselves in a single generation. Gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to the men of tomorrow. Mr. Fuente. [Mr. Fuente demonstrates his electro powers] You will, no doubt, recognize the electroscope the device for demonstrating the effect of an electromagnetic charge. [Grins at them, all of them are glaring at his work and he's thinking] Mr. Flannery, if you please.

Dr. Essex, I am speechless. I came today expecting some minor breakthrough and biology, and instead... you insult these learned men with parlor tricks and quackery!

But- uh but...

Now, if you'll excuse me, doctor, I have no time for such foolishness!

No! Wait! I have discovered of mechanisms of heredity! In time, I shall bring an end to hereditary disorders to all disease! Man shall at last possess complete masteries of their own body! We shall become more than men, we shall be gods!

Good heavens! You're quite mad! [Walks away with his men]

Fools! You blind old fools! You require proof? [Dr. James Xavier walks out] I'll provide you at proof in abundance! I shall show you, I shall show the world!
