King Charles quotes from Reign

Prince Charles

I know I'm young, and you may assume I'm inexperienced, but I promise I'll give you an heir.

Prince Charles

You want me, the Dauphin, to get you a bucket of water?

King Charles

You may be Regent, but I am King. And you will pay for what you've done.

King Charles

You can't use your children as pawns in your schemes to gain power. You have no power 'cause I've taken it all away.

King Charles

I'm saying that I, Charles de Valois, King of France, am a Protestant.

King Charles

I will not lie about my beliefs. Not to the Queen of Spain or anyone.

King Charles

I understand that sometimes a king must wield a sword to protect his people.

Princess Claude

What's the play about, anyway?

Sebastian

It's a comedy about the love lives of royals.

King Charles

I hear the princess is worth looking at.

King Charles

Why didn't you tell him those anarchists are the Red Knights?

Queen Catherine

And remind him we killed the last group of soldiers we couldn't pay?

Queen Catherine

Charles, if I could have a moment.

King Charles

Not now, I need some air.

Queen Catherine

Well, you can breathe while I talk.

King Charles

I'll take it under advisement.

Queen Catherine

You'll take what under advisement? What, you're just going to mouth kingly words?!

You could tell me.

King Charles

Did they ask you to do that? To listen to me? A task foisted on a stranger because no one wants to hear it, not really.

Queen Catherine

You are King of France, and your sister, the Queen of Spain, is using your absence to threaten the sovereignty of our nation.

King Charles

Listen to yourself. You don't even care that I, your son, am alive, well and happy.

Queen Catherine

Alive and well and King of France.

King Charles

Only if I choose to return to court, which I don't.

...Perhaps we should all.. stop talking before this delicious soup gets cold.

King Charles

Being King of France is a duty I was born to. I accept who I am and I will not abdicate.

Spoken like France's one true king.

Or a well-coached puppet.

King Charles

He's fine! But he's not the King. [Extends hand] Nicole.

Nicole

[Angrily whispers] My love!
