Jesse Reese quotes from Birds of Prey

Jesse Reese

Darkstrike? Who comes up with these names?

Jesse Reese

You have the right to remain silent.

Jesse Reese

That was quick.

Helena Kyle

You trigger the Batring, I show up. That's the deal. What can I do for you, Detective?

Jesse Reese

Heh, I guess I just didn't realize it was gonna be so fast.

Helena Kyle

I'm known for my response time.

Jesse Reese

You two were, uh...? I mean, worked together a long time?

Helena Kyle

No, just the once. Seemed like we had everything in common. Should've been my first clue. If something seems too easy, it probably is.

Jesse Reese

So, what, you're saying complicated's good?

Helena Kyle

I'm saying it's not necessarily bad. So, you and the D.A. working a new case together, yet?

Jesse Reese

No, no, not for a while. But it's just as well, really, um, there were issues.

Helena Kyle

Mm. Reese, is she something to you?

Jesse Reese

Yeah, yeah. She was a really bad blind date.

Helena Kyle

Oh.

Jesse Reese

[Restraining a suspect] Can I just ask you, do you have to do that?

Helena Kyle

What?

Jesse Reese

Beat the person 'till they bleed. There's a name for that; it's called excessive force.

Jesse Reese

Why can't working with you ever be simple?

Helena Kyle

There's nothing simple about... whatever it is we're doing.

Jesse Reese

You know, it's only complicated because you make it that way. I mean, if you followed the rules like everyone else...

Helena Kyle

Then bad guys would get away. Crimes would happen that could have been prevented. And innocent people would get hurt. Is that what you want?

Jesse Reese

Helena Kyle.

Helena Kyle

Hi.

Jesse Reese

Well, tell me... Miss Helena Kyle... what have you been up to these past five years?

Helena Kyle

Well, I am a bartender by day... and a meta-vigilante patrolling the rooftops of New Gotham by night.

Jesse Reese

You're a bartender, huh?

Helena Kyle

Yeah. A really good bartender.

Jesse Reese

Hmm. Yeah. I bet you are.

Jesse Reese

Well, you almost killed that man.

Helena Kyle

Not really. Even though I wanted to more than anything.

Jesse Reese

Yeah, well, you didn't. So, what do you say we try that dinner.

Helena Kyle

Yeah. Or we could... go straight to dessert.

Jesse Reese

Yeah. We could do that.
