Supergirl
All S1

S1 E15Unfinished Business

Citizens of national city this Cat Grant live from CatCo plaza. As you all know I have been Supergirl's most outspoken champion, so you can imagine how difficult it is for me to tell you, that I and CatCo can no longer stand behind Supergirl. I made you trust her. I gave you my word that she was safe: a friend. I was wrong. Supergirl has changed. She is unstable and extremely dangerous. She threw me off of a building last night and threatened my life. Who knows what else she is capable of? It's not easy being let down by our idols. Having someone who embodies our heroic ideals helps us believe that we can be heroes, too. Sometimes, heroes fall. So, please, for your own safety, stay away from Supergirl.

What, how- That's Cat's elevator.

It is absolutely ridiculous for her to have her own personal elevator. Plus, horrible for the environment.

You are literally impervious to bullets, and I'm worried for your safety right now.

God knows, I hate a generic sports metaphor, but that interview was a touchdown. A home run. Whatever you call it when you do something good in hockey.

KHK'hund

Your mother-

Sentenced you to Fort Ross. Blah blah, ruined your life, I've heard the story. You wanna fight about it?

When you are an alien, you are willing to sacrifice anything, everything, betray your fundamental instincts just to fit in. To belong somewhere, to find your place in the world.

I have worked for that man for the last two years, He has never endangered this planet, he has protected it.

JHJames Harper

Two years? This alien is over 300 years old. Two years is like a coffee break to him.

JDJeremiah Danvers

I know you were only trying to help. But the world already has a Superman. All you need to be is Kara Danvers.

Seriously. I have too much self-esteem to kill myself. Killing someone else on the other hand...

I'm sorry, but what did you expect me to do?!

I don't know! Not rat me out to freaking Cat Grant!

[Barry Allen is explaining to the others about the multiverse and how he arrived.]

BABarry Allen

[drawing circles on a whiteboard] All right. So imagine there are multiple versions of Earth. One where, uh... the Nazis won World War II , one where Kennedy was never assassinated...

[raising a hand like he's in a classroom] Okay, one where all of us are evil.

Been there. It sucks. So all of these Earths occupy the same place in space, but they vibrate at a different frequency, so they can't see one another.

Yeah, yeah, but it's like, if you can go fast enough, then it's possible to open, like, a breach and then travel between worlds.

Yeah.

But how could you travel that fast?

[amused] Uh, well, um...

[Barry races out of the room at super-speed, then returns seconds later, giving each of them an ice cream cone.]

[overjoyed] Yeess!!

Yeah. So, um... I was struck by lightning the same night a particle accelerator exploded, and I became a... superhero.

[Kara giggles, impressed and a little smitten.]

So, so, so... y-you're a superhero, too.

Mmm-hmm.

[subdued] Tha-that's cool, I guess.

[surveying Kara, Barry, James and Winn, who are standing before her] All four of you standing there doing nothing. You look like the attractive yet non-threatening, racially diverse cast of a CW show.

What's the plan?

Catch the bad girl. Bring her back here so she can't hurt anyone. Eighty-five percent chance of punching.

When I was helping people as Supergirl, I was... I was so happy. And now that the people don't want me to help them, I feel lost. And I'm in such a hurry to prove myself again, I'm making stupid mistakes, like today.

This is going to sound ironic coming from me, but you need to slow down. Just keep doing your good work. Don't worry about the rest. The public will forgive you, I promise.

How can you be so sure?

'Cause the same thing happened to me.

Really?

Mm-hmm.

So what finally fixed things?

Time.

Tell Mr. Allen to have a good time zipping around in his red outfit.

Wait, you knew he was the Flash?

Oh, please. Barry shows up, the Flash shows up, his insistence on that silly name, and he was so unfailingly charming and nice that he had to be either a superhero or a Mormon. Kira, I can spot the extraordinary pretending to be a nobody in my midst just like that! [snaps her fingers right in front of Kara's face.]
