I'm riddled with regrets.
A life without regret would be no life at all.
Hannibal · Season 1
I'm riddled with regrets.
A life without regret would be no life at all.
When you killed Randall, did you fantasize that you were killing me? Most of what we do, most of what we believe is motivated by death.
[quietly] I never felt as alive as when I was killing him.
Then you owe Randall a debt. How will you repay him?
You forced me to kill you.
I didn't force you to enjoy it.
Whatever it is you are playing, Hannibal, you have to listen very carefully to what you are creating.
I'm listening.
Do you have a sister, Dr. Lecter?
I had a sister.
Then you understand my need to protect Margot, mostly from herself. She's pathological. I'm sure she's told you horrible things that I've done.
I can't tell you what Margot's confessed to me. Fortunately for you, I can't tell anyone.
[laughing] You got me.
You can't reduce me to a set of influences. I'm not the product of anything. I've given up good and evil for behaviourism.
Then you can't say that I'm evil.
You're destructive. Same thing.
Evil is just destructive? Storms are evil, if it's that simple.
[to Will] Tell me, did your heart race when you murdered her?
Margot would love to stick a knife into me - and it wouldn't be to test the thickness of my skin.
You're going to be having some trouble with your lady parts, Margot. I'm afraid the only one you'll be celebrating Mother's Day with... is me.
[Will approaches Mason]
You must be the baby daddy. Excuse me if I don't offer you a cigar.
[Will punches him in the face]
[laughing] I'm going to feed you to my pigs. Carlo!
[Will seizes Mason by the throat and holds him over the pit]
Do you think it was Margot's idea to have an heir? Do you think it was your idea to take it from her? My idea to come here and kill you? The only thing that you, your sister and I have in common is the same psychiatrist.
[Will throws him to the side and puts a gun to his head]
If Dr. Lecter had his druthers, you'd be wrapped around a bullet right now. Dr. Lecter's the one you want to be feeding to your pigs.
So, how was my funeral?
Mason is discourteous. Discourtesy is unspeakably ugly to me.
Have you thought about eating him?
When feasible, one should eat the rude.
Free-range rude. Mason Verger is a pig. He deserves to be somebody's bacon.
[to Carlo] I take it Mateo didn't make it? Did he foul himself? He must smell worse than you do right now.
[Hannibal and Will are discussing mercy as Mason mutilates himself]
I'm hungry.
Eat your nose, then.
Eat my... eat my nose...
[Mason cuts off his nose and eats it]
I have a taste and consistency that's similar to that of a chicken gizzard!
[to Will] Taste is housed in parts of the mind that perceive pity. Pity has no place at the table.
[burps] I'm full of myself. [laughs]
I don't want to take up too much of your time, Mr. Verger. I realize that you probably need to get your rest, but I would like to ask you just a few questions about what happened to you.
Took a tumble in the pig pen. Broke my neck. Embarrassing, really. Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy. If my sister hadn't found me, the pigs would have eaten more than my face.
Pigs did this to you?
Oh, yes. The pigs certainly did.
Mr. Verger, you are a patient of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Is that right?
Dr. Lecter, yes. Yes.
Have you ever seen or met another patient of Dr. Lecter's, a man called Will Graham?
Will Graham. The man that didn't kill all those people? That Will Graham?
Yes.
Can't say that I've had the pleasure.
Do you find that Dr. Lecter's therapy has been helpful to you?
I've benefited greatly from Dr. Lecter's therapy. I'm still benefiting from it. I will always be grateful for how he's helped me. I only hope that I may repay him one day.
